  2. Alright thanks for the heads up, but I'm on the next start the stable has over 2856m! (And no, (before anyone starts having a hernia), unfortunately the great man himself is not behind "his" twitter account).

    Podcast.

Mate, download the BGP (Boys Get Paid) app, and once downloaded you will be able to view/listen to various podcasts, recordings etc that may be of interest to you. Likewise with the Boys Get Paid Facebook page, well worth checking out. Their original Facebook page/group was removed recently, but a replacement is already up and running.
  4. Are we going on the inside, or the outside road cone today? This really needs to be included as part of the key info, such as track conditions and rail positioning etc
  5. I have tried searching for "freeflixhq" (google playstore) but unfortunately have had no luck. I found "FreeFlix HQ 2020 new", but it didn't include any racing/sport. Any chance you could post a screenshot of the app that is needed? Many thanks in advance.
  6. The CPI model has it's uses, but at the same time could be argued that it is inherently flawed too. Good on ya Pickels, keep that phone charger handy champ.
  7. NZ's best time ever!?!?! Debatable. Depends on what factors one wishes to compare. The TAB was pretty close to going belly up last Friday, and it was only the taxpayer throwing coin at it, that has kept it afloat. For the time being. Season 1978-79 was pretty good. I would say a lot "gooder" than today. Let me list the reasons: 1) The NZ TAB made a profit of $14.13million. That's over $14 million pure profit, in the late 70's! In the 70's!!! How much would that be in today's money? That would buy a few pairs of flares. What were house/land prices back then? The purchasing power of that amount of money... imagine what it could have bought back then, that amount of money. 2) Racing coverage within the print media back then, was a lot more extensive that what it is today. Sh!t, they even printed the fields in the major daily newspapers. Several racing publications were prominent and sat on many more bookcases back then, than today. 3) Racing could be heard on a radio wherever radio reception could be received. Unlike today, where no races are heard on any AM/FM radio transmission. The only requirement back then, to hear a race, was a set of ears, and a radio. No internet required. Thus much more cost effective (for the punter) than today. No doubt others more knowledgeable than me would be able to provide more reasons as to why racing, or more specifically, the state of NZ racing was a lot better back then, than what it finds itself in today. I will finish by referring to Winston's comments last week. He wanted "racing to be made great again." By making it great again, he is saying the current state is not great. We all know that, but maybe Pickles is the exception. "Again" can mean repeated. So perhaps, racing can return to the heights, not to mention the profitability, of the late 1970's. Perhaps it can. Maybe it can't.
  8. But the $50m website reckons this so called champion is on debut?!
  9. Hahaha "de stop" ?!?!?! You bloody started this thing! Ya mad scientist! Test tubes, and chemistry sets.
  10. There you are Rummy, throw that in to your test tube. Brained them, bolted in, shut the gate, it's a Winx blitz, get NASA on the phone he is in another orbit, in a galaxy of stars he's the brightest of all, the champion becomes a legend, races into equine immortality, cometh the hour, cometh the legend, a nation roars for a champion, the mare of the world, waaaaaaaay too good. He's easing up on her and he's just scraped in. We will never see a race like that in a hundred years. Sorry. Couldn't bring myself to include "there's a win".
  11. Correct, yes, a lot more "shut the gate", after, "LET'S BRING IT ON"! Further south, there will continue to be a "THERE'S A WIN"! And further south again, unfortunately there is unlikely to be any "brained them", or "bolts in" either. Anyway today, "let's bring it on, and shut the gate, there's a win, Proud Mia has brained them, bolts in and is waaaaaaaaay too good."
  12. Not sure if you were still collecting samples for your test tube Red Rum but at Queanbeyan today, Race 1 Number 10, Proud Mia ($1.60 Fixed). First starter. All things being fair and equal, she will be waaaaaaaaaaay too good for them. Apparently.
  13. Yes we are all too aware of that. That and any pigs about.
  14. Why don't they hold pig racing at Kumara? Is it because they have never had any pigs there? Or is it because the local pigs are quite smart (after all they can dig very straight lines, as seen on a different thread last year), and they know their options may be quite limited if they turn to racing? Especially with the current climate for NZ racing. In all seriousness though, I'm saving up all my pennies in my piggy bank until Kumara's big race day, I love it there. Anybody that talks poorly of Kumara and their facilities oncourse, are just talking complete hogwash, and I get boared with all that talk. People (Aucklanders) bad mouthing it just have to stop swining and let the drove enjoy the day out. They (Aucklanders, and potentially RITA) simply snout get it, what it means to Coasters. At the end of the day I am just the piggy in the middle, between the club and RITA basically, so I'm not taking it for grunted that Kumara racecourse will exsist for too many more years, but I hope sow. Just have to hope this swine flu goes away before the end of the year, so I can get to the big day and then update my instaham profile pigture.
  15. All the sentences may possibly be valid. Especially the last one!
  16. Stables, you might be right here. On the surface it doesn't look great does it. The relocation. I don't have an opinion on the move, either way. I don't know enough about it all, other than the paintings of the horses on their front fence kicked arse and whoever decided to paint over it (when HRNZ still owned the property) wasn't a horse lover. Although a large component of the decision making process, the mere cost of the earthquake strengthening, wouldn't have been the only aspect to consider. At the time of the earthquakes, was the building adequately insured? If not, what was the shortfall? What would be the cost to getting it to 67%NBS if it wasn't already at that standard? Other factors would have been the cost of commercial rates (currently over $8k p.a), commercial insurance, maintenance such as BWOF costs etc and even if the land was freehold or mortgaged to the hilt, and if the latter, under what conditions? It is possible that HRNZ may not have been able to afford to stay there... and in the same breath, they may not have been able to afford a rented office at $170k p.a either! Like I say I don't know enough about all the facts and figures. But what I do know is that HRNZ may not need to worry about having an office at all within 12-18 months from now.
  17. Bit of an understatement. More like a F4 tornado, about to become an F5.
  18. Haven't been too many attending race meetings lately. Aussie racing is a different beast altogether, and it's not just down to good weather. It's largely because it's in the society's DNA and is constantly in the public eye (with great media coverage, including free to air, and frequent sports news segments on the nightly tv news), and backed of course by some good administration figures. The other thing too, Aussies generally don't tend to put up with bullsh!t for too long. If something, or someone, is doing a rubbish job, change will soon eventuate. And lastly, competition helps. Multiple bookies, betting corporations, media outlets and even states (NSW v Victoria) trying to outdo eachother, it all adds to the success that is the Aussie racing scene, admittedly tough times are on the horizon.
  19. Stables is all good mate, anyone and everyone can have their say and form their own opinion. I only relayed information what is publicly available online.
  20. Site specific, structural engineering and also construction reports would need to be evaluated for rough ballpark figures to be calculated. Then the neccessary building approval fees added amongst other things.
  21. $1,015,000 less any commission owed.
  22. Sh!t.... that's me! Sorry mate, will have a spruce up before I go in next.
