  1. Poor old Phil - looks like he forgotten ,
  2. This is a big laugh. Come on guys do you want him to throw out all the winners? They would finish up paying ten bob for a win.
  3. Be so much easier if the whip rules were scrubbed and replaced with an inappropriate use rule. How the hell a driver can be fined for even one strike beggars belief. You dont have to be a genius to see when a whip is used excessively, inappropriately or unneccessarily. Just watch an Aussie race for example - how often do you see the horses with no chance of winning get the stick. Often and without censure. Come on HRNZ you tell a driver to show vigour when he got a chance of running in the money but when he does try all he gets is a fine or a holiday for excessive or inappropriate or unwhatever else use. We all dont want animals dealt to in a cruel manner but I'm sure if you just resorted to fines and got rid of suspensions with fines being increased by a large amount most of the problems would be solved.
  4. Can't see many changes - in fact bugger all

    Aaron White

Boy this thread has deviated somewhat from it's initial sunbject!
  6. Don't really see your problem. Damn near every sport has a handicapping system. Harness races have raced for longer than I have been on this planet however back a generation or two the punters accepted handicapping and treated it as just one factor in the equation when picking their fancy. Why change the rules - look whats happened in the ball sports with all the rule changes. Yes we all like to make an easy buck, but if that was possible the sport would not exist. Incidentally regarding last weeks incident which the naysayers have been quick to jump at - the problem was not altogether the fault of the horses.
  7. If they reckon this new agreement will increase revenue for the industry then they must be acknowledging a hell of a lot of money has gone off shore. People are not going to magically increase their investments or there will be a sudden influx of new clients. This new mob are not going to do it for gratis so their take will be out of the same pool as where the TAB takes theirs from, and they surely will not reduce their take. A hell of a lot is taken from the gambling dollar as it is so the TAB should front up and tell us the rude fact - how much under this new agreement will be taken from the dollar invested?
  8. Of course Iraklis I'll be in my usual seat!!
  9. p.s. That's not a bob each way - it's a penny each way lol.
  10. A bit of a pig in the poke.. Self Assured and Old Town Road not as sharp as last year and Copy That has been a bit of an egnima lately. Is Lebowsky tough enough yet for an open class 2 miler and Kango wont get it his way this time. Akuta also not quite up to last years sharpness either. The other 3 nice horses but it doesn't look like they quite the class yet although Col's one could sneak a place. One thing though it should be a good race and horsemanship very vital over the supreme distance.
  11. Trackside are only supposed to fleece your pocket, not fill it. You dont have to take or even read Craig's selections but obviously you do. I never look at what he throws out and still never win so what the big deal.
  12. Election year. Something still up the sleeve you can guarantee! Will taste sweet for the left wing & the swingers?
  13. I heard the powers that be have further put the boot into North Island racing with poor allocations. No one I spoke to about this has any clue when they will be released except to say "hopefully soon".
  14. I see he has engagements Rangiora Sunday - ?appealed
  15. The Wairau Creek needs URGENT attention. Every little "April shower" causes flooding - Mr Mayor - get your troops in action.
  16. Why does this government pander to them Chuck them in the paddy wagon then into the cells with nothing but stale bread & water for a week. Bet they would think twice about doing it again.
  17. Blood clot I believe
  18. Not that he's in the very top band, but I believe Alta Wiseguy is off to the spelling paddock.
  19. What you expect with HRNZ condensing all the northern racing into a tight window. Akuta pulled out because too much racing over a small period, Copy That although ran well looked to be in the same boat. These are animals not machines. The older the sturdier. Now a wee break & into the two races mid to late May. Whose turn will it be to win these? For the sake of sanity the Aucklanf Carnival has to revert back to December surely!!

    Oh NO TAB

Perhaps the "mew" owners will put an end to this foolishness. Woops, something just flew past my window!!
  21. Will the Maori get involved. Surely they grew Kumera in Potters Paddock!
