I drove past the old Hutt Park Raceway the other day. Very sad the demise of that place. Would not have missed a meeting there for 20 years from the late 70s until they stopped racing there in late 90's.  

Four wins on the Premier night. Timmy didn't miss a beat.

Mitchell blew it. Had to use the passing lane and didn't. Beaten a head making a poor decision. Had the rights to the passing lane and didn't use it. Cost his horse at least a length at the top of the straight. Stipes should have charged him.

I've been watching trotting races for almost 50 years. I vividly remember Johnny Globe winning the 1968 Banks Peninsula Trotting Cup with Wes Butt in the sulky. Had a decent wager on Junior's Image in the 1971 Interdom final at Addington and clearly recall the aftermath 5 days later. Spent a few days at Colin McDonald's place back in 1971 trainer of Hakim who became a cup class pacer.  Those would be my earliest memories. I doubt you even go back to the eighties.

Run of the race for me the way the race went. Last on the turn and looked anything but a hurdler the last 400 metres.  

Teaz is awful. He makes so many mistakes. Race 1 Otaki trots the other day he calls Commando One clearly in second place over Aunty Jan. Didn't even say it was close. Just awful inaccurate commentating.

I agree there are major form reversals over two day carnivals that sometimes are a little suspicious. Particularly on the Manawatu circuit.
Although 2nd day at Nelson went pretty much to plan with R.May, J Dunn and DD dominating the card.

This field is no weaker than any of the three Cup fields Castletown beat 20 odd years ago. In fact it would be considerably stronger than his third win in 1994. The Wellington Cup has had a swag of glorified highweight horses win it over the years. That is just the type of race it is. Yes the current handicapping system is a joke but don't kid yourselves that this field is any weaker than a host of previous cups we have seen.

Good question. If not struck in NZ and Centrebet have accepted a winning bet then they do declare a dividend. Not sure how this is worked out.
 
Example race three today at Timaru. Trifecta dividend  $7496-40 (NZ declared divvie as per usual) and F4 dividend $45-75 although not struck on NZ Tab.

I respect that.
