What is unfortunate Sheriff is, on the one hand, they cater for Whips & Spurs and as as we know they stumble out of there absolutely paralytic yet on the other hand they ban families etc that may want to take few cold ones into the infield on Boxing Day, New Years Day which also gives young ones exposure to racing.

Micky coleman rode in Singapore for a year against some of the worlds best so he lacks nothing in experience or ability so the original post is a load of rubbish.James Mcdonald blew them away from the moment he arrived in Aus.I agree with Ted Al Rocas Ride was very average and thats being nice.Micheal knows Xanadu better than anyone so I think it was the right move to take him over.She failed but im sure micheals imput after the race will be more valuable to the trainer than an aus jock who had never ridden her before

Yep. He's living the dream. As someone with a brother who is an amateur trainer, and who is taking his first horse to the trials next week, I know exactly how long and hard some guys work at this. If you don't have a lot of money, and work with cast-offs and broken down horses, to try and get a start - it's damn hard. I say go Alan, for all those wee battlers out there.

In an industry that is close to collapsing, maybe the Clark's of the world offer a lifeline - to coin a phrase "cheats on seats" these guys don't - can't afford to so at least you know they "are having a go" everytime they step out
