so very true Louise! As a small breeder its a bloody tough game with little or no reward. We are no all in the champagne and caviar set you know!

FULL brother to Golan

The mating is closer than discussed. 2x2 to full brother and sister. I have done 1/2 dozen matings in the past with close inbreeding but only 2x3 or 3x2. The results have been disappointing. Most were small and or had temperament issues. The resulting foals if fillies and bred from did not have good fertility, even a daughter of a mare that had 14 foals! Everyone should experiment for themselves and different lines may yield different results but I'm not keen to try again.

Hi Nearco Like you I have no connection to either stud but have seen Patapan last year at the Waikato Stallion Parade. He is an imposing horse with a huge jowl. I haven't seen Per Incanto but he looks like a nice horse albeit different from Patapan. I see Patapan's first horse to trial was a winner today, so a good start.

Forgot to mention that as things are now I pay stud fees and virtually end up giving the fillies away: the market isn't going to get any better if I keep paying out big bucks. We need to grown our domestic market, not send breeders into bankruptcy or bedlam in the meantime.

i think its a great idea. As someone with 2 two year old fillies and 2 Yearling fillies I applaud any farm that makes an effort to help breeders. Don't agree with you at all Jess but it is your money so you can always go to a farm that offers no incentive whatsoever. Thats the great thing about the free market. After paying fees to breed filly after filly I would view the arrival of a filly with a little more optimism if I knew I'd get a free return.
