Chameleon got a reaction from Black Kirrama in Jockeys this century who won on debut in NZ
I found this article to add to the mix:
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/southland-times/sport/racing/5010861/Rare-riding-feat-at-Ascot-Park
Rare riding feat at Ascot Park
JAMIE SEARLE05:00, May 17 2011   ROBYN EDIE Trio: Ingrid Miller yesterday spent time with her Ascot Park winners Theruler (left) and Relampago. Ingrid Miller's remarkable riding record at Ascot Park on Sunday could be a first in New Zealand thoroughbred racing.
The 18-year-old apprentice was riding at a race meeting for the first time and her two mounts won. Miller won the Wairio Plate on Theruler and rode Relampago to victory in the Wairio Cup.
A cup race among the wins made the feat more notable
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing's licensing officer Matthew Barnsley said he had not heard of another rider having two winners from as many rides on their first day of race-riding.
Records of former jockeys Judy Lawson and Ross Elliot show that they went close.
Lawson won her first two rides, but not on the same day. She scored on Gypsy Tap at Ascot Park on March 17, 1990, and partnered Melody Fox to win there two days later.
Ross Elliot was successful with his first three rides - all at Awapuni. Ellen Killeen was Elliot's first winner, on June 8, 1985, while a week later the Bellissimo mare and Scorching Bay gave the rider more success.
Laura Parker, on her third day of race-riding, gained three wins at Oamaru on August 24, 2003. She was unplaced on two mounts at Riccarton earlier that month.
Auckland-Waikato stipendiary steward and former jockey Matthew Williamson said Ingrid Miller's achievement was ''extremely rare. I can't think of anyone else who's done it''.
Southland steward Mike Lawson, who was a jockey in the 1960s and 1970s, also could not recall another rider winning their first two rides at their debut race meeting.
''In the early days, there was a big number of jockeys and apprentices didn't get many rides,'' Lawson, of Winton, said.
Trainers Brian Anderton (Wingatui) and Graeme Rogerson (Hamilton) were also contacted yesterday by The Southland Times.
''I've never heard of it happening before. You'd be pretty safe to say she's the first,'' Anderton said.
Rogerson was impressed by Miller's riding style.
''I thought her riding ability was very good,'' he said.
''She kept her balance and didn't panic . . she sits good.''
Miller yesterday said the two wins gave her ''a fairytale start'' to her career on the race track.''
''I don't think it's hit me yet,'' Miller, of Invercargill, said.

Not sure about Peter Hurdle, but it jogged by memory regarding Ross Elliott who I think won his first 2 or 3 from as many rides.

..And we are doing the opposite, with the closure of the lesser lights, and that'll transpose into the loss of jobs.
We are about to embark on the One Racing's mantra called the Messara report, with it's supporters just wishing and hoping that something good will come from the new initiatives.  It'll be a disaster akin to watching a slow motion train crash ..with people being chewed up and spat out by the monolithic monster as it progresses through the fabric of New Zealand Racing.

Was it indicating one or more events were unavailable? If so, it is likely the event or events was/were suspended while the odds were being adjusted. Between 10-11am on Saturday's, this is a regular thing. Both sport and racing (Oz in particular) are often unavailable for at least 10 minutes

The Cubmeister is pretty sure no-one out there in 'Caferland gives a flying toss , but anywhoo.......
This is how the Pins mare in the last @ Riccarton on Saturday got her name....
Cubes went up to Karaka for the first (and last) time back in January 2016
Obviously wanting to rule the world by way of dominating South Island Racing , the Cubinator had got prior management permission (i.e. Mrs Cubes had been bribed into agreeing) to purchase 4 yearlings and bring them back down South and win everything from Guineas to Karaka millions and become rich and famous....
    However...
Basically Cubes lost his bottle in the auction ring and got very hot and sweaty and the thoroughbreds we wanted seemed to go for gazillions over our budget and it was very stressful and Cubes is cheap so doesn't want to pay too much and it was very hot and we only went to the Festival sale which is the last day out of 6 but then Cubity had a couple of beers and managed to pick out two fillies eventually...pheww !!!
And then they went to George Simon's place for agistmentness and Shelley Houston for breaking in and then came South and then did not much and then trialled and one is an absolute donkey but then we had to decide on names and over numerous glasses of vino collapso nothing was ever agreed on and then the Trainer got stroppy and said they couldn't start without a name and then Mrs Cubes pushed the eject button on the CD player in the car and "Hot Fuss" by the Killers popped out and that is how the Pins mare in the last @ Riccarton got her name .

