  1. Hope you got plenty Pickel. Going by his last run I thought he was just a tad below the others. Great day for the Kiwis. De Lovely sensational - again.

    sulky tyres

The Aussie horse behind him punctured the tyre - at least it did on the race I watched.
  3. Won't win a group 1 in this country IMHO, but might in Oz.
  4. No, probably just tired. Have a look in the noms for the northern.
  5. Yep. Big in the early days of syndicates - and bookmaking.
  6. Been over for six months, just official now.
  7. Great result. Didn't see SS or MM but De Lovely was super impressive. FJ had the sit but cruised home and could be a big threat with the right draw in the final. DD didn't give up either. Had to lead from the pole but just might not be quite as seasoned as some of the others. Final draws will be all important.

Surely you're not putting James in the same class as MM????? My point was that as Lang drove him in the semi, he, as much as anyone, would know what it would take to beat him in the final.I hope he does win but the Ockers will beat him if they can.
  9. [quote SS, you do know of course that the British were rather impressed by Maori... thought they were Noble! also, the Maori had the 'smarts' to negotiate a Treaty - Moriori didn't : Neither Maori or Moriori had a written language so how do you know? The Brits instigated the Treaty signed largely by Maori thumbprints. There's no such thing as Moari, just those who want to align themselves having a small smattering of Maori blood. Let's just get on with being New Zealanders.

Can DD compete against a field of Aussie drivers??
  11. Did the job well. Just a little matter of-ummm- TEN LENGTHS. Guess that's racing.

    Robbie Close

....and Jason Noakes too. Doesn't get too many drives but a good second on Roman Empire at $20's a place and a good win on Touch of Rose.
  13. Simply needs to win a couple of good races over the late summer to regain some credibility here then $5K will be somewhere nearer the mark.
  14. Tend to agree and I think she only won by 2 votes. Don't know if it was a sympathy vote or if she was still alive when voting was done.
  15. They've only changed the limit for the kids DC. No show of changing it for the idiots.
  16. Thiry years or more ago all these parks were home to almost every sport, were poorly drained cow paddocks and scrum patches on a wet night became like pig swill - yet we had some great matches. Too bloody PC now. Test match or not, go hard or go home.
  17. .....or to the betting public before the race.
  18. Has his wife and family stood by him? Just a bloody sad story if you ask me.
  19. Tend to agree. Both appeared to be getting into the one out line at the same time and it seemed to me they actually locked wheels for a second which would have caused AT to break. Competitive driving if you ask me. Plenty of worse things happen seemingly un-noticed or un-punished and probably acted on due to AT being the hot pot.
  20. At 5 years old and given his past record here, surely he would be worth racing again. Victory in some good mobile start Australasian races would do his career nothing but good, restore some credibility and easily make up for missing this breeding season.
  21. Thing I most remember was that it had nothing on the sire line. Might ask the Reidman at the Park tomorrow - hope you're all having a day off work and coming along. Make yourselves known.
  22. Not yesterday though DP. Looked menacing but hardly threw any punches in the last 4-5 rounds then didn't follow up. Might be fit but still too heavy. Will find it hard to get anyone with any cred to fight now.
  23. No that's not it. Pretty sure was a gelding. Country ???????? or by a horse called Country??????. Quite obscure breeding just proving half the breeding's in the feeding. Will come to mind some time. Might have been 5 or 6 years ago. Probably only ran 52 which anything can run there these days.
