Rusty do you or anyone else on here know if NZTAB restrict punters bets , etc. I don't know anyone barred from a bookies bar fella I had occasion to speak to  that went into one in East end with ladies tights over his head and loaded pump action shotgun at same time cash in transit  armoured van  was taking days takings to safety.

Ditching the minimum bet of $1 doesn't make any sense to me and would be a backwards step if implemented here.
Any gambling based business is mad if they want to turn down money from punters.
I don't play pokies, but don't casinos have 2 cent (or is it even one cent?) machines? Why would they do that, do you think? If it is not of benefit to the business, they wouldn't do it.
Ladbrokes Aussie have a minimum bet of 50 cents. Or if you really wanna have your two cents worth you could bet 52 cents on a horse. They'll take your money (if you have more than 50 cents) quite happily. They are a very successful organisation for a reason. They have a few clues after being round for a million years. They know their customer and know what they (the punters) want. EG. Cashout and no fee for a credit card deposit etc etc.
If the minimum bet at NZ TAB went up to $2, what message is that sending the kiwi punter? It's saying we don't want your dollar. Keep it. Bloody new website would probably being going too slow anyway, and the punter couldn't get on if they tried, but that's another story.

Irrelevant and it's common practice to ban or restrict successful punters world over.
I don't need to google that as I already know how customer focused they are.

Just watched race 6 from Ellerslie. Why was the winner only put back to 2nd when 3rd & 4th were also interfered with & could have won. That result stinks. (it only cost me $6) but I feel sorry for 3rd & 4th.

But what's the income / profit difference from making the 1 buck punter the 2 buck punter as a percentage of business as a whole ? If that's the difference in million buck racing and ribbons the industry is truly buggered.

Ladbrokes not too proud or aloof  to take a 10 p win bet online or a 10p win bet in a shop ,they will  throw in a free coffee while they are at it  and comfy chair yet have a business model that  can chew up the NZTAB and spit it out . I suggest NZTAB might be better lowering stake minimums to get more in when they are currently up the old  shit creek with no paddle.
Ladbrokes website states some people like little multiples , and it let's people play around with few pence while learning the systems .
2p forecast cross  doubles on the dogs I used to have run up the bookies as a youngster and put on for the old buggers down the street. .
Singapore and Hong Kong more so in decent health so in strong position to have 5 and 10 buck minimums we are not.

Shodsie obviously you don't know many punters and thank God you don't work for the TAB as there are enough marketing and management already there clueless like you on what punters need and except to receive from a betting organisation. I have had at least a dozen long time punting mates go off about the new site and what a total disaster it is and only a couple normally moan when things go wrong for them. A few are elderly people and a couple said the same thing "phonebet gone, Trackside free to air gone and now a betting site they can comfortably use gone  ' so you know what they said they are 'gone'. One said after 50 years of punting the TAB has cured him. I told them to open an account overseas but they said lost interest  and have had enough. That's a few past loyal customers with years of punting gone, they don't get replaced.
As for saying 'happy punting' that's the best sarcastic comment I have read or heard yet.

What a load of illogical bullocks.
If the TAB placed $1000 by mistake into an account I certainly would hope the recipient would be honest and complain. You obviously wouldn't.
No one involved in racing asked for more sports betting options. The backend of TAB betting may have been getting outdated didn't mean the OpenBet front end needed to be copied for New Zealand. Problem being by adding the tote functions it has made it difficult and confusing. The Sportsbet site has the basic OpenBet/PaddyPower format but by not including tote betting is much simpler and quicker. Now that I am familiar with OpenBet I might as well migrate to SportsBet. Daresay many others will do the same.
NZTAB has lost many of its loyal customers just wonder the business acumen of people like John Allen, Glenda Hughes and the wannabe cohorts

I bet a total of just over $400 Monday to Thursday last week, this week for the same period $0.00 bet as layout of form to find a few bets is hopeless. Thankfully Best Bets and Informant are out now so I can use them but as for betting Monday - Thursday lost me until form on race runners and layout to find it improves. So annoying that 50 million gets spent of Industry money and those in charge had and still have no idea of what is required. Sack the top management including your marketing, social media team and anyone who was in charge of the disaster. The marketing and social media raves about how good the new platform is and that shows them up for their total lack of the gambling business and customer needs. The positive factor out of it all is that Peters wanted to clean the place out so at least now he has a platform to more than fully justifying that much needed action. Nothing less than that would happen with any Corporate Company who has shareholders that they are held accountable to.

