  1. That article was very disturbing. It shows why we need our no tolerance policy on drugs of any sort in New Zealand.
  2. More mares would die foaling on a percentage basis, than what would be put down from jumps racing, does SAFE suggest we don't get mares infoal. The reality is that when you have livestock of any kind you have dead stock.
  3. I think it worked, it accepted my password, time will tell.
  4. I have four mares booked one to Pins or OReilly one to Savabeel one to Towkay and one to Nadeem. I disagree with you about the Australian Stallions or the price of NZ stallions. If OReilly, Pins, Pentire, Savabeel stood in Australia none of them would probably be less than $70000. Thorn Park, & Keeper, would probably be in the $35000/$40000 range. With all the variables of getting a yearling to the sales(being correct, injuries etc) to me alot of the Australian stallions are over priced and you run a huge risk of losing alot of money. The exchange rate always has to be considered.
  5. Wahid was second in dresssage but I think he dropped a couple of rails in the showjumping, I think he was clear in cross country but not quite sure. His owners the Stanley's went to watch but hard to get details as this is a whole new side of equestrian sport for them. Wahid was competing at a low key day at Maitangi
  6. $2000 a month is very reasonable, as a kitty needs to be built so you are not having to go back and ask for more money. Nek Mintute at $1200/1300 a month I would question wether my horse is being feed and looked after properly, because at that price shortcuts are probably being taken
  7. Steve Davis is the best oncourse presenter as he entertains as well as informs. As an auctioneer as a vendor you want him selling your horse because he works to get you the best money possible and as a buyer you want him no where near the gavel as you pay more.
  8. If Iam on the course I put two lots of $10 ew on my horse. One ticket for the jockey and one for the strapper, but only give them the ticket if the horse wins.
  9. Lisa Cropp has been punished, she didn't hurt anyone other than herself. It looks like she is trying to get her life and career back on track. That should be the end of it, the only way it damages NZ racing is when idiots like you won't leave her alone and keep bringing it up. You have obviously lead a mistake free life, because you haven't developed the ability to forgive and forget.
  10. Don has touched on a good point in regards to sponsors. Anyone involved with a racing club knows how hard it is to get sponsors. If you have a Black type race to offer sponsors they are easier to sell. So within 5 years I predict if this system comes in their will only be half of the black type races their are now in NZ. Leggy obviosly has no finacial input into the NZ industry, if he did he would see that this is a seriously bad idea.
  11. Leggy you obviously don't race fillies or breed horses for sale. If you did you would care about the fact that in time the best they could race for in New Zealand would be Group 3 and Listed Races because that is the reality of what this system will do, and as for NZTR doing the right thing their track record isn't that good so far.
  12. I totally agree with Lloyd. The buyers at the sales value our Group racing with their wallets. So even with our Group one's considered a joke by some, they still sell horses. Those same horses go on to win many Group one's once trained in Australia or elsewhere. I think all countries should be self monitoring and the buyers will decide for themselves. If New Zealand bred horses didn't perform oversea's they wouldn't sell as well as they do.
  13. Saturday the 24th was a day that no other club wanted so Taranaki Thoroughbred Racing took it. They did $123000 oncourse and $1.4 off couse so the club is very happy with their industry day.
  14. It would be a real blow to the industry to lose trackside radio. I like alot of people that due to work spend alot of time on the road and have all the trackside radio channels throughout the North Island tuned in. In Taranaki we are on an FM channel. Also if you are out of the country you can ring radio trackside to listen to a race
  15. You have to spend money to make money The adverts on trackside for summer racing and other carnivals, should be on prime time TV trying to get the general public interested in a day at the races. Otherwise the only time racing ends up on prime time tv is negative stories on the news. If NZTR has a marketing department they should be sacked as they are pathetic.
