  1. "part of the problem is that 'the state' has used a prohibition approach, which has not worked...." a 'more of the carrot, less of the stick' approach to this issue given that prohibition/legislation usually has only a poor/average success rate resolving the problem? If so do you believe that there is still a place for regulation/enforcement? And what sort of non-regulatory measures would you envisage?
  2. He was born to ride. Watching him atop a pony from a tender age it was easy to see his natural balance and competitive nature. Couple that with a positive attitude and eventually the results were bound to show. Congrats. Buddy, you deserve the success. As for Wall Street - he is a serious racehorse!
  3. Considering the calibre of your first six contributions to this site you are in no position to criticise anyone for anything. Personally, I'd rather give 'The Pope' a ride on a horse than read your views in future. It is a clear 'no contest', in my opinion.
  4. I was just doing a little bit of 'homework' on a horse that a friend has recently purchased. Unlike her, I do understand how to read brands and about micro-chipping but only have limited information about the animal concerned. This horse will arrive at his new home tomorrow so we will soon be able to see his numerical brands. Up until now I have only seen a single picture, hence only having the vet/stud brand details. The current owner has already confirmed that he is not microchipped and as he is supposedly 7 or 8 year old that is probably the case. Once we have all of the brand details it should be relatively simple for me to find out the sort of information that the new owner is seeking via the Stud Book. Cheers
  5. Can anyone identify this one for me, please?
  6. but I thought Banjo was a grey pony? His mount today looked like a thoroughbred.
  7. that John Letts rode at Flemington today? I caught the tail-end of the TV interview where it was stated that the horse is 22 years old but missed its name. Presumably it is a former Flemington great?
  8. there is someone else (other than the connections of Monaco Consul) celebrating today's big win. No doubt Mr B G Lampp, who paid $9k for the full-sister as a yearling, is a very happy man tonight. Well chosen, Mr Lampp!
