  1. when there is rain forecast you've got to put a heap of irrigation on to get the water down through the hard pan a few inches below the surface, otherwise you will have a skating rink when rain arrives. To hell with NZTR's cutesy directive to have the track at a 4 on the morning of the races improving to a 3 by racetime. That is a recipe for disaster as has been seen time and time again recently only for the clubs and their staff to be caned instead of the dropkicks making the rules at NZTR. The clubs are playing Russian Roulette adhering to the NZTR directive. If it rains on raceday there is a bullet in the chamber with NZTR etched on it, imho.
  2. surely it should be on 90 mile beach? haha
  3. Exactly. These overpaid fish heads just ban the races on these certain courses without changing their guidelines on Track Preparation or advice because if they did that it would be their heads on the block next time.
  4. And how do you know that? More likely lost the plate as he skidded along the track and got to his feet surely?
  5. Dead right Tony. So who has that job and have they been given the DCM as well?
  6. If there was no problem with the 600m mark on this occasion why bring that up now , or are you just stirring ? Best to stick to the facts.
  7. No you are getting a bit hysterical now. I was just asking how the decision was made considering that the one area where one erratic horse slipped when ridden by an apprentice would only be passed over in any remaining staying races. As there was a 1200,1300,1400 and two 1600m races , one the Feature Eulogy Stakes , still to come surely they could have run those races at least and avoided the area the horse slipped in in Race 1 ??
  8. Ex Wellington Cup winner Waisake off a rating of 90 has started twice in a R75 race in the last few weeks with a handicapped weight of 67.5kgs reduced by 3kgs for an apprentice allowance so carried 64.5kgs. It's how the handicapping system works.
  9. Didn't the horse that was reefing and pulling almost uncontrollably , slip crossing the synthetic shute where it crosses the grass track at the beginning of the back straight ??? Therefore only the remaining staying races would pass over that area with 1400m to run in each race meaning that any races 1600m and below could have safely been run and therefore the same with any future meetings. This area has never had a problem before. You seem to know a bit about the jockeys thoughts. Was any contemplation given by the jockeys to carrying on and in the few remaining staying races holding onto their mounts going over the affected area ?
  10. So tell us who your informant is,,,,,,,? Surely he has a boss who tells him what to do , with help of course from the NZTR experts????
  11. Haha but I have to agree with you unfortunately. "Casual Cameron" George has been a disaster wherever he has gone. Stipes, ARC , Warriors and now NZTR . There's not too many troughs he hasn't had his snout in . Send him back to Aussie with his holier than thou attitude please asap before he does any more damage.
  12. Isn't that what Taranaki did recently ? i.e. told NZTR to bugger off re track preparation and let them sort it out themselves ? Then when that didn't work out so well they were let off the hook by the "protestors" spraying the track. Have the police apprehended these criminals yet or will they never be found ? Maybe a reward would flush them out ?
  13. Haha . By flooding I mean irrigating copiously early in the week , as opposed to only putting a sprinkle on , to avoid having a hard pan only a few inches under the ground later in the week when the forecasted rain arrives.
  14. Which of the three guys are you talking about ? Surely there is a chain of command and the guy at the bottom just does what he's told ? And remembering of course that the guy at the top has been told by someone at NZTR about how to prepare a track and the guidelines involved re watering it etc to have it at Dead 4 improving to Good 3 on raceday , which of course is totally impractical if rain is on its way. Wasn't there someone given the job by NZTR of going round the courses and overseeing the raceday preparation ? Looks to me as though someone who works for RACE has been hung out to dry , and also maybe RACE itself , by people much further up the line who actually had the overall responsibility for track preparations.
  15. So why didn't NZTR make sure the review took place? Presumably they've had a similar chat at New Plymouth , Wanganui , Hawera , Riccarton , Hastings , Woodville , Otaki and anywhere else races have been called off recently ???? Surely if they flooded Awapuni today and tomorrow like Hastings does when rains predicted all would be fine or is this just the latest in a long line of knee-jerk reactions by people incapable of seeing any process through without throwing the baby out with the bath water ????
  16. Wasn't very free draining around Foxton this winter and spring though.
  17. It can make the grass slippery though , surely?
  18. Probably just the result of a week of fine weather followed by the little bit of drizzle prevailing this morning. Hopefully no need to panic.
  19. Hang on. Trentham tomorrow is not the first RACE meeting since 15th November. Didn't Rangitikei race at Awapuni on Saturday 19th November ? I can't remember any "media blackout" taking place by any trainers???? Having said that I'm not in the habit of listening to what trainers say pre-race anyway. They are paid by the owners not the public and consequently are the second worse tipsters behind Jockeys. haha.
  20. Ever heard of a horse called Kotare Chief ?
  21. Raceform commented that horse would probably lead so what is your problem? There is no restriction on Trainers betting. Had only been beaten 13 and 16 lengths last two starts over 2500m and 3000m. Horse has won 7 aces and $153k. Every race needs a roughie or two and every now and then they win. Go the roughies.
  22. I think you will find he purchased the mare with a foal at foot and in foal . The foal at foot turned out to be Veandercoss.
  23. It was ok for ten or a dozen jumpers to go out schooling for a lap or so,,,,,,,
  24. So Hastings had about an inch of rain and had to be abandoned whilst Woodville had about the same amount of rain and was as good as gold ???? Something sounds a bit strange here????
