i have lost all faith in the selection committee of the waikato grc who selected the field for thursdays angus wright . i know it is a invitation race and they have the right to select who they want but also common sense should apply that the best dogs with the best form should get a run . also it is a inter island challenge where 4 dogs from the south island are chosen and in this case only 2 dogs are travelling to cambridge,so that leaves 6 dogs from the north to be selected. my particular dog lochinvar brogue can only make the bench as no 10 with form from G1 races,WINNING ivitation & C5 races . lochinvar brogue form line over the last 12 starts (all in C5, G1 & invitation) reads. 1-1-1-41-1-4-1-4-1-4-1-2-4. this dog is a proven open class and can only make the bench as no 10. one rings up and complains they say "put your complaint in writing" this dog has won 8 out of its last 12 starts surely that speaks for its self no wonder our great sport is going backwards very quickly when we have amateurs like these "selectors" i am shattered!!! gary, it wont be the cost ,but all the increased hassels of administration and days in qurantine that will reduce imports. gary it will be proberly be more applicable to the importer who brings 1 or 2 dogs in at a time,

gary, i would reduce all races under 320m by 20% from 1 aug 2011. no one can discrimate against aussie/overseas dogs,people are free to import what ever dog they desire short/500m plus dog. anyhow gary i do not know if you are aware of the massive changes to importing a dog or not ? biosecurity (nz) recently (now closed) sought stakeholder feed back on. -import health standards -guidance document - risk management. the document contained major changes to importing . eg if your import arrives after 4.30pm it goes into quarantine to be vet checked at the importers cost. can stay they at the cost up to 72hours. also lots of other hassels which may stop importers bringing dogs in to the country.!! i am led to believe these changes will be effective as from 1 may 2011.
