  1. Yes, no public stand at Addington, regular race goer / family not interested in hospitality packages
  2. There is obviously no planned path towards the top in the lead up weeks towards the race. This is governed by the ratings. There should have been at least 2 rating 64- 69 races to push horses into 70 + . To get there a rogressive programmer should be sorted before next year event.
  3. When you go into an agency and see this , it is very off putting. You need the full names of the horses on the screen. There was no reason to change
  4. My bet, was Navara top 2 ,Corovàlley Star top 2, Woodbine Rocks FFW. . Was going to add in Matederos top 2 but too low odds .
  5. You obviously have not read my view correctly, I never said I condone what he has done , I simply said for what I know he has not been convicted in a Court of law, just the JCA/RIB and should have got 7 years ( statute of limitations) . If the industry has allowed a convicted murderer back into the industry in the past , where is consistency. You plead quilty of murder in the district Court, max conviction is 7 years. Thankfully most of theses are High Court.
  6. So why do vets tube horses then ? Has Nigel got a conviction for this ?
  7. I'm referring to the statute of limitations here. 7 years , remembering that it is an industry regulation he has broken and not a criminal action , unlike Mitch Kerr.
  8. Anyone can do what they like regarding their horses, often licensed trainers will get former licensees others to break in horses etc. The only difference here that Nigel is a disqualified one which does not lshow the reputation of the industry in good light. However I did think his disqualification was excessive.
  9. I think we need to sort out radio coverage for all seven days before freeview unless it is streamed from TV to reduce costs.

Thinking that may happen more often with no freeze brand on our new stock coming through.
  11. Wind change, Blowing through Rangiora, can see and smell it.

I read an article where the American Author said that all mares now are good breeding as they have Meadow Skipper in it pedigree. Other than Falcon Seelster line most mares will have its pedigree. Falcon Seelster mares would be crossed with stallions that do have Meadow Skipper. Whether you agree or disagree please look at the success of Rocknroll Hanover and his brothers. Rustler Hanover and Red River Hanover were good race horses, but were not as successful sire wise in NZ. They have the same blood and breeding. Take Mach Three and Exteme Three, brothers again, the former was good for early runners and the other , his progeny needed time. I would think environmental circumstances determine more of a horses chances in reaching the races. Think of what In The Pocket did for the NZ breeding scene in the late 90's, culminating with the excelent Christian Cullen. Lordship, stood against the early AI American imports. Along with Mach Three in 00"s strengthening the Direct Scooter line. Falcon Seelster was the outcross for all these. You might want to read the Globe Derby/ Volomite thread in the Breeding section of this forum to get a more in-depth discussion.
  15. First of all - how is black pepper a drug ?
  16. Heats, second round heats, regional semis, regional finals then grand final/s mile racing should be a feature of the racing calender. Even throw in grass miles as part of the series or a stand alone one.
  17. The best horses should be the winner of these top races , not the best handicapped horse. Could be detrimental to NZ born stallions for their breeding future.
  18. Maybe not using mudguards are a ploy/ tactic, so following horse keep their distance otherwise they get an eye full of grit from the track., putting off their game. Other thing is I only got short mudguards for my sulky but have seen longer fitted on others. What size would be normal ? or acceptable. ?
  19. Not sure they were changed, what's the thoroughbred code doing ? Still having 2yo races ( new season) in November / December ??? - when harness horses still now only yearlings. ? As for Cambridge harness horse of the year awards ... Will have to eventually align with calender year ( or not) .
  20. Not sure what made A Rocknroll Dance move to an Aussie stud. Same thing with American Ideal I guess. More interest with their breeders at the Stud fee offered. Take Titin In America, unwanted here, moves to Aussie , then Shartin become World Champion mare. NZ lost a quality sire. NZ breeders stick to tried and true ( somewhat impatient with slower developing Sires wanting instant success) If we had brought in an even playing field (breeding caps like USA) twenty / thirty years ago we would have had a larger quality / diverse gene pool.
  21. Another significant reason for August is the racing dates ( meetings ) are usually locked in with the gaming licenses.
  22. The breeding season stays the same, August to (end of) March. Foals born during this time are deemed the same age. However a foal could be born late and miss the registration cut off date. Because they moved that forward fom 1st June ( before the season changes to calender year ). Waiting for that to change back ???
  23. Classy Dancer got up for the family and Hazer got the win expected by this punter at great odds.
  24. Do drivers not make mistakes ? How would you really know if the prescribed action been more successful ? Who would want to be a driver then ? Take Smokin Annie's recent win for example, down at the beginning of the back straight she was last, eventually every driver on the rails from that point other than the driver of Smokin Annie came off the rails which provided the win. Should not all the other drivers who moved outward from the rails be suspended ? We know that recent stats show that the rails are generally the place to be at Addington.?? Admitted to something in hindsight should not be relevant .Just like a winger in rugby , you have a split second to sidestep left or right , one could produce a try , the other results in a tackle being made on you. Ps. Haven't watch the actual race concerned but do not really think it needs to be to , ... to have my opinion as above.
  25. Haven't recieved any from them for depositing or use on specific race / event . Have got plenty from my multis missing by one though and the odd missed win bonus bet as they run 2nd to 4th..
