  1. DSD was screwed when the leader got to the half in 56 seconds. I know over here they go a second or two faster since 99.99 percent are miles here but the top class over here will go better than 54 for the 1st half and then if you are 6 or 8 lengths off the pace you have a shot. He did look flat though.

He will bounce back though; he is too good to go two bad ones.

Oh thanks for that Tim mate, bloody shame they don't appreciate Laz up there; I get why they (US) push em (babies) the way they do but geez a bit of time, they'll pay that back....

    Cheers Iraklis

It's mind boggling to me as he's such a beautiful horse.  If it's a son of Somebeachsomewhere then it's automatically going to be good.  Brett Pelling purchased 9 yearlings by Papi Rob Hanover who but for a broken bone could have been anything. He said his offspring a perfect.  He said you could put 5 of the 9 offspring he has in a paddock and not tell the difference, they all look the same, no white markings. I'm hearing (reading) that the trainers who purchased them late last year are all raving about them.  Basically, unlike Bettor's Delight, SBSW sons are passing on their dad's brilliance.

  3. That is insane.

Sadly, until he leaves a few really good ones, he's a flop up here according to people I talk to.

We were and are all hoping he succeeds but Bettor's Delight has a problem with his sons at stud. They really don't do well for some reason.  I also think they (US) need to be more patient with them and not push them hard as 2yolds.

Tioga Downs is back East on the NY-Pennsylvania border. Jeff Gural who owns the Meadowlands owns this track and another.

This supposedly drugged out pile of excrement set it on fire and two trainers lost their entire racing stable.  They arrested this clown and hopefully someone pours son petrol over him and lights him on fire.

  5. That Karl destroyed the millionaire.  He's not the greatest going trotter, he looks like he hits himself.  1.51 and change is a great time and it is interesting that Karl's father Tactical Landing cost $825,000 at the yearling sales because his full sister is Mission Brief who trotted 1.50 and change as a 2yo and is still the fastest 2yo in the history of the sport and she did that in 2016

Talking about stallions I get the impression Captain Crunch has got off to a disappointing start in the USA  Hopefully he improves because there was a bit of buzz around him.  Maybe they will make better 3 year olds.  It’s still early days yet I guess.

Captain Crunches have been very disappointing.  I know of one that the guy paid $165,000 for and he's won one race a month ago and he's gelded him and turned him out. They look good but getting them to run is a different story so far.  They may make better 3yolds. It's like Bettor's Delight, many of his sons have been disappointing. Like Betting Line. Even Laz. Laz has done well in New Jersey but then most of his rivals are by him. So far they are getting mowed down by Captain Treacherous and others.  I really think they need time which is not a luxury here. They certainly are good lookers so he should be given that chance. Chris Ryder has bought quite a few but now he is buying Bettor's Wish(es) which he trained. They are running as 2yolds which is unlike the other BD's.

It is amazing how great Somebeachsomewhere was and that at least three of his sons, Captain Treacherous, Stay Hungry and Downbytheseaside are dropping machines left and right. Also Huntsville.

Thanks Timbo mate, Caroline Kountry (Shartin's girl) looked absolutely somethin in her video for the Lex sales :rcf-happy-7: I wish them all the best with her, and I'm sure Mr Alagna wil do his best for her....really lovin the news comin in from you, and as Janitor says I like to keep an eye on US racin etc especially when there is Kiwi interest - Shartin's baby, Laz's sons daughters or ex Kiwibreds....and, and how the hell can you have a Trotter, a bloody Trotter? goin that bloody fast, holy crap, that's that's mind bogglin.....

    Cheers Iraklis

As you know, I was lucky to have a trotter go a faster time back there than the pacers. God, I'm getting old, LOL. 1984 Basil Dean 3:15.3 for 2600 meters. Wish I could turn back the clock.

Thank you for the update mate. I really appreciate being keep up to date what's on over there in U.S. Looks like the breed has improved, new world mile mark soon?

my old mate Iralklis is into the states stuff too. It's good to have that knowledge

    Exciting times

    Thanks again mate

    janitor

He went 1:46.1 two or three weeks ago to set a 3yo WR and just 2/5th outside Bulldog Hanover's all age WR.  Only like 55-60 F there today as opposed to 85 the day he went the WR.

His buddy Cannibal won today as well in the other division of this race also for $236,000. He is bred on the same Cross Sweet Lou out of a Rocknroll Dance mare. Both are owned by Diamond Creek Farm

Hey there Timbo mate :rcfe-happy-2: thanks for the post, Confederate is certainly a looker 1.48 wowee, sharp...h

    Cheers Iraklis

PS. can yuh keep an eye out for Shartin's baby girl any news re qualifyin and starts etc would be greatly appreciated, she fetched good price at the Lex sales I see....

I certainly can. I cannot believe she went for $140,000 US.  That was very very low.  But over here they pay twice as much for trotters. There are 2 important things over here for getting big money. If it's a well bred trotter and it's a filly then you better bring a Brinks truck full of money. There was one went for $800,000 US.

