  1. Technically, they probably would keep the figure as they had paid out the owners so the horse had been sold, no matter what happened later.
  2. Ha ha, I'll keep my fingers crossed for your colt and us to get fillies!
  3. Touch wood, two in foal to him
  4. http://blog.inglis.com.au/ceo/ From the sounds of it, Jimmy had been repossessed by Inglis, and if anything like NZB, they may have been the insurers too (though how much is underwritten by a foreign interest would be ???) - so not too sure if being insured would help...

  6. So far, a Bullbars colt; an Ekraar filly; a Mastercraftsman colt; awaiting an Ego, Echoes of Heaven and Shocking... 2 of the mares have been served by Mastercraftsman and Redwood respectively, one to be served by Cape Blanco; one booked to Azamour (all going well with her foaling) and two yet to decide...
  7. The Perfectly Ready is back in work, so time will tell Took Tad to stud yesterday, she is in foal to Mastercraftsman and is due next week - all going well, she will be going to Cape Blanco.
  8. Three meetings, all with black type races, senior jockeys (especially those who can ride light) are very thin on the ground and as a result, we now have 3 and 4kg claiming apprentices riding in the Listed race at Counties and three horses yet to declare a rider... (great opportunity for the apprentices though)
  9. What are other people's feelings on fields being left open to allow for late nominations to be done by 9am, but those who pull out before that late nomination time are still left in until acceptances. It would seem the right thing to do would be to take those that had already pulled out off the nomination list at 9am when it is updated with the late noms. I can't really figure that one out besides the fact that I'm assuming you would then be charged a non-acceptance fee as opposed to potentially not being charged as the nominations had been left open. It does make it seem like there are more nominations, which to me, would cause some trainer's to not accept??? A minor thing I know ...
  10. Ha ha I know, I got to listen to them all the way to Waipa! And thanks
  11. I think it sounds stupid when they talk about bad results for the TAB if such and such wins, really makes it sound punter vs TAB and instead of encouraging punting for the punters to win ie being positive about it, it comes across like they hate it when punters win and continues this "brilliant" job they have been doing lately of keeping betting money in NZ - with all that negativity who wants a TAB account here? Someone needs to read a manual on positive reinforcement on behaviour and good marketing!
  12. They only do the first three home in order in the results - the rest is just whatever order the typist feels like putting them down as! Even harder to explain that one to owners, than the time in which it takes to get the videos up!
  13. Jockey Nikita McLean has successfully argued that a five-month suspension for assaulting her sister and fellow rider Jackie Beriman was “manifestly excessive”. McLean’s lawyer Patrick Wheelahan told the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board the suspension would equate to $70,000 in lost income. RAD Board chairman Judge Russell Lewis, allowed the appeal, reducing the severity of the original sentence to two-and-a-half months. McLean, who originally pleaded guilty to punching her sister in the face outside the jockeys’ room at Hamilton on April 14, can now resume riding on June 30. The Board heard the assault occurred as part of a marital row in which Beriman conducted an affair with her sister’s husband, jumps jockey Brad McLean. Judge Lewis said the case involved betrayal by McLean’s husband, which was aggravated and magnified because the other person involved was her younger sister. He ruled that stewards placed too much emphasis on McLean’s previous misconduct conviction for assaulting another jockey and not enough on McLean’s mental state at the time of the incident. Judge Lewis also cited the unique circumstance at the time of the assault in which McLean, Beriman and her estranged husband were all present at Hamilton races. McLean said she would now commit herself to repairing her relationship with her sister. “I’m further committed to ensuring that the conduct of all riders in the female jockeys room is professional and in keeping with the work place standards.” She also called on her fellow riders to support she and her sister.
