    Oh Dear,
Just try and keep up.Latest NZRB board,CEO and CFO are gonnnnne. Have been for quite some time. After spending all the reserves smashing the balance sheet Winnie basically got rid of the lot of them and brought in a new board and executive chair. They have set about taking the axe to costs to keep the TAB going albeit with a little bit of help recently from Government. How you could say
You clearly have no idea whats been going on in the last 6 months and to suggest that people not betting will help says your in need of help.
Are you from Marlborough by chance?

I have known many of the Stipes for years. They started out as very enthusiastic harness racing people and many of them obtained licences to drive. They subsequently got jobs as stipes and they didn't seem to have lost their enthusiasm for Harness Racing. In the last 3 years or so, something has changed and the RIU attitude changed to a them and us mentality, The stipes appear to have lost their respect for the the trainers and drivers and an attitude of regarding everybody employed in stables and as drivers as corrupt crept in. The establishmen of the RIU as a seperate organisation under their own control has not worked . The RIU must be closed down and should revert to each code employing their own stipendiary stwards, with the Chief Stipe reporting to the board of each of  their respective codes

I wouldn't worry too much Tasman Man, I don't think the money that those posers put on the TAB would add much to the turnover

    Right
Riccarton will have its AWT sooner than later.
It will greatly enhance local training and trials, no need for Rangiora or Motukarara they will be gone. Ashburton will be the secondary track in Canterbury, unfortunately Timaru (Phar Lap) has a very questionable future. I don't necessarily agree with this.
More race days will be allocated to Riccarton as other venues are shut down. As a local based trainer I have always been very open in my support of an AWT at Riccarton, I have also been open in my criticism of Riccarton when softish tracks are produced. An AWT will provide a more consistent surface for both racing and training. It will not suit all horses and the grass track, course proper, will always be there for our summer racing. I have no doubt Riccarton is the best firm track in NZ and when produced in this state we have very good racing, when presented like it was during the middle day of last Cup Meeting it is not.
From a local trainers perspective and on behalf of the owners we train for I can see considerable savings in transport costs with more race days at Riccarton and regular trial days. Riccarton has room to develop more stabling facilities and an increase in training numbers will assist with covering costs of maintenance etc. I'm no course manager but it must be easier to harrow, grade or whatever an AWT track than patching and growing grass tracks as they do now when we get rain and the plough is not able to be used, our grass training tracks do get plenty of use.

Des was always the ultimate company man , never asked the hard questions . As disappointed as he is still not really stepping on his old bosses toes . It's because of people in the industry such as Des who have a voice and a profile but never stood up and questioned what was going on that racing has continued it's downward spiral . I am not singling Des out and no agenda against Des , just trying to point out that if more people who have a voice within racing had spoke out more and often maybe the situation might not be so dire .

I'm sure it would be. You say TAB costs would be minimal for racing at say Forbury Park, that in fact is not true. Costs can only be minimised if the number of tracks are minimised

    How about this ...
Please stop saying you "researched it."
You didn't research anything and its highly probable that you dont even know how to do so.
Did you compile a literature review and write abstracts on each article? Or better yet, did you collect a random sample of sources and perform independent probability statistics on the reported results? No?
Did you at least take each article, one by one and look into the source ( that would be the author, publisher and funder), then critique the writing for logical fallacies, cognitive distortions and plain inaccuracies.
Did you ask yourself why this source might publish these particular results? Did you follow the trail of references and apply the same source of scrutiny to them?
No? Then you didn't fucking research anything. You read or watched a video, most likely with little to no objectivity. You came across something in your algorithm manipulated feed, something that jived with your implicit biases and served your confirmation bias, and subconsciously applied your emotional filters and called it proof.

During the “blue magic” enquiry a good man lost his life
One of the individuals involved here said, in his speech, at the HRNZ awards, that he was contemplating or had contemplated suicide because of this inquiry
I guess that’s the equation the Police and RIU have to weigh up
How much evidence should they fabricate ?
How many new fictitious charges should they lay ?
How much financial pressure should they apply ?
How many deaths or destroyed careers, decimated families, do they want ? What’s their “bag limit” ?

I’m guessing they don’t think like me, but if they did they’d be having sleepless nights right now because based on the evidence I’ve seen they’re destroying lives and careers for no good reason

No, double jeopardy doesn't apply to what effectively is a civil matter when charges are brought by thr RIU. I would think, however if they had any sense of fairness and justice they would let the whole sorry saga just fade away

Does this forum really need these constant illogical political barbs.
This "socialist government" just what does that mean. Is it good or bad? I'm sure it makes some people feel good spouting of but you wonder at their mentality.
The classic will probably be p4p reversing his anti Winston Peters rhetoric now that National may be looking at partnering with NZ First. There I go ...... I won't get into politics again.

Mediaworks went downhill with Clark Gayford & his cronies due to his ties to Ardern.
Owners of Mediaworks should have dealt to that as have legal obligations to provide balanced journalism, Kindy & Facebook stories are not investigative journalism.

I gained my love of racing sitting on my grandfathers knee listening to the wireless and you obviously do not know what constitutes a "Socialist" government. This government has also been good to the industry. Stop with the pro National rhetoric and check the facts please.

These 7k races should have a minimum winning stake of $4k.   It’s ridiculous the winner getting under 4K and then a points penalty,  while the also rans  get $150 each

Stables reacted to lamour in Standard Stake Distribution
Distribution of stakes had been standardised 55% 15.5% 8% 4.5% 3%  others 2% each.    In a $7,500 dollar race running last will get you $150.   As an owner,  if my horse runs down the track I couldn’t care less if my horse wins $100 or $150.   It is good though to get the drivers fee paid.    With these smaller stakes I feel more money should be going to the winner & place getters.  2% is too much for running last.

You have been very critical of track closures .......if you gather the facts re costs to the industry ,especially the TAB , the picture becomes clearer.
Several clubs have been very prudent and built up nice nesteggs/cash reserves over the years.
Poverty Bay ,it appears , has some $2 million in cash and Investments .WOW !
Another point of interest is IMO.....a lot of clubs are run by Volunteers and some have strong ties with their communities but this could be debated too ,and they are constantly looking for help from TAB , Government funds and other grants etc just to maintain minimum basic standards in H&S etc.
And the money they get from grants is taking away from other desperate clubs and organisations e.g. kids grassroots sport ,who are desperate too for funding.
IMO its hard to justify the total overall cost for meetings that have just a few meetings a year.
