Idolmite reacted to Ned Kelly in You Can't Handle The Truth
The numbers don’t lie, those in charge at the ATC do but the numbers don’t. I’m not really surprised because there is plenty of brown noses out there but am amazed at the number of people that believe raising issues and those like CMN who produce the facts are somehow bringing harness racing into disrepute or being negative. As someone who attends Alexandra park every meeting and have done for years you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to see how far those in charge at both a local and national level have failed at everything they have done.

Idolmite reacted to scooby3051 in Terrible Fall At Sha Tin
Awful fall at Sha Tin overnight...sadly one horse was euthanized and three jockeys including Zac Purton taken to hospital...this was after an earlier fall in Race 6 where Vincent Ho was taken to hospital and I believe he was unconscious...hope all are ok...thoughts are with them for a speedy recovery...sad to see things like this happen...its the part of racing I never can get used to.🙏🌹

Idolmite reacted to Pak Star in Jamie Melham? A bit slow me!
In modern times we have men taking the surname of their wife, which could have been a linguistics disaster if Jamie Kah had decided to instead marry fellow jockey Wayne Hill.

Say No More and Nomates, you are letting the "old timers'' down, not being able to keep up on something as important as Jamie's new surname.
Didn't your wives take your name?

In simple terms, whaat does the "world pool" actually add to New Zealand racing. The only thing I've really read is that the take-out is larger? That sounds like a negative to me, but is the theory that it generates worldwide interest in certain races, thus higher turnover? In reality, does it work?
i must be old and tired these days, as l thought interest in the "Kiwi" was higher when first announced than it is now when it's only a few weeks out. I guess it might ramp up again a week out, but is it really going to pay off? All that money to one lucky group of individuals? Are slot races sustainable in the long term? Do they only make the rich richer while the true battlers in the sport - which have always made for the best stories - are forced even further to the extremities? I can never see the Kiwi story - the horse from Waverley, not the slot races at Ellerslie- being repeated. Or another Bonecrusher being bought for pocket change. It's all rather clinical and boring today by comparison. More international, maybe, but better? I'm not so sure. So many people, clubs and tracks forced into extinction can't really be good, if they're not being replaced? Like many sports, rugby included, centralisation over participation doesn't appear to work in the long term.

It would have been interesting had Republican Party not had a slightly interrupted run into the straight. When Anthony Butt dived to the passing lane upon straightening l thought for a second Carter Dalgety was going to head out wider, just for half a stride, then realised there was still a gap on the inside of Tact Mcleod. But to come from three-back in that field - even though he hadn't spent a penny - and get as close as he did was a great run. The top four all went huge, and there were some good late runs from the beaten brigade too. It'll be a good form race over the next few weekends l imagine.

In retrospect it was an easy First 4 (not that l actually took one). The two champions 1st and 2nd. The best two barrier draws 3rd and 4th.

Exactly my point .
But , in any G1 race run in NZ or any group race for that matter , with a very few exceptions the majority by far are trained north of Taupo . So their interest is going to be self interest .
Which to a large degree I can fully understand , but , they can't just keep taking races from the CD and recondition them for the Northerners , at least without some consideration to those clubs in the CD and those that own and train there .
As I said a more holistic approach needs to be taken in regards to the calendar and programming .

Idolmite got a reaction from Alf Riston in TAB AI Form comments
It was hilarious following their comments on the well-publicised 4-horse race at Ellerslie two Saturday's back. They were completely rewritten during the week - maybe after comments here on RC, who knows? - so they obviously have access to more than one source? Or maybe they got a human in to rewrite that one?
Like most, l don't rely on their comments either, but as l only casually follow the sport, never watching mid-week racing outside of the Melbourne Cup etc, this all equates to a lot of Saturday racing - outside of the Premier-type meetings - l don't have a bet on as I'm largely unfamiliar with the horses. Once in a blue moon l might watch a preview show, but there are so many of them - if you include local and Australian, gallops and harness - I'd never stay awake long enough to take it all in 🤣. Therefore the sort of comments they post, largely just expanding out their own data that is available to everybody anyway, adds nothing. and that's annoying. They don't deserve our support. It doesn't take long to work out their comments are 95% rubbish.

I certainly don't rely upon it at all Liz - more a causal glance when I'm looking at times and statistics in case there is a snippet of useful information that I wasn't aware of......
AI frustrates me as I see it in most cases as a corporate cost cutter at the cost of human jobs, and more importantly 'human interaction; which is being continually driven out of our lives. It's stealing a valuable quality of life like a theif in the night....
The younger generations are the one's I feel for most 🥹
What fuels me to comment on Entains useage of it is they claim to be a tech savvy, Customer experience driven company yet their application of AI is the worst I have seen by quite a stretch.
Quality control in the delivery of it's product to the customer seriously lacking here.....
