Stables got a reaction from Dissident in Racing Board ignored warning on risks of expensive betting platform
From what I understand NZTR frequently and publicly questioned the rationale for the new TAB betting platform and the Deoitte report was referred to on several occassions

Stables reacted to Nukkledragga in GROW UP RITA AND NZ GOVERNMENT.
These suggestions are what got us here in the first place.Outsourcing for one , the number of tasks and services that have been subbed out to contractors like the running of tab agencies for instance only to then cut their income ( while upping their own) so that they had to step in as all frachisees abandoned the sinking ship.Race fields legislation is a quid pro quo we will probably pay as much for overseas races as we would ever gain from selling to them
At best we can hope it is relatively even both ways. The bookies are already here as you say and according to Ken Rutherford the promos and profit margins on bookies trading are a large part of what ails us currently.
Joining a world tote will not do anything for NZ just as we are currently investing into aussie pools because of comingling, how on earth could putting our( nz) money into someone elses pool provide any benefit for anyone other than whoever runs this " world pool" and at the same time making it more expensive in terms of takeout rates just like comingling does.

Gruff I would have thought you were too intelligent a man to be associated with 100 1 and his crazy theories. He believes the world is flat

You obviously realize being knowledgeable on racing improves your chances of winning. Off course you can get lucky and defy the odds. When John Allen was appointed it was an absurdity and insult to many highly competent working striving a lifetime to get into these positions. There was no track record or even the remotest suggestion he had racing at heart.
You should have made the call there and then but the posting I happen to come across you seemed to endorse the appointment. Not as much as Nerula who was all in. Then P4P who seemed intitially to be skeptical but perhaps John Allen's "chance" wander into one of those Viaduct establishments changed all that. To the point P4P wanted even more than $50M spent i.e. $100M. Perhaps John Allen listened.
How on earth could someone with no knowledge or experience in an industry become CEO still is baffling. It was always going to be a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe this guy also hadn't raced ninety but zero wasn't encouraging.

Stables reacted to wobbly in redundancy clauses
Are we boarding-up the shop window because we can't afford the redundancy payments at the office?
If so, can we please redirect the ill-advised AW track investment funds toward ensuring the staff cuts are proportional?

We are now using the exact same script with the A/W tracks , too few making the decisions with very little input from industry participants . The main point for me is that NZ racing isn't big enough for 3 A/W's , circa $39mil for 3 tracks is money that could be spent in a much more sustainable way , that is before factoring maintenance costs . These will become bigger white elephants for NZ racing than the FOB debacle . In 10 years i believe they will either be sitting redundant because of a lack funds to repair or upgrade , or because of a lack of use due to participants having lost faith in them .
Either way they along with the FOB will become massive millstones around our necks , so much so racing might not be able to recover .
They need to go out to their wider base of racing participants and ask for feed back and find out if there is genuine support from all sectors in regards the necessity for these tracks , and i don't mean just big name trainers/owners/administrators based around where these facilities will be .

Stables reacted to Cyril Rioli in TAB costs
A lot probably can’t, need to somehow restructure the industry to concentrate on older horses that can race year after year. They may not cover all their costs but they’ll get a bit back. Way too many owners are being burnt playing the yearling game

I just don't like the way he talks about his preferences in a race, not informative and his commentating style is slow and unresponsive

Stables got a reaction from GOM in Can you believe this ***** ??
The election is only 4 months away, not enough time for National to re-create itself with a new leader. Better to stick with Simon, loose the election, then reconstuct with a new leader who has a bit of charisma

The fact that WP is going back to court says it all. As for Bridges. Ask yourself (honestly), does he come across as PM material? The Leader of a Nation? Someone you could depend on in a crisis? Someone with a broad grasp of the issues and interests of a Nation? The common touch? I doubt he’d win fastest finger on “Millionaire Hot Seat”!
