kdt got a reaction from Baz (NZ) in Ashburton today 21/12
I know the industry has to carry on and is, but how tough is that on all concerned to have to go back to Ashburton so soon after the tragedy. Thinking of you all today.

kdt reacted to Palliser in Sam Spratt
Great to see Sam kick home two great winners yesterday. Seems like she's been around forever, always admired her professionalism, loyalty, and skill through good and bad times, a real asset to the racing industry in NZ. That awesome smile always shows she loves riding winners .. we need personalities like Sam so I hope she stays riding for many years.

kdt reacted to scooby3051 in Should we be worried about Awapuni again
Can you darken believe this shyte...when the nom day said they had put no water on the track I knew we were in trouble with the weather forecast...then they changed that to say they did put water on which was a lie as the reason why the course proper was closed on Tuesday was because it was slippery as no water had been put on it and rain early Tuesday AM made it slippery. The whole industry is being brought to its knees by incompetent people who do not have a clue...look at the report posted today...NOTHING has changed..thrown them out for gods sake this is crazy...owners, trainers and jockeys are the only ones getting shafted here...wondering why I even bother anymore.

Largely because 90% of the horses would have scratched.

kdt reacted to Timon in Cubes #2 - a message from Cubes' brother
Fellow cafe posters - I wanted to acknowledge on behalf of Cubes family the heartwarming posts in Scooby's thread Cubes Sadly passes away And thank you also for the magnificent bouquet that was delivered to his house yesterday and the beautiful accompanying message to his boys.
Nige's passing was sudden, unexpected and way too soon but his was definitely a life well lived. His posts were rightly the stuff of legend ... though there was certainly no point letting the facts get in the way of a good story
He and I shared the ownership of a few horses which graduated to the stage of being "promising" .... but like with all things with Nige we had big and bold plans and remained the eternal optimists. However if the racing gods do the decent thing, then we'll all be cheering his Bad Flamingo home at the front of the field on Friday
We figured Riccarton would be a fitting venue to farewell him so if conditions permit we'll throw the casket on the roof rack, shove in whatever cassette happens to be lying under the front seat, wind the windows down, crank up the volume and let the Kingswood give Cubes a final lap of honour around the track.
And then, in Nigel's immortal words, it will be Cubes and out
Love to you all
Cubes family

kdt got a reaction from Pegasus 9 in CJC offering refunds for last Saturday
Heard the same thing myself. A big fat go and get stuffed from me. This club treat the public with contempt and it will now bite them in the bum. Cry your crocodile tears somewhere else Tim Mills. I thought you might have at least offered your resignation by now.

kdt got a reaction from Baz (NZ) in riccarton meeting
According to Tim Mills speaking on the radio this morning there was no water put on the track yesterday due to the high winds. To quote him "the water would have ended up in Hornby"

kdt reacted to Alf Riston in riccarton meeting
Found the problem with mowing the track - too much money spent on fancy dinners and wine instead of plant and equipment

Which would suggest the whole damn thing needs to be ripped up and start again. But as you say where are the $$ going to come from for that. It doesn't seem to matter if it's mid summer or mid winter at Riccarton the clods be they wet or dry fly up. I think the rebuild was around 1997/98. I had not long come to live in Christchurch and went to a CJC meeting out at Rangiora. Rangiora itself is another whole sordid story.

kdt reacted to gubellini in riccarton meeting
Ponderosa8 Tauranga have a great drainage system. It rained all day on Friday. With the wind and sun today it started to dry out. Full credit to Course Manager Craig Settle and Clive Bennett his assistant. Craig comes from a farming and racing background. Clive once trained in partnership with Bill Winder and also trained Arbre Chene following the death of Peter Cathro. They presented a great track today and unlike Riccarton it had been mown evenly from the inside to the outside rail.

Who is going to resign? Tim Mills? Lets start with him and go from there.

kdt reacted to nomates in riccarton meeting
Interesting that they don't ask for any input for industry participants from outside the circle that may have something useful to share that improves the current situation .
Part of the problem is they keep going round the same table , asking the same questions , of the same people that have all had too much to say and we are still in the same position .

Bryce is still going strong. Breaking in and pre-training on his 300 acre Torquay property. Can’t keep a good man down!
