  1. Agreed, talking up and tipping a $1.50 Fav as his weekend top bet is adding nothing. Nice knowledgeable bloke, but from a punting angle is well short of the mark.
  2. The worrying thing is there are numerous locations across the country far worse. We have moved into a cafe society and many of these clubs are stuck in 1990s NZ & they wonder why patrons stay home. Attending on course today is far more than just the racing, people want to be entertained and that’s with food choice also, esp on premier days. Mid week a cold pie and soogy chips are passable, but group1 racing Saturdays, no way.
  3. Yes, the real annoying thing is this is from a caterer whom is known for quality delivery, so something doesn't smell right here.
  4. The trouble is that food isn't seen at Te Rapa. Just hit a new low when even pies are not warm, they were stone cold. & really in a members area, Pies Sausage Rolls & Hot Dogs in a bag covered in sauce, a few boring sandwiches, stale slices & wedges buried in cheese. that's the options. In Aus you would get slaughtered if you served that option up in your members.
  5. Villa Maria, not too bad. Who runs a bar & doesn't have Chardy or Sav Blanc in stock.
  6. Monday 13th February Dear Waikato Racing Club Member, We have had a number of comments recently both verbal and in email form around less than acceptable food and beverage offerings in the Kentucky Lounge. We take this very seriously and have been working with Kerr & Ladbrook to try and improve the standards. The purpose of this email is to ask for your feedback as to how we might improve the offering and level of service. Is there a type of food not being served that you feel could work well? Do you think there is a better way of serving the food? What beverage options would you like to see made available? Please click on the button below to provide us with your feedback or suggestions. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated as we work with Kerr & Ladbrook to raise the standard of both the offering and service. Best regards Andrew (Butch) Castles CEO - Waikato Racing Club
  7. Good response from Butch. Hi Barry Thanks for your feedback below. It is disappointing that the standards have dropped further in the Kentucky Lounge as I have been working with Kerr & Ladbrook to address their food options and service to Members. I can assure you I take this feedback very seriously and have arranged to meet with the caterers this afternoon to try and understand why these issues are happening. I agree the racing was fantastic Saturday but for you to have to wait so long for a coffee and for there to be no Chardonnay at the start of the day is completely unacceptable! I have asked Ashleigh to pull together an email to members asking for their suggestions on how we could improve the service and offerings in the Kentucky Lounge- this should be out in the next couple of days. Best regards Andrew (Butch) Castles CEO - Waikato Racing Club 07 849 8804 | 021 384 289 andrew@teraparacing.co.nz
  8. Here is an email I send at 8am this morning after being completely f--ked off with how appalling it is. Firstly congratulations on a fantastic race day, entertaining races & a great crowd present. Unfortunately the great day was spoilt by the offerings in the members lounge, what was served was not befitting of such a day. I have been a member for over 10yrs & almost without fail attend every meeting, gradually over the last 12 months the offerings, service & general standard in the members has degraded to what was a new low yesterday. The offerings in the members is poor & the service is slow to hopeless at times, yesterday we ordered pies & savories (as there was virtually nothing else anyway) & they were cold, the slices were ordered were small and made 3 or more days ago. The bar opened at 11:45am & we ordered our first drinks to be told they had no Chardonnay & needed to go away and get it, really?. They had the entire morning to check stocks & get organized & don't have one of the most ordered drinks. We ordered coffee's late in the day & it took almost 2 races for us to see them, to the point where we had forgotten we had ordered. The absolute bizarre thing is that the public on level 1 enjoy a better selection & service, we ended up dispatching someone to go down there & get muffins/slices for us. This feeling is quite widespread amongst members from what I have heard, a smart thing would be to survey members to troubleshoot & get suggested improvements. Regards Barry
  9. The Public area is always empty mate, its a dive thats why, the birdshit is a foot deep.
  10. We’re you there Bloke? I was and the crowd was of a similar size to New Yrs day, only cup day has had a larger crowd.
  11. Yep, NZ Racing not so bad after all. We need to stop comparing ourselves with cities of 5 mill people and get real and look at Werribee and the Gold Cosst, both misfit venues today.
  12. The word I heard from the track was that it was out of fuel.
  13. Have a look at Werribee Race 1. That probably makes us look very professional.

  15. It’s is real data, it’s page 9 of the 2021 Govt report into GRNZ.
  16. Review into Greyhound Racing in New Zealand 2021 Page 9 60. Away from the racetrack, the role of euthanasia is unclear. GRNZ’s own data from 2017 to date gives the following reasons and information for euthanasia that does not occur at the racetrack: • Medical Euthanasia – aggression: 57 deaths; • Medical Euthanasia – illness: 119 deaths; • Medical Euthanasia – accident/injury: 285 deaths; and • Non-Medical (No reason given): 462 deaths. 61. The number of greyhounds euthanised has reduced significantly over the last four years, from an annual total of 348 down to 103 in the current year to date (7 months). However, the inability to justify euthanasia in 462 instances in four years was an issue raised many times by submitters monitoring the industry. ‘No reason given’ for euthanasia is the most common reason by a significant margin. This raised concern regarding the detail in which information is kept, and in some cases, it was submitted that this suggested GRNZ was intentionally obscuring the data
  17. The statements above remind me of died with or from Covid, the wording makes a massive difference to the numbers. There are hundreds of unexplained Greyhound deaths yearly supplied by GRNZ. If the tracking of Greys worked they wouldn’t be unexplained.
  18. I prefer the dogs on TV to the ones that are walked around my neighbourhood and are allowed to shit all over the place. Its a badge on honour to carry around a plastic bag of dog shit.
  19. The Moonee Valley track is near the end of its life, it’s getting rebuilt in 2024.
  20. Yes, the track is being seeded, not ready turf.
  21. Shame there will be no racing in 2023, mid 2024 we might see something.. Its so far behind schedule, that 2023 is history.
  22. You represent 5% of NZ TAB punters then. Only need to see how many on here comment about never opening an account overseas to confirm many on this site don't seem to worry about takeouts or price offered for a runner etc.
  23. I disagree investigator plain and simple JB has no idea hes being ripped off, in fact JB has no idea that these so called Elites are propping up the pools for him. JB thinks if hes lucky he will scoop the pool if his picks are good enough. JB has no idea these Elites even exist.
  24. That is over the long term of course, there are plenty of times where they would get partial collects & lose significantly on the race. The point is without them JB doesn't even get the option as the investment from JB into those exotics pools are so small that they wouldn't be feasible. Regardless, JB doesn't care about takeouts etc, he is only interested in pool size & the chance of a massive return for a tiny outlay as is evidenced when pools jackpot to the next race & the flood of money seen. The reality is that JB is likely to get an even smaller collect.
