I haven’t yet found the rule about replacing like with like - but my recent experience suggests this is the way it’s being interpreted by stripes. Anyone able to clarify?

Yes that’s the rule, but I have seen once where the trainer didn’t want either of the available seniors, and they let it go because the trainer threatened to scratch the horse otherwise.
