My family hadn't seen that much of Bob in the past years but that pic is how I always see him in my head when I think of him, that mop of hair, which Toby also inherited.  Such a friendly and welcoming guy and at race meetings he would always, without fail, wave out and come over and say g'day and shake my Dad's hand and they'd have a great catch up and a laugh.  A real goodin.

    Where's Miss Jools on this?
It's surprising to me how often Marketing departments and sign writers screw things up.

One vet scratches the horse because he thinks it's 2/5 lame. The trainer then gets into an "animated discussion" with another vet, then another. One or both of them feel threatened by the trainer pointing at his horse, speaking loudly, and maybe flapping his arms too much. The horse then comes out six days later and wins at Canterbury.

Terrible news. One of only two Racecafers I've ever met at the races.
Condolences to his family, many of whom are in the public eye.

Sad news about a top guy who did his bit and more for the racing game.
He was a busy contributor on here and always had time for a chat away from the keyboard.
    RIP Gary.

If he genuinely feels this is the right thing for him then it's the right decision .
Obviously there were things going on in the background that didn't help and his heart wasn't in it at that time .
I have never met anybody who hasn't done a turn around on something they were adamant they weren't doing again .
Good luck to him , best in NZ at his best .
Selfishly I hope he gets back on my big boy straight away .

I'd just love to see Kon Tiki run a competitive race in the Coronation, she's a wonderful looking filly and will go on I think given her breeding but she is so game.