Interesting is there have been 2 million dollar plus yearlings, both trotters and both colts and to date both are failures.  One was a full brother to Greenshoe who owners purchased him.  They  all have deep pockets. They interviewed a guy this week who spent 3.5 million on like 12 yearlings.

Tony Alagna purchased Shartin's daughter for his rich clients, so if she's good, he will get it out of her. Over here as you can imagine, they have no patience and some horses get pushed before they are mature enough but he is a top trainer so here's hoping she runs like her Mum.

  10. https://harnesslink.com/usa/release-bythemissal-fires-alrajah-one-it-soars-in-allerage-farms-2/

Dex drove Alrajah One (The Italian bred) who has only started like 6 times in 2 years for 5 wins and a 2nd. The track was slow totday with a head wind down the back or he could have trotted in 1:48 himself. He trotter a last quarter in a different race in 25 and 2/5ths. For a pacer that is smoking so for a trotter, it is out of this world.

He also breeds him in the off season so he will have a bunch of little ones running around soon.

  11. 8 minutes ago, Idolmite said:

    That's impressive

Yeah. he's 10 starts now for 9 wins and a 2nd. Has to be over a million in earnings now. He has never galloped in a race before but Miller said the raced him with a mini-bit and he did not like it one bit (sorry for the pun).  He got mad and then he hung in on the far turn and when he straightened, he took off.

Cantab Hall has been a great sire and a great broodmare sire now, but he can still leave a good one. The Cantab Hall's just trot and trot, they are heavier than the average horse it seems, but they will trot for days, they don't wear trotting hopples as many of the others do and they get better with age so this colt might be even better at 3.

  12. The mare MM's Dream who won the $250,000 trot beats all those except maybe the winner. She beat Jiggy Jog in a jog last time out and she ran second.

MM's Dream has won 24 of 30. The European horses usually come over here and trounce the American horses. Jiggy Jog represented Sweden because she was born there but is by Walner who is dynamite. The winner Vivid Wise is US breeding but he is trained in Italy and all those trainers from France, Sweden and Italy are superior to the American trainers with trotters. Ake Svanstedt wins a shitload here and he has Alrajah One which i predict will trot 1:48 flat at the Red Mile in Lexington with Dexter.

That race being run at Yonkers would be better on the Mile track of the Meadowlands.  That half mile track is of course a huge handicap for those who draw out.

  13. I have seen 2 crops now and I have no doubt they are going to be good, but they appear to be better at 3 and older.

Both crops of 2yolds here are a step below the Sons of SBSW in Captain Treacherous, Huntsville and Stay Hungry in New Jersey. That breed is simply amazing as he has 3 or 4 sons who just leave really good-looking machines. Then you have the former Chris Ryder, Dex driven Bettor's Wish who while also being a son of Bettor's is leaving way more precocious youngsters with more zip. Laz got some great mares in his 1st season but this year they are not quite as good.  I want Laz to really do well and that is one thing that is different to home. Everything is about speed, speed and more of it and owners are impatient and want their horses to run early and some studs are way better suited.  If some of them would give Laz a chance and be patient they will end up with better older horses but sadly that is not where the money is. Look at Sweet Lou, he's a different animal and his son Confederate can easily become the fastest ever but he will no doubt retire to stud in December because he's owned and bred by Diamond Creek and the money is in the stud where he could no doubt stand for $30,000 US.

Anyway, let's hope The LAZ offspring can rise up a little more. They are some really good looking animals, that's for sure.

  14. Jogging. People over here were saying Bulldog Hanover's 1:45. 4/5th would stand for some time. He was 4 and this is a 3yo.

Brett Pelling trains him so there's the Kiwi connection.  Sweet Lou (Minus the white blaze) out of a Rock n Roll Dance mare so speed to burn.  The rabbit horse, his stablemate is the same breeding cross

This 3yo colt could and would blow that time away on this track.  He's running for $400,000 in a few weeks here so they may try for it. What is more impressive is they only ran the 1st quarter in 27 seconds.  He was timed in his last quarter in 26 flat and was jogging

The only problem is you can bet he will retire and go to stud at the end of this year as he's owned and bred by Diamond Creek.  That's a shame over here that we don't get so see them race as older horses unless they are geldings or they mature late.

    Replay in Harnesslink below

    https://harnesslink.com/usa/confederate-becomes-fastest-3yo-of-all-time/

  15. Alrajah One was scratched from this race last year with a suspensory injury. This is his 1st race back off 2 qualifiers.  He is now 4-4 in North America and was timed in a race last year his last quarter in 25.3 which is good enough to beat many pacers.

He also bred to over 130 mares in Italy by way of frozen Semen and bred like 30 here as well. This horse stays healthy and he destroys the world trotting record for a mile which is a tick better than 1.49
