We had the opportunity to have a say on handicapping a while ago.  I submitted on the old class system with a difference.  I submitted that maidens , 1 win and two win horses race against each other. Once you have won 3 lifetime races then they can use the rating system for the horses. 
That would mean that 3 win + horses would face Magic Sign and Sagwitch, one and two win horses would not.
I believe my suggestion would put horses of similar ability in those lower grades and encourage holding on to racehorses and not take a deal from Aussies as quick as you can blink.

It will almost all be by AI .
Sending a mare to the farm will be costly with the transportation costs.  Costs less for the chilled semen to be couried to the farm where the mare lives.

I've been involved in the racing industry in one form or another for 60 years now from being a casual punter to owning, training, riding thoroughbreds in trackwork and driving both trotters and pacers at various points along the way. It very much sounds like people are talking through their wallets here - grandstand jockeys, trainers and drivers abound in our industry - it comes with the territory. I've watched Zoltan Boscik since his first start and my summation is that this is an honest, game horse who gives of his best at all times and that's reflected in a solid career record. He's a grinder who I have always thought could be a Dominion Handicap prospect at good odds at some stage. He's been handled patiently and given time and that's always a good thing in my book. He was badly in need of his first two runs this time in (carrying condition) as you'd expect after a decent spell, but had a bit more shine on his coat last night. I'd encourage you to watch the video again Forest - but without your lighter wallet over your eyes. He bobbled for a few strides (uncharacteristic) at the start and I think that was because he got a bit spooked by horses either side of him (one throwing its head around and the other veering in towards him slightly). It was a generally tardy start anyway, but that's nothing unusual for trotters, as most of them are notoriously unreliable. For the second time in a row, the start caught him on the wrong foot, so you have to take that into account. ZB strikes me as a horse who would not thrive in a bigger stable environment like the ones you mention Forest. Being a grinder, he lacks a sprint, so you have to wind him up from a fair way out and last night, he got too far back and they sprinted across the top and he was left with too much to do. You can't bet on trotters with confidence though, because the bad behaved ones can take your horse out of the race, even if he or she is a sound beginner. It's racing Forest. There aren't any certainties and the punters I've known who think there are, are the one's with the arse hanging out of their pants. In my humble opinion, this is a horse building his fitness nicely, who hasn't had the rub of the green go his way this time in yet, but with another run under his belt, I think he could surprise a few. 

How does Kingman get a start instead of Rakero Rocket. Guess 1st emergency is his lot.

White Robe, Beltana come to mind immediately but many south Island breeders send their yearlings to North Island Preparers for Karaka sales.

It would be interesting to see where the majority of the Alabar broodmares went to , north or south under their closedown incentive scheme from last season. I would have liked a few but the cost of travel south put me off.

Also feel that 10 horses (with wide carts) is a little problem in tight finishes and leaves many horses without a chance at the end of a 1750mtre race and if a horse breaks it tends to interfere with others more than a normal wide course. and why do galloping tracks not use a synthetic crossing to prevent a natural"chicane"developing. (also mucks up some thoroughbreds) Still good experience and hope Taupo is maintained as a extra day for NI  summer racing.

I give at least 5 horses have a grand chance of winning, 
Does it end there though, driven absolutely cold Akuta could come over the top which makes 6. Hopefully a cup with lots of moves .

Do other tracks offer discounts to owners. I last raced a horse 2009 , don't remember anything about owners discounts.
