A sharp reminder to Alex Park - starter for the stands also has an obstructed view, especially when there are unruly horses starting back from the line up.      Starter is at ground level which makes his job very difficult.   He used to have a stand but for some reason that removed.      Surely his position should be a la Cambridge - beyond the fence on the outer and elevated.      After the cock up at Ellerslie this is a timely reminder and perhaps the stipes should look at this if the Club don't want to .     

Tauranga can sink for mine - they kicked out harness after a long association.     Too many raised noses down there me thinks

Sorry, but he has to go.    The Aussies will monster him.     Who to replace him, well I haven't taken a lot of notice of the local stuff but as an opener we need someone with experience.    I know he's been found wanting in the long form, but Guptil has experience at least against the best - let him blaze a quick 30 or 40, that more than we getting at present, and his fielding not shabby anyway.

Somehow NZ have to show grit and determination before a test, not just the beginning of the inevitable.      
They should treat any individual score under 40 as a failure and similarly taking less than 2 wickets.     
And while it is good for the selectors to show faith, they also have to be ruthless and not be afraid to drop players.      At the moment the players know they will still be in team regardless of failures.

I don't mind the noise Tim (unless the noise maker is within arms length of me) but surely the fans can hush a little when the race is on.      Believe it or not some people actually go to the races for the races!      I can swear with the best of them, but it does wear a little thin when drunk females no older than 15 or 16 let's fly with a string of expletives at the top of her lungs.   And unfortunately they get served at the bar all day in contravention of the liquor laws - any money taken is fair game.       

That surely is one of the reasons, but horses being animals are unpredictable.     Every meeting there is usually one example of a re-start, but because the offending horse(s) get another chance the punter overlooks these indiscretions.

Most of attendees in various stages of intoxication.    Very noisy on ground floor for so few patrons - most of whom did not either watch or were aware a race was running.      Aaron superfluous to requirements as unable to be heard over the racket. 

Well it does contain the bare facts, doesn't it??

Gary - if you think it's a win/win then good for you but I don't see it as such.     A poor product will ultimately rebound on the industry.    It may be bulk funded, but only 8 races means owners (and trainers/drivers through percentages) have missed out on stakes from 1 or 2 races which I can't smile and say is a win.
