  1. The best horses should be the winner of these top races , not the best handicapped horse. Could be detrimental to NZ born stallions for their breeding future.
  2. Maybe not using mudguards are a ploy/ tactic, so following horse keep their distance otherwise they get an eye full of grit from the track., putting off their game. Other thing is I only got short mudguards for my sulky but have seen longer fitted on others. What size would be normal ? or acceptable. ?
  3. Not sure they were changed, what's the thoroughbred code doing ? Still having 2yo races ( new season) in November / December ??? - when harness horses still now only yearlings. ? As for Cambridge harness horse of the year awards ... Will have to eventually align with calender year ( or not) .
  4. Not sure what made A Rocknroll Dance move to an Aussie stud. Same thing with American Ideal I guess. More interest with their breeders at the Stud fee offered. Take Titin In America, unwanted here, moves to Aussie , then Shartin become World Champion mare. NZ lost a quality sire. NZ breeders stick to tried and true ( somewhat impatient with slower developing Sires wanting instant success) If we had brought in an even playing field (breeding caps like USA) twenty / thirty years ago we would have had a larger quality / diverse gene pool.
  5. Another significant reason for August is the racing dates ( meetings ) are usually locked in with the gaming licenses.
  6. The breeding season stays the same, August to (end of) March. Foals born during this time are deemed the same age. However a foal could be born late and miss the registration cut off date. Because they moved that forward fom 1st June ( before the season changes to calender year ). Waiting for that to change back ???
  7. Classy Dancer got up for the family and Hazer got the win expected by this punter at great odds.
  8. Do drivers not make mistakes ? How would you really know if the prescribed action been more successful ? Who would want to be a driver then ? Take Smokin Annie's recent win for example, down at the beginning of the back straight she was last, eventually every driver on the rails from that point other than the driver of Smokin Annie came off the rails which provided the win. Should not all the other drivers who moved outward from the rails be suspended ? We know that recent stats show that the rails are generally the place to be at Addington.?? Admitted to something in hindsight should not be relevant .Just like a winger in rugby , you have a split second to sidestep left or right , one could produce a try , the other results in a tackle being made on you. Ps. Haven't watch the actual race concerned but do not really think it needs to be to , ... to have my opinion as above.
  9. Haven't recieved any from them for depositing or use on specific race / event . Have got plenty from my multis missing by one though and the odd missed win bonus bet as they run 2nd to 4th..
  10. So the vet attending is now an industry appointed " yes man" ???
  11. U Are The One scored again today .
  12. Might go better tonight than last Sunday, think he is a little better than Harry Potter , my selection last Friday.
  13. Fairly young colt, 10 months I reckon mating with a smallish mare.
  14. Sunday , Two winners , 2 seconds and a third. Not such great picking in the end but good profit from those that did come in the money, almost 200% return above spending. Good to see great grand daughter of our mare winning paying good money and went good time to boot so should handle the next level. TFA paid good..
  15. Bang on , there was a story on HRNZ website about that same thing a couple of years ago. Got through the fence and ... you know what happened next
  16. Money made on 7 races, with stable mate Heisenberg substituted for late scratching of Henry Hubert. Only two winner however for Friday, 3 seconds, no thirds and 2 fourths. Harry Potter did break when leading into the home straight and Swell Time running on from tail of the field. Classy Dancer's ($2.70 top four) sulky seat was also struck by another runner, resulting in that horses driver to get 2 days suspension for careless driving. Glenledi Chief did beat Regazzo Mach but sat parked and wilted late for fourth. ($2.60 top four) . Came out just above even, so hopefully Sunday picks go a bit better.
  17. Friday Night Live On Legend Harry Potter (Rakero Raider) Sweet Belle Classy Dancer ☆ Majestic Jag Henry Hubert Majestic Man Swell Time The Coalman ☆ ☆ have progeny that are close relatives. Bonus bet - Glenledi Chief ☆ over Regazzo Mach ( Glocester Park race 4 ) Sunday Sports Babe Move It On Over Tight N Bright Hidden Desire U R The One ☆ Navara Hazer Luminite Royal Pride Mop What's your selections ?
  18. They use Lasix mainly as a preventative measure but a few like Christen Me do really require it. There was a horse that bled in Aussie ( won 2) and it was repatriated back to NZ and bled at "the Mot" after a handful of starts.

    KING

Would love to breed to him, COBBITTY are making half their stallions available to NZ breeders this coming season including him King Of Swing. Personally I like their " For A Reason" as his youngsters are doing well already and stands for 3k NZ . Last year was A$2200 , this season A$2750.
  20. Harry Potter will surely cast a spell over the stipes this coming Friday night (1.7.22) with his improved run and ask the same question.

    Dickson??

What's is the issue here ? Is it on the JCA pages? Off topic here Anyway, he has had his life turned upside down , not knowing his future several times. Was training on the Coast when Greymouth closed. Had concerns with Palmy dates reduced/ almost canned entirely and grass track circuit all but ceasing
  22. Part of the access (Public) to "the Mot" is through local council domain land. Obviously , the powers to be are looking to fill the bank account. The thing Rangiora has over "The Mot" is two proper raceday tracks (all weather and grass) . The Mot's all-weather is used for workouts and trials. At Rangiora, if really bad weather they can move the meeting from grass to all-weather. 'The Mot' has had two meetings abandoned in recent times.
  23. Orari will be closing.
  24. Here we go again ? Why ? The powers that be want to review the use of Rangiora as a venue alongside choosing between Timaru and Oamaru. Obviously these ........ do not realize the importance these venues are to the locals and the popularity of them especially during the warmer months of the year . As a Rangiora local I have seen it brimming with attendances. Usually you get bigger fields ( especially grass meetings) which encourages good division and punting that help the industry so they can get a bigger piece of the TAB pie. This has been posted on the HRNZ website " From The Chair". How's your part of the woods looking ? What's your thoughts ?
  25. So my 6 race multi I'll only get $2000 profit ? Even when adding the odds are like 13 k ? ( for a $1 bet ) Sept 3rd 2020 Targaryen $11 My Mate Ben $3 The High Ruler fav $2 Wattlebank Lass $2.50 Get Lucky $1.85 2nd (bad luck) I'm Watching You $8 Going by memory I did have a multi place bet on alll 6 and got it. Have had multis the added up to 7 figures but we're maxed out on return at $1,000,001 .
