Well they had agreed to do just that in 2020 so not sure what occured that left them in cold again .  They had planned to sell  by 2025 ? , join  up as a three club  group  while still retaining  their own identity, and race at Ellerslie.    

Far to much pigheadedness and self interest on the AJC committee behalf for them to join ATR. 

They should cash up and join Auckland Racing with sufficient seats on the Board to have input and impact, but history says that very unlikely to happen.

Anyway the whole Trackside/Te Akau personnel clique is pretty incestuous (figuratively only I hope) and needs to be diluted in the coverage and  have a more professional, broader coverage protocol of racing on Trackside.  Go and look for some human interest stories Sweeney, beyond Te Akau and Cambridge Stud! ( Maybe a DEEP dive into all the major winners--who bred them, what they sold for,  their physical attributes or lack of, trainer insights into their idiosyncrasies etc etc) Just saying.

Nothing will change, and therefore not a single dollar more should be spent ,while the present administration (there's a misnomer)  is in place.Have already wasted a fortune on in-fighting and consultants proposing grandiose projects while all the time exhibiting a "siege mentality" from reason.

Sorry to hear Paul passed away overnight. I didn't know Paul well but he was great support during my time as President of South Canterbury racing. Condolences to his family.

Going back to the original post , didn't the met office say a couple of months ago that it was going to be hot and dry summer ?

By the way I totally agree , I never wanted kids so never had any , one of my greatest pleasures in life is winding family and friends kids up and walking away . A vastly overrated pastime .