Oh .... and I forgot to mention that the $1.5m Feilding community's asset is also owed to them in a loan to RACE. Not a good example of success for this type of thing in my view Jefferson and you want more of the same?

I will guarantee something. That is implementing the Messara proposals will lead to the same outcome as the status quo but probably sooner.

And I don't think Feilding is a successful example. Didn't they go from a debt free balance sheet at the time of joining RACE to being owed the value of their assets with little hope of that ever being repaid and added a share of some $8m of debt?

I'd be very surprised if any of the tracks that are to be closed aren't financially self sustainable , so what they are saying is we can't keep those ones open because the way we have structured racing in NZ they need to be sold to keep the ones open that have had to have financial input into them to already stay open not to mention the best of dates etc.

Some serious ignorance there though, what have clubs been doing sitting on cash reserves? Well they've been planning for the future but have been unable to do based on how they have been treated in the past , the appalling leadership/favouritism shown by the governing body , do any of these guys have any experience sitting on race club committees etc. If youre not on one of about 12-15 clubs in NZ you're club is mostly treated with disdain , most of those clubs outside that number are now on the to go list.
So over hearing how the industry can't support the infrastructure of all of these clubs when  a huge amount of them are self sustainable despite the disadvantageous environment they have to operate in.

Absolutely. I think we all agree, there needs to be a complete overhaul. BUT, when I see articles quoting  Murray Baker, David Ellis, Tony Pike and especially Alan Jackson, I get very, very angry.  They are luckier than most in the industry as they have influence...and yet they couldn’t speak up or make a stand. As I said to Arrowfield on Friday, they’re all waiting for someone else to speak up and devise a plan.  Oh well, why would they want to speak up?  Life’s been good to these people now speaking up...if we need to pay a bill, just sell another horse.....
Alan Jackson...? Now says NZTR supports the reform?  P,ease correct me if I’m wrong but has he not been in a position where he could have provoked change?

Yep , it'll also send many of the horsemen and horsewomen and the real base of the game out of the industry the impact of that will be felt over the coming years, I know of several at our track who will be lost from the game forever. It's terribly disappointing to hear the lack of empathy for these people from all of the trainers that have been interviewed on trackside etc that aren't really impacted, too naive to realise this could happen to them and the impact it will have of them in the future.

Ironically many of the clubs that are doing well and have assets in land as well as in the bank has become the noose over their necks. This whole plan is flawed as one of the main keys to the success of this plan is the confiscation all all the assets of these proud community Racing clubs. Sounds like we are back in the 1800’s and the land wars.Im hoping all those intended for slaughter band together and shut the concept down . They have no right to change the law to pillage honest hardworking clubs.

I dont understand IF Avondale cant be sold off as it is a greenbelt why not sell Ellerslie AND Counties and make Avondale a state of the art facility, Auckland has the population if its done well to support a state of the art venue. Avondale everyone agrees is the best surface in the region why not work with what you can not with pie in the sky numbers that cant be achieved and will only lead to more tears later.JMO

Many of us have done that a decade ago and since. It falls on deaf ears and apart from the obvious in this report that most agree on, the rest is an unsubstantiated crock of shit and some important ingredients are completely missing. Very disappointing. I expected something a bit more robust from John.

What I don’t like is this Aussie wants to close down financial country clubs and strip them off their assets to prop up these chosen  clubs .See he wants to give Waipuk 11 meetings over two years as a volunteer club then give them them the middle finger and close them down .

Agree things need to change. But in his short period here he’s obviously not got the feel of the country. Why on earth would you close Wairoa and race 1 day further up the coast in Gisborne. If a country track is self sufficient and is an asset to the local community why would you close it down ?
