  1. Only saw the 12 o'clock cut off at about 11.59 thanks again for the great comp!! Always been one of my favs.
  2. If this guy ever gets his training license / is allowed to attend another greyhound meeting in NZ then the industry is more ****ed than I can imagine. SURELY a life ban will be put in place by the NZGRA.

    Cobalt

According to Mike Goober they do, and have been for about a year... He then blatantly ignored my two next messages asking what the limit was...
  4. Gary and Wassa you guys carry on like your old lovers who didn't end on good terms. I for one am sick or reading your pathetic childish arguments... If you can't keep on the subject of greyhound racing then bugger off and take it to private messenger or sort it out over the phone because it's become EXTREMELY tedious and you both look rather stupid.
  5. Went absolutely terrible for a 'champion supa dog'... Untraceable gave him about 10 lengths on the first corner and nearly ran him down!!!
  6. The alignment of the rugs is way different to the one down south IMO. Clear head margin in today's one by looking at the photo's.
  7. HRNZ has him down for 2nd in this same race aswell. 22nd Jan 2000. I think I would trust the TAB more than them tho. I'm sure someone will clarify. While searching for his race record I came across this article and found it to be rather peculiar. http://m.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=1676
  8. As long as they get to about 8k the tab take out rates will make up the difference. Have to laugh when you see a $40 shot win on any Australian race and the first 4 pays the pool of $1200 here and 40k on aus tab. Would be enough to make you sick.
  9. Fair to say 'someone knew' Ahh good old Rogie, the Gai Waterhouse of NZ racing.
  10. Or Buffering M4 R6 #1 for me thanks. Appreciate all the hard work you put into running this comp mate!
  11. Who shot thebarman?? Our staying ranks aren't nearly as diabolical as Australia when you think about it... They breed for speed a lot more than we seem to, they all want to win some race called the golden slipper apparently!
  12. Used to love watching them as a young lad as well, I think it stopped because of the lack of prize money and the small number of trainers that trained them. I very highly doubt there would be more than 10% of breeders that want sprinters, obviously it's a massive unknown when breeding and you never know what your going to get, just look at the Swift Fantasy or Aztec Keroma pups, one was a stayer that has thrown mainly sprinters in her first litter and the other was a sprinter that has thrown some very nice staying dogs. Obviously there's a far greater number of sprint races in NZ, that's driven by the NZGRA and the lack of prize money they have put into staying races, hence breeders are going for speed in their lines rather than strength which you will find in NZ. It doesn't help when people are breeding with dogs that can't run 300m and putting them to a speed sire, the MAJORITY of the time you will get dogs that can't run a middle distance. That doesn't mean people want sprinters tho, IMO it's a lack of knowledge when it comes to breeding and people 'hoping' their dog is going to throw a champion when it should be going to GAP. Just look at the prize money difference between sprint racing and middle distance racing, it's quite a lot.

    Cobalt

Just to expand a bit more, I would be shocked it cobalt / EPO isn't being used by certain people in NZ, especially with no blood testing / out of competition testing / the RIU's lack of wanting to get a clean sport. I personally know of a number of dogs that have dropped dead after having a race / training gallop over the last few years, I personally believe it wouldn't happen as much as it has if a dog is running clean. They are similar to an athlete, and it's certainly not normal for someone to be in peak physical condition and drop dead after exercising. IMO. I would love nothing more than having a clean industry and I believe it all starts with the RIU, bring in MANDATORY blood swabs and start testing all the winners and start doing random O.O.C testing ASAP. That is if the trainers, owners, punters want a level playing field!! If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about. With the amount of money the RIU spends each year and the amount of self praise they give themselves I personally believe they are a bit of a joke and need a major reform. Anyone that follows drugs in sport as closely as I do knows there will always be people pushing the boundaries, especially when $$ is involved. Micro dosing EPO / HGH is the 'new' thing when it comes to most professional sports, but with a proper integrity unit and drug testing regime I'm adamant we deserve far far better than what they are doing currently.

    Cobalt

I see in Victoria a trainer has been caught with 2 dogs returning positive to cobalt, anyone know if they are testing for it here? Every time I hear the RIU talking about it they say the 'two codes' ( thorougbreds, harness ) which makes me believe they are oblivious to it all. cheers for any info.
  15. Quite liked this post from James Saunders on G-Data as well, worth a post here anywho. "Great read no doubt but if you think PAWS concern for the industry is pink cards and FOL your mistaken they are going to crack down on post race dog destruction and that doesn't bode well for the empire. What stage of his 1500 acres is dedicated too his rehoming responsibility and I dont mean pebbles. Wake up idiots the guillotine is above our head and mega breeders are doing us no service only themselves. We wont beat community sentiment which wont tolerate these death rates but lets all applaud while the sports going down the gurgler. That will do my posts ive given up wheelers god."
  16. +1. Easily my favourite presenter, had a great knowledge and understanding of all 3 racing industry's and sport as well. Can't blame him for leaving tho can ya!! Guerin #2 Davis #3 Sweeney
  17. Didn't watch the race but based on looking at that and looking at both dogs size i would give it to the red. (32.2kg the red v 25.7) The one thing I can give the 6 in its defence is this is a close up of its nose in a previous race. Certainly would be interesting to view from the other side.
  18. http://www.greyhound-data.com/knowledge.php?b=2&note=1141769&z=2TWWXu Great read.
  19. You use the word champion far to much. Champions are few and far between my friend. Sunline / Black Caviar / Brett Lee / Fernando Bale are champions. You don't become one by winning 1 group 1. But you have never talked him up as you said above its all over the media... Lol. It's pretty funny reading back on this thread, for one you can find at least 4 of wassas aliases. Anyone with half a brain will be able to realise he's having a conversation with himself the majority of time. Sweeney, Bar Bar Black Sheep, Eagle Eye, Upthedoggies
  20. http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-raceday-inquiry-riu-v-d-daniels-decision-dated-28-december-2015-chair-mr-m-dooley Makes some interesting reading, not much different to Mr Orange's level. Obviously his 3 infringements previously count d against him but quite a difference in penalty's considering the similarity.
  21. So you don't have a problem with him being 3x over the limit and well over the new drink driving limit for driving a car? Wonder why they dropped that limit? Maybe because alcohol kills and the NZ Road tolls back that statement up ten fold. I think driving a car is a hell of a lot safer and more predictable than driving behind a horse that has a mind of its own. I think he got off very lightly, let's also not forget these guys don't drive in a race meeting every day of the week, I'm sure the owners of the horse's he was supposed to be driving wouldn't expect him to be up until 2am and being 3x over the limit come lunchtime that day. Storys like this are bad for the industry, when you see it all over the news it's certainly not a good look and isn't fair on everyone else working their asses off and trying to get new owners / punters involved. You may call me boring, or whatever you like for that matter but it's about professionalism, how many 'professional' sportsman would you expect to have a massive night on the booze and drinking 10 hours before they competed? I can tell you know they would have got a far harsher penalty than Mr Orange. I also get the feeling people's opinions would be FAR FAR different if he tested positive to Marijuana, regardless of whether he used it two weeks before or the night before? Why?
  22. O'grady not quite, Chippa Lata one from not long ago which was surprising to me. That's a pretty good list of dogs if you ask me and B2B is only a length or two off them as a young dog? Go watch the replays of the NZ cup semi when he gave crouch a start and put 4 lengths on him the last 100m. I really hope they get to meet in the Auckland cup series.
