  1. And his mother is still alive in the paddock at Pukekohe(Colleen's Choice),must be knocking 29 or so now.Still gallops up anddown the fence line as well. Can still remember him being born in the front paddock at Garry Hacketts property as it was then(now I think it is Paulette and Bill Screens property). Cheers to all Archie
  2. From Stewards report Friday 3 August-Auckland Race 5. Trainer K. Smith advised that PERIGO would be retired from racing. MOMENT OF TRUTH had a tendency to lug inwards and trot roughly rounding the home bend. No horses were claimed from this event. Looks like the old chap is going to get his rest -good luck to him. Cheers Archie

  7. John, being the "big punter" that I am,when they followed the aussies and started this NTD for less than eight runners, I gave up betting, might as well bet on the greyhounds, at least still three chances!! Cheers Archie
  8. Of course people are going to use BP and Z(ex shell) as they have this thing going with supermarkets, discounted petrol as long as you spend "X" amount of dollars on groceries etc etc, you have all seen it,thats why the queues are longer at those two stations than the others.Pak N Save stations are only pusedo BP stations as well, same as GAS stations. Cheers Archie
  9. I see John Kirwan only ever coached as an assistant in New Zealand in 2001,then went off to Italy and Japan. His overall record is only 55.0% suc cess rate so will be interesting to see how he goes. Mind you having old team mates on the selection panel could have helped!! and dont anyone tell me it does not help. The die has been cast so now lets see what happens, and I hear he is looking for three assistants to help him. Cheers Archie
  10. It should also follow then that sign language should also be used, it also is an official language. Cheers Archie
  11. Gruff, noticed that too, most probably the only photo of a harness person they had on file, thought they would have proof read it before puting it to air wouldnt you think.Dont let a wrong photo get in the way of a good story !!! Cheers Archie
  12. Lloyd, could not agree more. Hope he makes a complete recovery. Cheers Archie
  13. Just had a quick look at the NZ Herald website and they report Frank is in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital According to that article, his horse, the favourite Awesome Desire was tightened up and fell, and Frank was hit from behind when he went down.Cant tell you anymore than that. Fingers crossed and hope he comes out of it OK Cheers Archie
  14. Mardy, about two hundredmetres after the start therewas a crash and Frank Cooney was motionless on the trackand another driver went over the top of him.He was taken to Auckland Hospital and they are awaiting some news of his condition but did not look good. They abandoned the race as they could not shift him until the ambulance got out there to take him away. Cheers Archie
  15. Rooboy,I sat on two juries years ago in Otahuhu and then each side was allowed five "challenges" to the jury selection, thats why they empanel so many in the first place.Looking at the Guy case, firstly they exercised the right of the accused remaining silent which is fair enough, and in my opinion they have not looked close enough to home, thats my opinion, and gut feeling having sat through trials before.Dont know how many challenges each side is allowed now. Cheers Archie
  16. Wonder if any linkage to Native Master ? Cheers Archie

    Robbie Deans

Arent you forgetting something, its not the coach out on the field playing and if the players dont follow the plan, how the hell can they win? I know they have quite a few ex kiwis giving them a hand but thought the aussies knew more about rugby than they are showing!! Still its easier to blame the coach than admit the aussies are no good at the game(tic)!! Cheers Archie
