Baz (NZ) reacted to Ohokaman in Orchestral (nz)
An even better win by Mark Twain at Flemington. Not many stayers have a turn of foot like that.

A very good win today by Orchestral and James. Congrats. I would love to know what was said by JMac to Nash on the line.

Also, hope Michael Dee is in the saddle on the first Tuesday in November!! Mark Twain hopefully get a nice lightweight in the Cup, and Michael Dee is naturally a lightweight rider!!

They've both had fewer than 40 runners, they've both had Gr. 1 winners. Any judgement right now is premature.

Get what your saying Idolmite , but I love a front runner , I love it when a horse says if your good enough catch me . Not a sit and sprint but like PoJ on Saturday , she just says I'm going all out if you can match me go for it and good luck , nothing better .

Will be interesting what the stats say [since reportedly data doesn't lie ] with a much greater number of races as a sample, say after 12 months.
While maybe the data doesn't lie, people that work with numbers can make those numbers say anything they want them too. Data can be manipulated and those releasing the data can choose what to release and what not to release. Do the stats look a lot better when you use 600 metres as the base point, as opposed to say 450 metres or 700 metres? Who knows.
To the naked eye without even giving it too much thought [I'm a very small and extremely casual punter - I never watch an entire meeting - lying on the couch and often nodding off 🤣 ] or bothering to watch any replays, the first meeting looked like a leader's bias and improving slightly at more recent meetings. The stats appear to back that up, but we're only talking 40 races total, even less with the split to get the "improving data". It would be nice to see the three sets of figures they are using at 33.33333333333% each. Unless they're doing a Pride of Jenni or Kotare Chief, I much prefer watching races with horses running on from midfield or beyond. That's nothing to do with punting.. l just find it more spectacular and interesting to watch than follow the leader stuff. Like Kiwi in the Melbourne Cup.

Baz (NZ) got a reaction from gubellini in Entain on the charge……?
All NZ based offshore Punters need to now get behind Entain and support them. Close Bet365 accounts and support NZ Racing !

Two points:
1] When Scooby said: Great planning before a Group 1 2400m race...they really don't have a clue, I don't think that he was having a go at you.
2] Did you accidentally type your last sentence the wrong way around? In other words with the Caps lock on, because you started the sentence with a small i?
Or maybe you have caught it from Pogo. n0?

Interesting these days, the league player got banned for 8 games for a racial comment, crickey what next, whatever happened to the sticks n stones rhyme, ok not PC, but heck what's the world coming to, I got called a racist one day, my reply, that can't be true, I've got a colour TV.

This penalising for abusive language is some new age bullshit too. If the job was done properly everyone on track would be gentlemen.

Swoopa, keep your eyes on the Levin jumpouts. They are an important betting guide in the CD.

Alf, for what it's worth I'll give you my appraisal of the day Saturday, the 9th, which also mirrors Derby Day.
For many years I have been a strident critic of the previous ARC for its "lazy" efforts in maximising a fantastic facility right in the middle of Auckland. Been an attendee for over 50 years (misspent youth!) and as a member I sought an audience with Weaver/Castles some years ago to offer voluntary services to clean up bird shit and other rubbish in the Members Stand which had become the alternate "Spookers". My offer was declined due to the usual Health and Safety BS. Things are gradually improving in that Stand but there is a long way to go for regular Members.
As for Cup day. I found the overall experience greatly improved and don't share your opinion on the crowd size. It took a little while to build up but by race 5 I meandered around where I had ready access , including the Public Stand where I beheld a large congregation of young people ( no obvious drunkedness, beautifully presented young ladies who were also at the tote betting, and minimal confronting security presence). Don't know official numbers but seemed more than adequate.
Music on the day was more mellow than the usual "rap" beats which was appreciated and access to our horses in the new stabling area is perfect, without compromising safety.
As for the racing--like many I'm disappointed with some of the field sizes which often translates to uncompetitive racing patterns and particularly leader bias, but that's up to the jockeys.
I'm looking forward to more regular attendance which has waned over recent years. Might have to breed a few more.

Good point, hard to see the 2 favs beaten, but good luck to the 2 Kiwis, and good on them for having a crack 😊

Nice to see connections take Vinnie and Craig along for the ride. Probably NZs most in form jockeys.
If Pride of Jenni bowls along as she does, and Mr B is tasked with leading the chase, we could see some swoopers late.
Wouldnt be brave enough to put my hard earned on anything to beat the two faves though.
