There are some fabulous people in this game, many of whom I am lucky enough to know. Unfortunately, there is also a small percentage of not so fabulous people whose toxic behaviour is not attractive. Kick em' to the curb Steve. As for transporting dogs, you have to have crates available for that to happen. No crates, no transport. Obviously, the person concerned is a rocket scientist.

Please over the last month rumours going around about me have got to a sickining stage.....1...i never refused to bring any dog back from christchurch...i had no room which was explained and when i did i bought 2 dogs back for different people on finals night....but never again...2....i am not in financial trouble and no i do not have to move out of my home by friday this week....i am morgage free on my property at maramarua with kath and also own my new block of land at tekawhata morgage free on my own and thirdly no i never had a argument with pinny macks owner at wanganui on friday... we have never had a bad word with each other at anytime....get a life

Dogs crap in the kennel block on a weekly basis without being scratched. If the dog was considered to be suffering from diarrhea it should have been vetted immediately in consultation with the trainer or person in charge. That is why a vet is there. If protocol was not followed that would be of concern. If the dog's temp was then taken later and returned a normal reading then the cause of the elevated temperature would have been due to kennel anxiety, a common cause of kennel crap. To my knowledge, a dog cannot be scratched on medical grounds without first being examined by a qualified vet.

He has admitted the dogs temo was taken after the dog was scratched...my whole point is he scratched the dog without a vet check...the dog had not been looked at at all...

What the hells going on ....mad harry scratched with no vet check...just a conversation between vet and stipe because the dog pooped in his kennel....then after they scratched it they decided to take its temperature.....surly before a dog is scratched it is intitled to a vet check.....poor decision mike austin....poor guy travelled 6 hours for this for you to tell him you know more about grehounds than him....man no one could look at a bed and say the dogs scratched......no wonder there is no respect for the riu  ...

Common guys...you need a university degree to get in now...basic common sense is gone....look at our head guy now..all that they want is puppets not people that have any knowledge off greyhound raceing...again look how long our own lp rep voted in stayed....biggest failure ever......please someone tell me what he did??????and let's be honest this head guy will end up the same....a failure

I see the argument of NZ vs Au as hypocritical for a number of reasons. You mentioned one CD breeder specifically and I would like to make comment on that because it is a prime example of the hypocrisy of this argument. If you look at the number of litters bred/sires used in recent seasons you will notice the absence of NZ sires fathering progeny from that kennel. This breeder does not support local sires, I presume because he doesn't believe they are good enough. The money outlayed for straws all goes back to Aussie as does the money for any straw purchased from Australia. I see no difference in importing semen to importing dogs. So if you want to go down the let's ban imports route, why don't we ban semen imports as well, let us support the local sires and keep breeding totally in house? This is a kennel that is held up here in the CD as a shining example of NZ breeding yet they also race imports. Given the numbers bred, why would imports even be considered? I also find it ironic that the last kennel star was not the product of that kennel but instead the deliberate pairing of a small time breeder. If you are going to allow large-scale breeding then you need to ensure that the numbers produced can be re-homed at retirement. Don't try and pass blame on to someone who chooses to not to breed.

Again after talking to Greg yesterday...its not the small trainers that are causing the problem...its the kennels that bring dogs over with 2 tickets and then  they get 12mnths and disappear ...I think there 1st move will be banning dogs with 2 tickets...and I think they will judge this on what they do from now on......most australian classed...so called .non chasers I have had have not gone to gap...they still live here....piggy back...magic spike ...lady shambi...royal doll who threw derby winner grizz and Peking tom a good sire in his own right....swiftfantasy....redneckcrazy...nonnas girl who was a super broodie.. throwing blitzing mayhem  NZ cup winner and never throwing on any bad traits to her pups....she would be dead if I never bought her here as would the rest off them...then you have a dog like reilly's mate...super dog that would not have been givin a second chance.....in fact I've had one I couldn't change and that was robius hagrid......I've had to put down more of my homebreeds  because gap failed them..

No one who races dogs as a hobbie, for the love of it, is making money. At best covering costs. Case in point, the best strike rate trainer in our history K.Walsh (G.Harding) does it as a hobbie, and I suspect he is down millions of dollars. 
The only people making money are the same people bringing the game in to disrepute with headlines/allegations of animal cruelty/cheating etc because with 'professionalism' and the need to turn a profit comes cheating, corruption, ruthlessness etc.
Greyhound racing was a 'hobbie sport' it will never be able to go back to that great place, it's too dirty and tainted now. 
 

Sad thing is honestly who is making a real living out of greyhound racing  no one ..you have trainers that train by numbers but numbers cost.....you have someone like Karen that loves strike rates...but do they make money?...you have people that bring in imports...do they really make money....the cost is real high and theres mo garreentee ....you have people that breed there own litters...but again with costs how much do they make....but at the end of it without all these people we dont have greyhond racing.....so let's enjoy everyone's way of staying afloat and doing something they love...

Mike agree 100pc...until we get the right inforstructor eill fo no were...breaking in pups is so hard and time consuming....I've said all along if grnz used there brains they would set up levin with a track and employ a specialist person to over see breaking in and at the same time have a training venue for young people coming through..
