Takanini now would be worth a billion. In 20 years time the Elerslie Hill would be worth 500 million. Do what the Poms do....don't sell ...just organise it correctly and what ever you do...don't sell it

We stopped the repeated process of renaming horses with names that were those of group winners of not that long ago. Melody Belle by Taipan, trained by Ray Verner was seriously good. Then there was Melody Belle by Commands. Today I notice that the favourite of the 2000 Gns is Noverre. Noverre only just died, was a very good race horse and a half brother to Arazi.
Why do we do this/ I don't get the logic

This year's running is a rated 85 race. A shame. It's all about the DNA of the broodmare band and that is where we have failed abysmally. How can we have good race horses racing in our 2000 Guineas when we don't have the blood? Horses like Darci Brahma find it difficult to produce a group one winner in Aussie, as does Sacred Falls. Aegon looked like a champion here. Over in Oz he's a group 3 horse. Atlante can't breed a good group one winner in Oz, Jimmy Choux hasn't made it. It's actually a long list now.
What we've got to do is work out how to get 250 internationally mares that have DNA that have the possibility of breeding 120+ rated horses. It's that simple. Preferably would be that these 120+ horses in the pedigree are colts which would mean that genetically they could be kept as colts. Yep...we've got a problem with how we train our colts in NZ. They can't go to the track and stand in tie ups where next door an in heat filly has pissed over the ground a fortnight ago. Same with horse floats and race tracks. Separate barns are an absolute.

We hasn't anyone done some proper commercial analysis on the pros and cons? Where are the hard facts? There must be some sort of financial base plate for this sort of thing. I've now read a lot of the submissions and most of them are waffle and more waffle. Not impressed by Auckland's submission. It just doesn't seem to capture what needs to be an in depth discussion and position of the industry in general and they should be the primary leaders by default.

So if the papers have been consistently reporting that a horse is aiming at the Arc, the bookmakers have him in as the favourite for the Arc, and someone reports that it's going for the Champion Stakes (2000m), wouldn't you want to know (as a viewer of the information), in respect to the Championship race in Europe, what fact is correct or incorrect? That's not being a Norman know-it-all...that's being accurate as a reporter...It's not an opinion....it's a fact.
I certainly wasn't being caustic...so that lends me to consider why the use of that word occurred at all?!?!
    Jeeeez....

Geez I hate it when all one does is post the facts and because people who think their importance is worth more than the facts, they distort away from the facts.
    This is what I said...
"I’m sorry Stoodgie but I don’t agree with your interpretation of the Champion Stakes. I would call that Luxembourg is absolutely aiming at the Arc. I also thought that Vadeni was a dead set unlucky runner that would have won the race with a better run, not only was he denied a run on the outside at a crucial stage of the race, then followed by a really impressive change of gear, followed by a cramped run on the rails where for 100m the space was too right and when he got through he ran out of runway. "
So I start with a polite apology but state I don't agree with you. Why you might ask? Because you said this in your post...
"LUXEMBOURG was having only his third outing of the campaign and horses coming into the autumn fresh are at such an advantage over those who have run through the summer. I imagine he'll go for the Champion Stakes rather than the Arc and he's another, like Adayar, who enters the autumn picture fresh"
I do note that now....in your recent post....you state that Luxembourg is now going to the Arc. Your first post wasn't correct....hence me not agreeing. It had only been reported from the stable, for the past 6 weeks, that the primary aim was the Arc. The bookmakers have had him in that market as one of the favourites for the past 4 weeks!!
The pace wasn't that hot in the St Ledger. The race was actually run 6.9 seconds below standard time and all you can say about it was that the pacemaker didn't fade out of the race, as he only finished 2 3/4 away from the winner. It was a good ride by Heffernan, set the pace for the stablemate (Luxembourg) but try and win.
So to Vadeni. He's a slight horse, quite athletic but not at all a stallion type of a colt. A bit effeminate you might say. But he's a real athlete. He's got a good turn of foot and in my humble opinion, could have won the race (the Champion Stakes) with the breaks.
So Stoodgie....where on earth in my previous post am I caustic?. You got it wrong my friend...Just keep to the facts and we'll get along just fine. Don't over inflate things...and if you want to report things...don't become a tipster...I read you posts because I'm interested in your view of the World of UK racing.
Scoobie's worried I'll scare you off with the facts.....

It's fair to say that we've all known about how good Baaeed is, every since his first race at Leister. In that start he missed the kick, travelled like a horse in a different class and murdered them.
He's the real deal in terms of one of the best that you would ever find. I'm not sure if you've watched his last race (the Judmonte) that Stodge kindly posted but that's real deal stuff. He's up there with his sire Sea The Stars, Frankel and Dancing Brave. There is one other on the planet that may keep up with him and that is Flightline in the States.
I'd pay any money to see them race against each other over 1600-2000m

Why can't we get a good government? Where are the good people making good policies for the benefit of New Zealanders? Why can't we somehow get good policies in front of people who can make change? We really should be creating a virtual government that ensures people's voices are heard.

Won his first by 6, fractured a shoulder. Has tended to be a Tavistock brained horse but finally sorting his act out. Has won 6 from 13. Won the Country Championship on Oaks day....$500k race, then an open 1200m at Flemington. Latest win was to see whether get settles over 1600m....he now does. Melbourne spring is his challenge. Entered him in the Caufield and Melbourne Cups.

Pressed the wrong emoji as a response in your post I'm afraid. It should have been a serious frown....Grammar and diction is not about an opinion....it's a well established base of language data that should be taught/ was taught for millennia. It is the foundation of an entire language base that is universally acceptable enough to endure formal examination that makes up part of a universally acceptable school curriculum.  It starts with spelling and finishes with grammar.
Any presenter should have an understanding of this.....enough said because if you don't understand this then it tells me a lot about those who object to this position.

Scooby....I agree with Palliser and had the same reaction. You might remember the wrath I copped when I called out an appalling piece of commentary on Trackside. Wasn't that long ago. I also approached Trackside. I gave them an outline which had been provided to me by a BBC correspondent which outlined the simple protocols that presenters need to incorporate to do the job properly...you know....lesson 101 stuff. I followed up  to understand what happened to the suggestions because I received no response....nehts, nada, nothing....typical TAB type behaviour.
Our industry presentation is so mediocre it's embarrassing. That we have to point out that Trackside is a front shop window to our industry and that the quality of our industry is reflected through the presenters, is wrong. We need people who can speak with knowledge, correct grammar (a horse doesn't "go good" it "goes well"), and pleasant diction. That unfortunately is not happening at the most basic level.
I'm with Palliser on this one

They are about as personal as you can get, and if you don't realise that, that's not you, not on everybody else. Who are you to decide what is professional, and what is not? It's all only personal opinion, is it not?

Im with Berri on this. Who doesn't criticise a player in sport watching them? If you put yourself in the professional arena you get criticism. Its part of the game. It wasn't personal it was an observation that could make her better. Its the usual Kiwi thing. Its ok unless its someone we know/or like then its an issue.
