  1. Teletubby, must confess i did not realise there were so many until I saw the article, knew there were a few but not that many. They have sprung up all over the place and the council has no power to stop them, the liquor licencing people just approve them willy nilly according to their own rules. The problem seems to be that persons of age buy for the young ones and then go out and supply it to them, have seen this from the local hairdressers on the corner of Broadway and Oshannessey street, he has something like 7 liquor outlets withing spitting distance of his shop, and a new one approved around the corner going in on Broadway. As to your second question ,being the purified gentleman that I am !! have not counted them but have seen about three or four signs along the Takanini straight so there are some.I think you will find a few in Manukau City. Cheers-Archie
  2. Aw shucks, can only but try !! Cheers -Archie
  3. Teletubby, they can have everything of mine except my eyes, I want to see that they do things properly !!! Cheers-Archie
  4. Teletubby, have to take you to task old chap . As you know I live in papakura and frankly I know Callum Penrose(the mayor) and have for some time, and believe it or not, they have NO SAY in the granting of liquor licences in their own town !! As long as the applicant meets the criteria set down by the Liquor Licencing Trust they are granted a licence to sell liquor, and that includes the supermarkets as well.I know the council has opposed several being granted and has literally been told to shut up by the liquor licencing trust responsible for granting the licences. As a person also said in the same programme tonight, the trust does not have to take into account the number already there or the sighting of the shop etc, they have their own criteria to judge whether to give a licence or not- stupid eh !! I also notice that the local member of parliament is very conspicious by her silence over all this, perhaps the tv programme may goad her into doing something but I will not hold my breath. That teletubby is the other side of the argument and believe you me, I give the council "hell" when I think they deserve it but this time it was out of their hands, and always has been hence the number of licences granted by the liquor licencing people.Next Papakura will be known as the "slurp slurp glug glug" town of the new super city !!! Cheers -Archie
  5. Read somewhere that the attendance was down on last year and reason given was that the authorities would not let patrons take their own drinks onto the course, had to buy those already there, obviously to do with sponsors arrangements etc. Apparently it also cut down on the problems of crowd behaviour according to what I read. Cheers-Archie
  6. Bradez, I see you are talking through that hole in your A**e again. Yes i quit and will look again when it is all over as to whether I take part again. I was around horses before you were a bloody twinkle in anyones eyes !! and if the horse was that bloody bad, why did you claim it ?? tried to flog him along with a good punt and then got rid of him again, sign of a good caring owner dont you think. Have been away on holiday so could not answer sooner - sorry about that, and you were starting to sound like Rodney Hide. Cheers and have a good night Archie
  7. Must be getting confused with "spell check" - since microsoft came on the scene years ago thats all they worry about these days, and thats not always successful either. Cheers-Archie
  8. Murray, what you say is basically what i was also told by the syndicate member as well. Cheers-Archie
  9. Bradez, was talking to oneof the syndicate members the other day, $2 million was mentioned as the sale price etc, with some strings attached as well. Cheers-Archie
  10. As well as this one, I see they are having trouble filling the stadium in Japan for this extra Bledisloe cup game between Australia and New Zealand, have only sold half the seats they thought they would and talk of giving the other half away for free to make it look as though there is more interest in the game in Japan than they are making out.Apparently like most games, charging too much for the tickets which is what i suspect will happen in the RWC here in 2011 as the IRB control what will be charged, not the NZ Organisors.Even flying out Peter Snell, who won two gold medals at the Tokyo olympics, for moral support for the All Blacks. Cheers-Archie
  11. Richyrich, most probably cost a site less than the $40 million they have budgeted for the other one as well.I think they are pushing s**t uphill with a fork if they think they are going to recover that sort of money from the world cup - I have heard their predictions but have not seen any country yet make a profit out of it, perhaps maybe only the IRB. Cheers-Archie
  12. majbarnett. also looked good on the national tv news tonight as well. When you think of it, perhaps that was better than careering back down the track into the field still racing but as you elude to,does not look good. They also intereviewed Blair Orange about it as well. Cheers-Archie
  13. Well done Southland on taking the shield off Canterbury tonight, 9 points to 3. You have also made it harder for the Aucklanders to make the top four. Well done on a good gutsy game. Cheers- Archie
  14. What was the date for the NZ Cup again ? Christ we have some gullible people around do we not. Cheers-Archie
  15. As at 5.15pm HRNZ web site still down. Cheers-Archie
  16. Heard a rumour that he had two stitches put in his bottom lip, where he trod on it throwing his tantrum. Cheers -Archie
  17. In my opinion the man is an idiot and always will be.This is the same mayor who when out running and asked a question by a ratepayer who saw him going past, did a "down trou" and carried on. Made quite a story in the newspapers at the time but still keeps getting elected as the mayor, dontknow why. His answers do not surprise me in the least. Cheers-Archie
  18. Most probably find Bradez already has a book going !! - Must be in the running for being the joke of the year this so called enquiry. Cheers -Archie
  19. Macduff, get off the bloody grass !! They are nothing but a pack of bloody vandals this Greenpeace lot.Have you EVER heard them admit they just could be wrong about some things -NEVER. As i have said before, and as LLoyd has also said, its not their message they preach but the way they go about it. Finally saw their work at the New Plymouth port and that is just vandalism, no ifs andno buts and no, the end does not justify the means, not in my book. Dont particulary like what some of the dairy giants do either but they dont go around vandalising peoples property but then if you are one of the vandals you will most probably have a different view to me naturally. Cheers and have a good night. Archie
  20. Lloyd, no comment. I think you know my thoughts on this lot. Cheers-Archie
