As claimers didnt take off in Nz perhaps another separation from the present set up used extensively in USA to keep horses racing.... is conditions such as "FOR UP TO 4 WIN HORSES THAT HAVE NOT WON MORE THAN $3000 LAST 5 STARTS." the wins and dollars won can change but advantage is trainers could find race with other horses in a struggling category.works well in uSA.(maybe even 1/2 points for win) dont like copy trump country but may be some merit with trainers/handicappers ideas.

Hate to say it, but the NZTAB is typical of retailers in NZ.  They just don’t seem to get their heads around the competition angle...but continue to,rape and pillage customers.....just like most businesses in NZ.
So as we say in our household, vote with your feet...because you do have alternatives.

Ditto. One crack per stride. The horse can't respond otherwise.

Firstly congrats on win Blue, invest the money you deserve to  enjoy a win , Talk agree he picked up well but 2nd run getting a cracking like that the jockey needs a word , the big hard  crack crack crack from above the parallel of the shoulder  with no time to respond gets me. An old time drill Sergeant mite crack a recruit once , if he don't do as ordered  crack again but must give a bugger time to do what's asked. Just plain wrong.

Ladbrokes maybe great Rusty , but I've saved some dough on first few races not being able to get on , thank you Tab for your total ineptitude , iam money up now , good stuff

My bets all went on ok. Including the free bets and a cheeky odds booster bet and the bet which pays out as a winner even if the horse runs second. Thanks Ladbrokes, you guys are great!

Forget about the NZ TAB.
The outfit is useless, incompetent, so far behind the times and they take the punter for granted. 
Gotta love the offshore betting; the entertainment and customer service they provide, well done.

One of the best drives I have seen in a race, trotting or pacing. Brilliant tactics employed, in a very unusual race tempo wise, and over the extreme distance. 
Clint Ford knew what he had, and knew what he was doing. Always a bonus when the "trainer" (unofficial) is also the driver. They usually know their horses, and what they can and can't do. Helped he got the back of a half decent horse in K Blur but then he was hindered by it heading into the back straight from the last time. 
Race was like the Bonecrusher Our Waverley Star Cox Plate, but only one horse took off! 
Congratulations to the connections. Very well deserved.

Could you go back to that poster and get the winners of the other races on Friday and post them here  before the races commence..

Rightly or wrongly, there is a big stigma with whip use on any racecourse. 
I have introduced a few mates and family members (non-racing people) to the races (mainly the trots) over the last few years. My attempt to try and spread the good word on racing. Most if not all of the newbees were put off by it. And they are not the PC types, far from it. 
It's a big perception thing the whip use and I think it may be time to get rid of the whip use altogether. Aussie harness racing were looking at progressively banning the whip, by age group racing, one year at a time until it's 100% banned, but I think that plan fell over. 
One look at the top animals over the years, like Sunline, Black Caviar, Winx, Lazarus, Lyell Creek, Monbet, Christian Cullen, Courage Under Fire etc hardly ever had the stick turned on them more than a few times in any of their races. Didn't need it. 
Maybe carry a whip for safety reasons during a race, but ban the use during the race?

Both starts were a shambles. The first they were walking up at excessive speed, no wonder one of them broke the tape. The second go wasn't much better and could also easily have been a cock-up. Few horses were on the tape when he said "RIGHT". The Fixer was two or three lengths from the tape, he broke for a few strides. What the hell is going on with Lamb? I thought that the No. 1 horse had to line-up first against the tape with the others following suit... that's how it used to be. Now it's a lottery. 
If Lamb is to continue in the job perhaps it is time to make the Cup a mobile?

Well, were all you followers satisfied with the starters attempts to get the field away fairly.    Hell, they started walking then pacing from about 30 metres from the starting point.     No way was either effort to get the field started competently handled.       And, as usual, drivers obviously abused the walk up for their own benefit while others were left some distance behind when all were supposed to be off the same mark.        And guys, you will have it over again on Friday with the big Trot!       Please HRNZ, it's time you consulted the senior drivers and got their views on the start and if necessary get another starter, if only for the big races!      We often see in stipes reports that they comment on monies invested in respect horses interfered with in the running so surely this no different where the starters blunders also affect the punter!

Make sure you check your email that is registered with Ladbrokes, as I wasn't expecting to see an email with the bonus bet offer from them. 
Maybe having been with the NZ TAB for so long, before joining Laddies my expectations were pretty low?! 

The Ladbrokes app was down for a short time on Tuesday, so they gave their punters a $10 bonus bet to say sorry. A small gesture sure, but this is just one of the many reasons as to why I, and many, many others use their services over the NZ TAB. 
To the punters out there, if you haven't already got an off shore account with an overseas betting agency, get one. Or two. Or three. There are many options out there.
To steal a Tony Lee phrase, they are "waaaaaaay too good" and way better than what the NZ TAB can offer, with product and customer service.
