P4P has it in aces - you sow you reap - simple as - chickens have come home to roost and it ain't going to get better any time soon - IMHO even if the needed changes were made today, we are years away from righting the ills - they are on all fronts - very sad, as the racing game has become a joke, a once proud industry destroyed

This is probably a good chance for me to say thanks for all the support you have shown the Cookie Clan throughout this club and I am sure our big pay day will come soon. Think we need a well earned spell for everyone and hope we all come back fresh next year ( I wont call for numbers for next year yet as still over 2-3 months away if we kick off on Wellington Cup day again but hope we are all back next year and maybe even some returner next year get Mossey to pull Gruff's leg )
But some food for thought in the break any changes people would like to see and any gripes on the way we do things ( constructive feedback though please )
One thing for me is do we instead of having 2 goes each do we just all have 1 go and bet a larger crack or would the people drawn week 19 get bored of having to wait 4 months odd to bet?

Agree. And as for the statement about sheep on the track, get a life. You dont see sheep on tracks in Australia (probably not even a picnic track) or in Hong Kong. Those days have gone.
Your comment shows whats wrong with racing and some of the people in it

Turny reacted to Trump in Gingernuts
The thing is 2Admin, these people (including my niece) have had the good fortune to go into a syndicate for a modest sum and have ended up with a Rosehill Guineas and NZ Derby winner. Many of them, at significant cost to themselves, have booked and gone to Melb to watch their beloved Gingernuts run in a Spring Carnival G1 race. They are there, in the Stands, excited beyond anticipation and the unthinkable happens - the horse breaks down in front of 80,000+ people. Before it's even got to race ! Can you imagine their disappointment and more importantly, their concern for their Gingernuts? Then you add the cream to their sadness by going on social media and quote " It won't win another race". You're very insensitive and even if your prophecy turns out to be true, it was untimely and need not have been said. Period.

Turny reacted to Trump in Gingernuts
This thread has descended into a comparison between HB and MD and a suggestion that some are trying to put down Bowman as a rider. That's an incorrect conclusion. Bowman is a fantastic rider but like "every" rider does, he's having a tough trot - if you take Winx out of the equation. All the best have their bad runs and Bowman's own comment may provide the answer. He said he's been riding very cautiously because he feared being suspended and losing the ride on Winx and missing out on the lucrative Spring carnival. I'd have to say that he slaughted Marmelo and Corey Brown rode the perfect race on Rekindling to win the Cup. It was a pearler from Brown.

Leo and Nerula your ad hominem attacks on Winston are predictable. The fact is that if National had been returned to office the chance of their Racing Minister paring back the NZRB expenditure would have been ZERO. With Winston there is a chance that he might wield the scalpel in that area!

Turny reacted to cherry_bomb in Al Basti Equiworld NZ 2000 Guineas
A somewhat sparse looking lot this year. I imagine the weather has scuppered a few chances along the way and we will see this year's crop through the 2000 and 1000 Guineas not necessarily being the best 4yos running around next year.
Having not tracked these lads closely through the year I am coming into this a touch cold. There appears to be one decent overlay (Bostonian).
Sensei - Rating bumped up through weak wins and hasn’t crossed paths with any of these yet. Can't entertain at a ridiculous $5.50.
Bostonian - Proper fucking tough effort in HB Guineas. Wins Sarten but for being bowled. Going no concern. Wants strong tempo. I put this lad in as a $4 shot. Not surprised at all to discover after the fact that he's a half brother to Mufhasa.
Star Treasure - Doesn’t strike as 1600 type. Will improve on good going tho and can sprint.
Ever Loyal - Has a motor alright just lacks a sprint. May cross and lead
Te Akau Shark - Maiden win over 1100 franked well with Sarten winner and Ever Loyal behind. Went on to win over 1400 last time out in a 3yo race - form unfranked but easy win. Not raced on better than S7, though no reason he won’t handle it. $7s is fair.
Scott Base - Leaves it all too late all the time which is a poor profile for a NZ Guineas winner.
Embellish - Only 3 starts so comes in with big scope to improve. First time out this prep won, 2nd and 3rd easy winners next time out and one of them twice (Ever Loyal). Won an average r65 last time out with ease. Travels well, learning. Finishes well. OP up and chooses over TAS. Winkers on.
Age Of Fire - Skipped maiden company to win a winners race then failed last time out.
Lincoln Hills - Possible big improver on better going
Irish Flame - Always been highly tried. Only achieved a 2yo weak G3 win though
Upperhand - Ashburton maiden winner only
Finbarr - Optimistic entry
Upperhand and Ever Loyal should ensure a reasonable tempo.
My reading is that Bostonian deserves some more respect in the market for what he has achieved to date. Embellish does have more scope to improve however Bostonian has only 2 more starts to his own name and has potential to improve on better going. With the good news story of OP choosing Embellish over Ever Loyal and Gingernuts there could continue to be downward pressure on the current $3.20. If I'm wrong about that I will cover on Embellish, otherwise it is Bostonian all day at $6+.
