  1. There is no magic fix to racing’s woes. Racing has to be an attractive betting product for the younger generations and they are no big gamblers at present. Can Racing have some commercial connection with Lotto?
  2. Showcasing and Iffraaj are the best sires of 2 year olds this season They are standing for 35,000 Euros and 45,000 Euros respectively in the current northern breeding season Their service fees in NZ are massively discounted by Haunui Trust breeders will appreciate the quality of these two international sires
  3. I purchased an unraced 2 year old Pentire filly for $1500 several years ago Her 1st foal was a Colt by a proven but uncommercial stallion and two experts informed me that the foal lacked scope and was foalified I sold him for $50k at weanling sales. He was re-presented at the yearling sales where he sold for a record auction price for his sire and is now in Ciaron Maher’s stable in Melbourne i have his 1/2 sister in Book 1 So bargains can be found
  4. Showcasing is having a magnificent season - look at today’s Wakefield’s Stakes G2 result. 1st and 3rd. Look at his Singapore results multiple winners each meeting. Haunui has two world class stallions and their 3rd horse Belado is a very interesting stallion prospect. Well down Mark, Shannon and your team
  5. We have selected Belado as a mate for our Pentire mare. His G1 race wins were impressive and he is quality individual He is probably the best 1st season sire out of Europe to stand at stud in NZ Haunui Farm under Mark Chitty's leadership is a stud going places
  6. Echoes of Heaven is a stallion with offspring running very well at present. We have a cracking EoH yearling colt to sell at Karaka next year
  7. National has a very capable young female cabinet minister called Nicki Kay who is as good as if not a better Poli as Jacinda. Perhaps the Old Boys club in National should promote Nicki to a leadership position
  8. This is a very good idea. Steve Davis would do a very good job as a narrator for such a film. It would be an opportunity to introduce a wide range of stallions to potential breeders. The Waikato and Auckland branches of NZTBA should take up this initiative
  9. Is this Stud going to again stand stallions this season as Ekraar and Echoes of Heaven are not advertised in the 2017 Stallion Register? Both these stallions are performing well enough as sires to stand elsewhere if they become available
  10. Haunui has an excellent international stallion line up. Probably the best sire offering at any NZ farm. Showcasing has 330 foals from his last three SH foal crops so there is a lot more progeny yet to race. In the U.K. He stands for PDS 25,000 which is the high esteem in which is placed in the NH. Power stands in the UK for PDS 8,000 but stands for the same fee in NZ
  11. I saw Preferment today at Brighthill. A very nice horse just out of training He looks like Zabeel's natural successor and I will be breeding to him
  12. Another G1 winner at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne Stakes
  13. Agreed Also the tremendous win by New York Minute another quality Iffraaj
  14. Congratulations Allan well deserved honour
  15. David Bennett has been MP for Hamilton East for many years and is likely to retain his seat at this year's elections. He is a dairy farmer and I am aware that he has attended Racing events in Hamilton. I hope that he does a good job in this important portfolio.
  16. Are Chris and Danielle related? l
  17. Another Group winning 3 year old by Iffraaj in Brisbane today I understand that Iffraaj is a sire that has not previously been supported by the major studs so this may change in 2017 Based on his progeny's current race results that he is NZ's best 3 year old stallion and most promising dam sire
  18. Iffraaj sired a U.K. Group 1 stakes winner Ribchester on Saturday I understand that he has a full book for the 2017 breeding season
  19. Iffraaj's progeny 1st and 3rd in 2 year old race at Matamata today. The winner Griffin looks an excellent 3year old prospect for next season the way he ran on
  20. Another quality Iffraaj 3 year colt with Prince Hareem winning impressively at Te Rapa on Saturday.
  21. Congrats Haunui at keeping Iffraaj's 2017 service fee at a modest $25,000 which is very affordable for our breeders. Compare this service fee to the Australian based stallions fees. There are probably 50 plus Aussie sires standing at a higher service fee than Iffraaj. He is now a serious sire and has started his career as a broodmare sire with a bang. If he stood in Aussie imagine what increase his 2017 service fee would have been on the back of his 3 year colts achievements We bred our K1 mare to Iffraaj these past two seasons and also have a young broodmare Mistaar by Iffraaj.
  22. Countofmontecristo looks a very good horse in the making. Now a dual Group winner next race is a Group 1. Let's hope NZB note this and give the progeny of his sire Echoes of Heaven more credibility for future sales. upgraded
  23. Iffraaj has left a NZ 3 year old crop that is one of the best in my memory. He has sired five 3yr old colts that are stakes winners starting with Karaka Millions Winner Xiong Feng, and followed by The Soultaker - since sold to Hong Kong. Then followed the Group winners Wyndspelle, Gingernuts and Jon Snow - the last two are unbeaten in Australia. And before these 3 year olds we had Turn Me Loose. Iffraaj had only two yearlings in the Karaka Premier Sale this year. He now deserves to be now recognised as an elite stallion - just like Tavistock whose stock were significantly upgraded for our last sale series. Well done to Haunui, Mark, Shannon and your team
  24. I was saddened to hear that one of NZ racing's leaders Herby Dyke passed away today. Herby put a lot into our sport and he will remembered through his continuing sponsorship of several Guineas races at Waikato, Avondale and Wanganui. Herby was a pioneer of the motor vehicle industry in NZ and he ran excellent businesses. I was privileged to have known and worked with him.
