  1. There will be (most likely)an update after this weekend (kaikoura) but feel performances of Old Town Road should be enough to get a start.
  2. assurances were given when the merger between Atc and franklin was proposed and one main point was Franklin longevity as a training centre. Times change but it seems no way was its survival ever going to be in doubt. This was a major starting point for dozens of young trainers and indeed many developed into top trainers. it is a great track for racing and training and must not be sold .Perhaps the reverse makes sense sell Alex Park and relocate to Pukekohe.(as long as training remains.)
  3. most current list 5.10.22 on hrnz nz cup rankings
  4. I know this not rankings by hrnz to get into cup but good indication.
  5. Copy That....4.60 rocknroll doo.4.60 B D Joe.........5.00 Old Town road.6.00 self assured''''''7.50 Spankem......,,,11.00S Alta wise guy...15.00 Akuta...............17.00 (hope he starts in Cup)
  6. TAB racing''''''' feature races, harness racing have up to date... but can show current.....'
  7. Maybe sale of puk site, could be seen as similar to those board members responsible being forced to sell their homes but saying its ok because you can rent them for 3 years until sort out what you going to do..... big deal. I just wonder if pukekohe properties were part of the large packet of assets which are in the banks drawer, to cover loans for atc development . !!!!!!!!!!!!!1(like someone to ask board.ps I know how banks work)
  8. true Iraklis, stuff the training centre at Pukekohe big bros got itself in the horse doo doos now wants to sell all facilities and training track for 100s of horses and many trainers/drivers /owners to balance their books after incredible risky property developments . Is anyone going to own up to this debacle . I would think after all the promises given to franklin they should vote against as without any training facilities the Harness racing is doomed. Auckland land is simply too valuable. ATC have got a cheek even proposing such an idea. If it proceeds I think a boycott on auckland harness racing would be well received and may get ATC to thinkagain for solutions .
  9. good to see hrnz reinstating a fun comp. where us ordinary souls can pick a valuable stable at no cost. thankyou hrnz (and I often find fault but not in this instance )
  10. agree hard to believe results last night especially for the All stars. Their horses usually race hardened at home plus trials .Can only say it will get better from next week .!!! If TAB comments correct big bets on Akuta,True Fantasy.,Self Assured (up to 5 figures ) all lost . (chock biscuits at coffee break all next week for TAB . lol.)
  11. yes Iraklis but you must be excited to see the big boys from Purdons coming out to play friday,, and drawn well Self Assured and Spankem the 2 have earnings around the $1.800000 mark so both will no doubt hit the magical 2 mill. by end of cup week.
  12. even the race I was referring to, the 40000 restricted to up and coming horses won by Ardies e xpress (my army of ARR Dance couldnt beat her but finished 23456 Lol.)proves the point of speed in young horses , was won in 1.54 MR and 2nd and 3rd around 1.55 mark over 1980mtres. so a reasonable horse in say 1.58 mr which would have won 10 years ago is now way down the track.we must look at 2 tiered system and rating to allow the next layer of horses to earn money. Races such as for horses won less than say 20000 or won between 20 and 30000 could appeal and keep more horses economically viable longer.
  13. Economics of the country also have an effect therefore where some participants may have 1 or 2 horses on their own often they are shared with similar but have say 25% instead of paying large training fees each month.thats why some European trotting countries the national body get into breeding and syndicating themselves. The young horses in NZ are now going 2.00 or close in early workouts so what's the point (as mentioned here) in making up fields when your horse is perfectly sound but not competitive around 2.03/4. By the way the $40000 on offer tonight at Addington includes (my fav Stallion) A Rocknroll Dance with 5 of the 8 participants trying to beat Ardies Express !!
  14. One answer may lie in the simple fact that 75 %ofparticipants lose money each year.Would anyone regard racing as a charity, dont think so.The opportunity to get the freaky fast horse is still there but ( ,I believe) the wealthy people have taken the best horses (and good on them) and the battler group have now voted with their feet.To keep horses competitive is part of the answer. eg. Why not give claiming races a fair go again with more and better conditions. also more races as programmed this week at addington with limit on earnings and group performers. then good money could incentivise the smaller owners to stay around. Syndicates are helpful if managed properly as well. its not an easy fix but many things such as breeder bonus good start.
  15. yes great news. Wow it may get so big that HRNZ might suggest to help Cambridge it needs to go to Auckland .... lol. (shades of jewels). Congrats to Grins and Cambridge. go for it. !!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Pleased to report A Rocknroll dance, now is third on individual winners list with 51 this season only behind Bettors Delight and Art Major and is now around $800000 earnings. Would expect him to continue on the good work rest of the year to fly over the million mark again. Not bad for a sire who stood for 4 to 6000
  17. A bit tough on Pip, She is new to race calling and from an objective view point will take some time to create her own style. She is easy to listen to and showing real ability in race calling. .For horse racing fans when races take over 1 minute at least to make a call when many greyhound races are over in 17/18 seconds is ,obviously a difficult proposition. good luck PIP
  18. 2 Piper, strange as it may seem ,many years ago (the bad old days .lol) HRNZ did,for the reasons you outline, limit individualsire numbers to 125 services and xtras for free returns. However eventually , the Studs appealed that decision as unfair Business restriction. and won so we now have the situation where a handful of sires can serve the majority of mares with the problems you outline. So unusual as it may seem , HRNZ in this instance not to blaim !
  19. good learning curve. sure she will work it all out soon.
  20. the huge purchase price paid for the filly should be repaid a small amount today with her first win I hope so..
  21. many clubs still regard season end !st August ....eg Cambridge celebrating horse of year last night ? and legal restrictions were getting changed over a year ago ???
  22. Hopefully they may read this and reply. I even heard if a foal is born in say november it will be regarded as foaling in the same breeding season. as ajan/feb foal ie all turn 1 1.1.24 ? (open to conjecture. have to draw a line somewhere.
  23. PS, if I were to breed a horse this season I would call it "TWILIGHT ZONE '
  24. then why does HRNZ put dates out 2021/22 season finishing july 31 and 22/23 season starting august 1st ????????????
  25. A stallion somewhat overlooked in recent seasons but is now proving very successful. Sure his progeny raced early in USA and Australia but seemed to need a bit of age to show their best inNZ He now stands in Australia and reports say is well received, however his siring records locally are very impressive. lets look at top4 sires in the pacing all ages category to date this season..... No surprise.1... superstar Bettors Delight..$4000000 so far this season from 2492 foals equals $1605 per live foal.2.Art Major $1280000 from 1108 foals equals $1155 live foal 3. American Ideal $870000 from 929 foals equals $936 per live foal 4. A Rocknroll Dance ..$715000 from 489 foals equals $1462 per live foal Stats do not mean a lot as can be different categories to suit but clear for a sire to be in top 5 for money earnt and proving a good %sire is reassuring obviously would be available in NZ via chilled semen (especially for live or die and Christian Cullen and bettors delight mares) ps. pity this section almost dried up .to help first 3 pacing mare owners can get free sire selection if they want to reply .JP
