Word has it that the time standard for qualifying will be scrapped and it will be based upon the horses ability to stay gaited. This would mean the Tuesday low rated stakes meetings would go ahead. ( But gather will have the same ratings hike as other more staked meetings) . This will allow every horse bred an opportunity to collect stake money, which may indeed help increase breeding numbers and confidence. Wish them luck with this.

Wonder how much of the BIS money was not used. As someone that was eligible this season but because HRNZ changed the conditions that's one more mare not served.  How many others  ?
I had plans for going to Bling It On or For A Reason for that mare.

Yip , same as the old service, regarding WA . I remember wanting to back an ex - kiwi in the 7th race of the meeting but TAB only had betting on the first 6 races. I even posted on Cafe here about it. The horse won to add to the agony.

I'm biased and one eyed but after a shite of a day on punt(can't blame Whale either) got to say IMO the best drive in the cup that I plundered at 81/1 and 33/1 top 3 was Sarah O'Reilly on a horse NOONE gave a hope of placing.  Watch the race and tell me I'm wrong. It just peaked on its run the last 75m.
Even the praying mantis drove a patient cool race in runn8ng 5th. He will have his cup glory Friday!

However you still missed my point. Businesses have up and downs, and unfortunately the marketing of these meetings are failing to attract punters ,probably along with the case of little live radio coverage.  As pointed out in an earlier thread, not everyone has internet or has time to rush back inside to watch ( if you do have sky).

Companies/businesses pay provisional tax,  gst and industry tax , this case is gaming tax.
Entain does not have to run rugby or other sports, but are bound by the agreement to fund racing.  The do pay to sports from the sport betting which they profit from much greater than racing.
Fuel companies pay gst and the roading tax from their takefrom selling petrol,  leaving a profit or loss.
At year ending Financials, if they have paid too much provisional tax they will get a refund, doesn't happen all too often though. Many businesses did find this situation during covid however.

The pre race comment on OOga Chaka was that he/she just wasn't feeling it (love)  Most will know the song of course.That was proved to be complete craziness as OC had only 2 starts for 1st and 2nd.... well I for 1 was a believer (lol) and so it happened ,,,almost last to first  at Addington in the straight for a Downbytheseaside with good form. I can hear the chants when Ooga Chaka really gets motoring .....congratulations to owners (sadly not one of them)