I work a 10/12 hour day 5 or 6 days a week and try and find time to look at the results of the days racing and to look at the next few days fields. Takes me about 45 minutes to do that.
I am a ex trainer/an ex breeder/an ex owner and a small punter....now that it takes me at least 2 hours to do the same with the new system im gone....
To get your fav jockeys rides for the day takes a click on every race instead of one click...
No stakes advised for each race......etc.....its an absolute joke that when turnover is struggling they make it harder for everyone to play -
    Heads should roll.........

Interestingly, there are 118 acceptors at Kumara; compared with 94 at Trentham and 81 at Auckland. The Kumara Cup has four runners rated at 90 or over, the open stayers race at Auckland has one, and the open stayers at Trentham has only two, and it's a group 3, although surely not for much longer. Now which circuit is it they want to shut down. It could be argued a lot more money would be saved by shutting down Trentham than the West Coast.

I had to go through all the races at Reefton & Matamata to get the scratchings which was 16 clicks to do the job that previously took just 1. All the individual race scratchings are at the bottom of the race so you write the scratchings down then have to scroll up the page 16 times to get to the next race, wouldn't it make sense to also include the race menu at the top of each race also at the bottom so you don't have to continually scroll up to go to the next race. Surely I just can't locate where the meetings scratchings tab is can anyone direct me as I can't get through to Help Desk.
Another annoying thing is on the racing page with the meetings I go and click on Matamata and then when i finish taking them down and want to do Reeftons the racing menu has disappeared and is replaced with sporting options???
50 million spent to as we were told be a better punting experience is far far from it. Spend a few hundred and for christ sake if its not there create a tab with all the days scratchings on the one page. Old story why change something if its not broken.
I agree with Thad on one thing John Allen take a bow and apologise to the Industry

The first thing that should come up on the www.tab.co.nz web page the next racing betting option with the field but what do you see sports games to bet on. The NZ racing industry is paying for the betting platform and all the past and future associated costs that generates revenue to the sporting codes. The NZ Racing Boards platform is there to first and foremost fund the NZ racing Industry. Even the web site tab comes up TAB Sport. The thousands of more betting options available now will be utilised by sporting betting, the new Betting Platform the Industry was told would bring in millions more money, it may well do but sports codes receive a % of profit and turnover so who will ultimately benefit?. Your race field sizes are going down every season which will result in decreased turnover but a sports game will forever start with a full field.

A trial winner will sell for 150k to 300k and a maiden winner is worth 250k to 500k. Right where do I quickly buy a horse.  Bullshit prices . Insert the words could/may/ might if you are lucky on a good day depending on number factors .A maiden winner at gaff track midweek in mud could be worth 10 bucks in some cases.  Huge generalisation that is rampant in non trade press.

Talking of ownership, return on "investment" etc, I saw Jamie Richards interviewed after You're Welcome won at Matamata today and he was ''"very pleased the horse won as it had some important owners".(some league players who are also in Te Akau Shark). Would have thought "unimportant" type's money was as good as anyone's when it came to sustaining the industry so comment pretty crass. In my unimportant opinion!

Was about a TAB do and free drinks Scooby, quite a few people commented on it. I commented quite clearly IF the TAB is paying for free drinks to industry participants maybe the industry might not want to take taxpayer dollars from sick children , the elderly , war vets or the weak who need money from tax pot to survive. Maybe let people pay for their own booze like most do from leftovers of their  tax deductions .Just not a good look if they were handing out free beer , cannot cry poverty then quaff free booze.Basics , you doing it tough tighten that belt real hard and man up. Almost a " let them eat cake" situation if it  was free drinks on  TAB funds. No organisation in the shit does that and maintains credibility .

It's a lot cheaper for many of those who go around at Palmy to race there than for them to go to Cambridge (where stakes lower) or Auckland (premier horses)      Why the hell do you want to get rid of the part timers from the CD's anyway??     If bloody Wanganui can race 2 days of dogs every week surely harness can handle 10 - 12  meetings a year at Palmy?
