  1. Question, how has NZTR mishandled jumps racing? All jumps racing stake holders say the stakes are too low that why no wants to try a jumper as they take longer to get going. As a Breeder how long did it take me to get my foal to the races so that Bull ah. Egmont had 3 jumps races some 90k stakes for how many horses? Wanganui tomorrow 80k in stakes for how many horses and of those how many don't have riders listed even today so will guarantee even less starters. With the 90 odd going around Waverley PTP the numbers are slow coming through though many going around the PTP's are getting their tickets. Then only a few Jumping heats at latest Cambridge trials. The biggest issue is Jockeys from schooling and educating through to racing because the average Joe Bloggs had a jumper who would ride it as the big jump stables have monopoly on the riders. Another question is how many jumps trainers have tried to secure a rider to come and ride for a season as I have seen before one trainer did that a couple of seasons ago then when it came to the bigger races the local top hoop took over to claim the glory.
  2. Just a though if the track issues are fixed why do they say the track is in need of a total reconstruction and how can anyone sign off on the track as being fit for purpose or is it like when they rebuilt the corner a few years ago at 300k or more only to strike issues first trials meeting then they moved the rail out to go around the worse of it and then have tried to live with all the problems created by incompetence.
  3. I think the point was missed as to the quality of our Weight for age racing not the quality of some of our horses. Long have gone the days of filling quality horses into our Weight foe Age races whereby only a couple start and are normally preparing for Aussie racing which you can't blame them Stakes wise therefore our races become at risk of downgrading in status.
  4. Good 4 as it should be for summer racing. Not that we have had much of that summer racing with weather changes and over irrigation. As it has become with weight for age racing we have a couple of our horse that are genuine Group 1 performers but when you see a high class 3-year-olds competing against them it creates so much more interest like Sharp n Smart and Wild Nights did in the Herbie Dyke that is Weight for age racing.
  5. Just shows the state of Weight for Age racing in NZ with only a couple weight for age type of horses competing and if we put it on an international level how would in downgrade our Group Status regarding the breeding industry.
  6. Awapuni must be improving as they are advertising for more staff one a Tractor operator to become a Synthetic Track Specialist for their synthetic track and grounds person to help with preparation maintenance of outdoor areas of racecourse. Obviously, they are hoping their workload is going to increase.
  7. Interesting that Te Aroha has a race meeting on the 10th of March programmed and yet no return to racing policy has applied, with no Trials on the track. One would think with the total rebuild of track this would apply.
  8. What goes on in Wellington is not what's happening at each venue or area, as they may get some facts and figures but actually going around the various venues to see how they are operating is the nuts and bolts of the industry.
  9. I do agree with overuse of consultants in the racing industry in a lot of areas but from Sharrock's position being new to job must be beneficial to give him an overview of where the industry is at. Messara was used as a consultant by Saundry while he sat back knowing the situation was still the same form previous reports dating back the sixties with isolated venues and increased costs to get there and programming in those areas to get maximin returns..
  10. Why can't the positive come out of this by saying at least he is getting out the to all facets of the industry to the nuts and bolts to see how things actually tick before planning anything that is needed to improve those facets in the industry. He even got his own consultant with him.
  11. Good to see track back up to speed for upcoming meeting by all reports, hopefully the nutters stay away.
  12. Yes, the information given at set time is the state of the track as that time should be accurate and therefore jockeys opinions and race times come into effect as to upgrades or downgrades by the stipes. Just looked Rangiteki Stipes report on the 19/11/22 says Cloudy Heavy 10 upgrade race 1 to heavy9 then race 3 upgrades to heavy 8 as per stipes report. Then if you go to results page it says @.2pm Showery Heavy 10, 21/11/22, 2 Days later lol
  13. Moisture meter readings are different at each venue as to the soil structure and that's why they only pertain to each venue Penotrometer readings are meant to be the Standard across the board with some calibration differences to each venue. As to upgrades or downgrades from 6 30 in the morning is pretty basic as to weather changes and temperature on Raceday The biggest contributor to inconsistent tracks is irrigation.
  14. In the old days irrigation was used to keep the grass healthy during summer months now we are using irrigation to change the state of the track which in turn has led to another set of issues.
  15. With their upcoming Cup meeting would be interested how the track has progress since latest issue they had
  16. Good for you, I'm impressed you used to own one of the other chat sites Fantastic
  17. Funny, Devastate in Karaka Million 3yo get your spur into that one, Top 3 chance.
  18. Just saying it hard to mind your own business but it's even harder to mind someone else's, just saying as you and Petel could put your names up and we could discuss your business if you like just saying.
  19. So, he told you his retirement then? Speculation and conjecture again.
  20. Yes, second day was always a low-key day on Wellington Anniversary Monday, but I think Trentham Sakes was on, and it was the same day as Ashurst Pohiangia day at Awapuni and you could ride in the highweights at both meetings. Now competing with Karaka Millions it's really an industry day on a Saturday.
  21. So, you spoke to him, and he told you that, I think other people's personal business is their own and it doesn't give you the right to say this and that as it's so disrespectful to them and as administrator you need to pull your head in as you are crossing boundaries.
  22. So, he didn't leave, and they weren't in financial. trouble with development when he did leave or was pushed? So when Race was formed and incorporated wealthy clubs like Marton and Fielding and Rangiteki into the fold who was responsible overseeing their funds.
  23. It is quoted in this article that they have had problems with the corner for the last 6 years which is unbelievable as this was the corner, they rebuild 6 years ago which was done incompetently and there's no accountability to the consultant who ran the job and Race has tried to live with the problem and now its biting its bum.
  24. Funny He wasn't an Idiot he left them in the financially in the shit and run to Aussie
  25. No wrong Track managers don't upgrade or down grade track on a Raceday that is for the Stipes to do in consultation and with feedback from Jockeys and times for said races.
