Nerula got a reaction from We're Doomed in Taking the money
The origin of this thread is I was in a disussion with @Dopey on the Breeding thread and we talked about mutual separate interests in Hello Youmzains stock.
I hadn't posted anyting for months due to health and thought I should make a comtribuion. (If we dont do that from time to time theres just blank pages or somebody talking to themselves to look at).
I put up this thread on wrong page Breeding then asked Admin to shift it over to here. They kindly did so.
The idea of this thread was not to blow my "trumpet" but to make a contribution and start a discussion.
Chicken is on the money as he reads the Breeding page and no doubt finds it really interesting like me.
As to the 'Tart she has got good wheels and head. More development to come! Cheers All! Neil M

Punch. I am not well enough to argue the finer points. There is such a thing as chemo brain i hear..
But the offer was 800k. Maybe we live in a different world and cash is very secondary to health for me.
We buy experiences in our life and my runway is likely shorter than yours.
i ve punted all my adult life playing the odds and wont stop now.
This discussion is interesting in that all sorts of scenarios are possible. depending on the individuals involved and their circumstances. Also a filly may have residual value where as a gelding becomes a giveaway.

Nerula got a reaction from Hall in Taking the money
On a recent thread was mention of an offer for Well Written. Our group gat an offer from Melbounne prior to that, the Manager polled us and we turned it down.
My rationale follows
Offer my share - 100k
Less trainer gets 10k
Cost to buy + extras 33k
1 and 1/2 year training cost to me 1 3k
Stakes won 3k
total 103k
less costs 46k
----
Nett to me 57k
So that would buy me less than 2 horses of the origanal yearling value. But the chaces of getting a good replacement/s is say 10%.
So in my view what is critical is the costs/offer ration needs to be very high or you wish to exit the game.
Hope that make sense to you. But what I see is the cunning prospective buyer buying a horse after a lot of risk of loss is removed

Nerula got a reaction from Dopey in Hello Youzain's 'friends' will find this interesting...........
Thanks D. Gave us 5 rating points to get us into a big dance at Riccarton November. Also a deposit for the Noms and Accepts which is needed 10k approx. Better that than to 'spec it

Sorry D late to respond but I've been dealing with health issues. Not fun!
I thought Billy out rode us but trainer said our girl trained up for longer races and when winner kicked she was flat footed. We go on to a 1400 then the Guineas I understand.
Vey firmly believe the HY will be Autumn horses though

Nerula reacted to stodge in News from the North(ern) Hemisphere
Thanks for the feedback, always appreciated.
Just to help out with the Juddmonte International which is being run this afternoon for us (early Thursday morning for you and hopefully available on Trackside), the morning favourite is OMBUDSMAN (Night of Thunder), second in is DELACROIX (a rare Dubawi for Coolmore) and we have the Japanese raider DANON DECILE (Epiphaneia, almost unknown over here but stands in Japan for 12 million yen (or nearly £60,000 or NZD 130,000)).
I'll do what I can - you may start to see some patterns as the powerhouses tend to favour certain stallions.
To help out, the current standings of stallions by prize money won in Britain and Ireland:
1. NIGHT OF THUNDER £3,666,789
2. WOOTTON BASSETT £3,589,661
3. DUBAWI £2,924,670
4. FRANKEL £2,910,023

Legs TROF is certainly aware of trends.
I think shifting to Cambridge may have caused a rise in employment execs. But where are TR heading now that there is more honey in the honey jar?
What concerns is the extra salaries brought about by seemingly corporate pursuits like "feel goods" and titles that spawn departments - that produce reports and meetings.
