True, but it would only take one person, like someone on this site, to analyse what he does on his site and then expose any inconsistencies with what he gives on trackside - his reputation would be finished if it was a rort.
Aren't those 2 sentences contradictory? If the TAB are not concerned about his investing then they wouldn't care less about his value horses!

I see at Sandown last night they swabbed 39 dogs. Now wouldn't it be great to see the RIU actually step up and do something good for a change and try and catch some of the drug cheats rather than doing 5-6 swabs a meeting like they do at present. Gotta ask yourself sometimes if they really want to catch people or happy claiming the 3 codes are pretty much drug free!!

Whilst your on the topic of offending people I must add that the trainers you mentioned being the best also have the very best dogs money can buy hence making them the best trainers....your only as good as the dogs in your kennels pal.

I can only assume that you have inadvertantly poorly worded your post as Karen Walsh would never race a a dog that was injured and if you are casting aspersions then you owe her a very big apology.
Gary Harding paid a substantial amount of money for Disco Rain and since the dog's first brilliant win it has encountered several injuries and setbacks on the comeback trail. However I have seen the dog trial very well in recent weeks and it appeared that the dog was back injury free and ready to be competitive and that would have been the only way the Harding/Walsh team would even consider starting any dog. Disco Rain obviously went amiss today and you are correct as I heard someone from the kennel state after the event that it had run it's last race.
Whilst you are crying through your pocket think about how the connections must be feeling having invsted so much money. time and effort into this dog and it it has all come undone sadly. One thing's for sure they will ensure Disco has a happy retirement and a good home in which to live out his days.
Like many things in racing there's sometimes a very fine line between success and failure in cases like this. Until recently Pay Da Trail, who actually won the event today, was off the scene for some time with similar injury problems and he has made a successful return to racing despite many doubting he would even get back to the track. One can only try and if it doesn't pan out certainly don't need sore losers rubbing salt into the wound.

    Similarly with me.
However I query if the subscription method is the best model. It means only a few are going to read any hard hitting stuff. Punters when searching for tips aren't really interested in how dressed up with graphics a web site looks. Also keeping up with initial standard of graphics won't be easy.
I would hope that Fairfax makes a deal getting the web site into the fold so the it can viewed without cost.

So you have found the answer to what you consider negativity on this forum?   Again.   Yes jealousy is negative, but Scooby you play that card all the time.

Admin the general public will only remain ignorant for so long.
My theory is that starting gates for jumps races should be stopped, they hype the horse up a little and they often over race into the first jump which is often too close to the start.
Flag starts for jumps presents a much better option in my opinion.
I qualify this opinion on the basis of watching jumps races for 30 years and no science is involved, I could be miles off the mark.

Why 3 horses died on a day that provided better footing than most winter jumps days?
    Why did it occur?
    Are the horses prepped/schooled enough?
    Jockey's skilled enough?
As an observation, no science behind this, but I do keep a reasonable eye on this and a number fall at the first and last fences. I have a theory on why they fall at the first so often.

3 Jumps races so far and 3 dead horses, oh dear its an average look on Ellerslies 2nd biggest jumps day.
The jury's out on when jumps racing is finished. It's not if but when.
When it's would up in Aus we will follow suit not far behind.
I am staunchly in favour of it being maintained but when 3 are out down (so far) in a day, it's time for more debate on it.

Yawn - we have heard your view again and again.
I do not think most of these owners in the Purdon stable are making a lot of money - you only hear about the successful ones and plenty fall by the wayside. The cost of purchase and training fees and including all the duds there wouldn't be a lot of spare change left. Most of them are in it for the thrill and why do you begrudge them this? Also there are many different owners concerned in these different horses - it is not just one or two. Your comments seem to suggest they should support other trainers so they can survive - what nonsense. You must shudder when thinking of this years NZ cup when Purdon could realistically have half the field.
You say you own a horse - send it to Purdon and start to enjoy yourself - if your horse is limited on ability stick to your present trainer and keep whinging.

Yep, that's how Betfair works.  I was really referring to the fact you could back many runners for thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars on Betfair so most punters could have got set for whatever amount they wanted which is sometimes an issue...

Instead of the Jewels perhaps we should have the 'Wood' or 'paper' series where the top 12 are NOT allowed to start. Oh sorry, we already have a grass track circuit. The industry is in the shit as it is. If you're going to eliminate the best then it's easy for them to move to Aussie permanently but they'll still come back and take the plums anyway.Seems so many people want a top horse but they don't want anyone else's horse to beat it.
Jewels are the best of the best and just about the only day of the harness racing year when you get genuine racing people on course in numbers.
    Please don't knock it.

Almost everybody follows horses to see the best except you and your mates - fair enough but your bleating gets a little tiring

Betfair was insane for the jewels yesterday. How good would it be if the majority of nz meetings were like that! Some of the pro's made plenty by the looks. Massive go for Partyon!

There are a number of trainers that fit this scenario. Since drug testing became more stringent and accurate some trainers that once trained many winners now have few. This could just be a coincidence of course, but perhaps not...

I don't follow the question - Final field and Futures are two different types of bets.
Final Field is what you can take now that the field has been released - if it is scratched (eg. doesn't make the field or they elect to start in the other race) you get your Final Field money back.
Futures is what you would have taken prior to the field being released (eg. last week, last month, .....).  If the horse doesn't start you don't get your money back.  If it starts then yes of course your bet stands.

Apparently any comment on the integrity of the Integrity Units members is taboo, despite the wider media being free to publish such information.
Has the RIU recently taken over the running of this website, or just the balls of those running it!
Let's run a sweepstake on how long before this thread disappears too!

I am with Nimue on this one. However, like him, I am not exactly sure who the offender is! Either Ryan or Richard...but their general knowledge is just woeful. They really let the side down and much to my chagrin, are not even smart enough to listen when the name or word they are struggling with and have just totally hashed, is pronounced correctly by the other commentator! They come on again afterwards and just continue on repeating it wrongly over and over again. They don't appear well-read and even quite simple stuff at times seems to have them guessing. They come across as keen punters but not very knowledgeable outside of the confines of the TAB. As others have said, they do have good voice for radio but I would have thought that a bit more general knowledge would be called for in their role. Perhaps they are just young and I'm too old, but I often hear them and wince at their ignorance. Not a good look for the industry - although to be fair, it is an issue that pops up at times in other areas of the media also, with younger presenters a bit lacking in their general knowledge..  Rant over. Cheers!

One of my favourites was last week at Morphettville - horse called Felicienne.  The guy on Trackside Radio came up with something that sounded phonetically like "fella-seeny"
Yes it's a French name but you'd expect a radio announcer to be able to pronounce that or at least come up with something close.
