  1. Obviously, you don't know the difference between track maintenance and track preparation
  2. Track preparation is ongoing not something you think about a few days before meeting so if they haven't prepared well, it will be Donald ducked
  3. Like I said different road rules for coast racing as if that meeting had been anywhere else it would have been abandoned before it started, it was unfortunate the rain arrived the wrong time as they had put some irrigation on, but common sense should have prevailed in the first instance as Oatham was there, can't he make the call or has he lost his mojo
  4. Race 2, Kopua lost footing on home turn and fell, meeting called look at track, and we all good to go wouldn't happen anywhere else if you produce firm 2 track for racing meeting generally doesn't go ahead but different road rules for Coast. Must say great racing all day with crowd to enjoy
  5. Time has moved on from the horse and cart days, but our tracks haven't with over irrigating which needs more aeration to compensate the tightening of the surface. Seasonal changes need to be adjusted too and don't think that what we done last year works this year
  6. Are you for real what would a static roller do to a track that is over compacted anyway you might as well run it up the road
  7. Why is Race not under the newly set up Regional Track Managers system set up by NZTR to have a more hands on approach to dealing with issues that arise therefore keeping NZTR in the loop when dealing with problems that arise eg. Horse slipping in trackwork week of races. Interesting they just put on report on last abandonments then just above is Awapuni abandoned again surely, we can't afford to get more reports written at a cost that would be interested to know and more money down the dunny with the abandonment that could be use on tracks for better use.
  8. Look at it this way the contractors love the NZ racing industry as they get to do a lot of jobs twice as the industry loves giving away money. Accountability is nowhere to be found so its hard to say about the TAB wasting money when thorughbred and greyhounds are chewing though it
  9. Only thing that has fixed the issue was the weather next winter they won't be racing again
  10. So with all the extra income that had been provided through off shore and leakage we are obviously still not producing our own product even with all the fancy exotic betting but I presum e in the contract those come at a extra cost to use in the platform
  11. He has to ask why the foal crop is declining, like most thing the costs have become prohibited for the small breeder to stay in the business therefore giving the monopoly to the studs with the expensive service fees then the vets that get more and more. Was the Messara report of benefit for NZ racing in one way it highlights the lack of depth in the industries infrastructure and resources to improve something that left too long to improve through the miss management of the industry. He is certainly right on the lack of the quality of horses currently going around in our group races as the carrot of Aussie money does take them away like the Waikato Stud horses racing in Aussie
  12. Once again why are NZTR at fault it is and always has been the responsibility of the Club to produce a track for races or trials and in their wisdom don't listen to people who know what it takes to produce a track all year round should be operating
  13. One would think with all the help the club has had from the staff at Ellerlise getting the track back into shape their input into irrigating would have been beneficial too
  14. Yes your story was about information, I just added that the weather can play all sorts of rolls in abandoning a meeting but most are man made lol
  15. Can have all the information in the world but doesn't stop meeting being abandoned when dealing with the weather lol
  16. Just of interest only 9 riders down to ride for card 11 in jumps races and 10 in highweight so hopefully some have nominated to make up numbers even though they are light considering the extra money given but really makes you wonder why would you have a jumper unless it's in one of the main stables
  17. So didn't the local Stipe and Regional track manager walk track and make the call as stated by NZTR, who walked the track at trentham- nobody and who didn't say Rotorua wasn't up to racing - The club. So the only track managers around with experience are Trainers and jockeys now, the responsibility to produce track fit for racing is the club the weather is the mitigating factor
  18. Someone with experience to walk the track WTF, Didn't the track get inspected by the RIB and Regional Track Manager who made the call to abandon the meeting due to being water logged surely you would understand that coming from Foxton
  19. 17mls (millilitres) wouldn't wet much of the track but 17mm (millimetres) around the track would do more. Yes interesting call considering the weather for Thursday was ok but you would think they would have struggled to have both jump days so close together. See NZTR throw more money at jumps day as they seem to think money will solve all the problems in jumps racing but like Canterbury Jockey Club putting out a survey about the lack of support for their GN carnival shows you it's a participation sport.
  20. How will Awapuni go next week after watching trials, looks the same as NP
  21. Hard to say weather a smoke screen as Waverley always likes a race day but I suppose in the age we live in now when a club has to have a crystal ball and they get a lot of rain in a short period how do they know whats going to happen when jockeys turn up and say visibility issues then who looks the mug then? I sure all critics would be out then to solve the problem but there wouldn't be no one here that can control the weather

    Rotorua

Well who's responsible for producing a track fit for racing the RIU No, the Stipes No, The Racing club yes. You can point the finger a who ever you thing has the say to abandoned a meeting but when a track is produced like yesterday the Club should of called it off simply that with recent racing the track has not recovered sufficiently to have that meeting. It's up to the track manager to inform his club of any issues relating to the track for upcoming meetings any time of the year and if the club doesn't act on those then the responsibility belongs to them.
  23. Conan won 17 beat a field by 5L in Mason WFA New Plymouth that included Veandercross, 3rd then 2nd to Veandercross in Kelt beaten a neck
