If money is not generated, any business, it will not survive.
By having very good, vibrant R To R Sale it gives breeders another very good option for their business.

I agree around what you are saying , but honestly outside of my racing circle this issue is never raised by non racing people that I know , never once have I heard anybody else in the community mention it either . It is purely an issue for the animal activists and given "oxygen" by the media because it is easy click bait .
Most people in society have no idea it is an issue , most are more concerned with their mortgages and the supposed " cost of living crisis ".

RIP BC.  Was driving past his place on Saturday and was thinking of him, always good company.  Apparently he won his golf tournament yesterday too before he moved on.

I hear you all and understand the argument.  But I just don't think we can go down this road.
People are getting too far removed from the farm to educate nowadays.  Animal experience and education is done by social media now.

If anyone thinks removing the whip from racing will appease the animal activists they are sadly mistaken.  The animals activists will not stop till racing is stopped, they get more removed from reality everyday.
I personally would not give them any oxygen.

I think you missed the point during the rant where Luke said something along the lines of "for too long we have dismissed these concerns as loopy left wing extremists, but its now the majority of the public".  Evidenced by the political parties taking a stand against the greyhound industry.  They dont do this to appease the activists while pissing off the majority.  Quite the opposite.
Its easy for us to preach to the converted via this forum and racing shows, but unfortunately "not giving them any oxygen" doesnt kill off todays cancel culture.  All the casuals see is a horse getting whipped in an attempt to make it run faster.

Chris Wood, very sad.I have Wonderful memories of a champion hard bloke. Brian Collins.
BC was and is a Great Man. Kind and very fair. Staunch.
BC helped me get the Video on course video contract at Counties, along with Haubie and Sir Brian Mollett and that awful bloke Sir Kim Clotworthy.

BC taught me, earlier in my life,  how to load thoroughbreds onto planes. With propellers. How to deal with the union rules for off loading thoroughbreds in Aussie.
His TAB account balance will probably go to the " The injured Jockeys fund"
or " The rehabilitation /education of Jockeys who rode my Horses poorly  "
    or
Brian Collins book " How to Train Races as an Owner "

    Love and thoughts

BC was one of the real good guys in racing. I’ve known Brian for close to 50 years and well remember “the sting” successfully carried out at Greymouth with a filly sent down from the North Island.
Those of us in the know certainly got the chocolates and did we feel good….LOL
Thinking of you at this moment Sandra.

I walked on the track this morning. A couple of staff had been looking at it and told me of the gallop.
I could see scuff marks on the grass in places where some hooves had landed. But close examination revealed no indentation. The grass is tight and wiry. It is superb.
    I want an Ellerslie horse!

I was at Flemington on the weekend, over 50,000 there, masses of young people dressed to the nines and loving it, great facilities and atmosphere.  If we can duplicate what they offer we are on a winner. Karaka Millions gets the younger set along ,we need to have similar events more often. They have music and DJs in Melbourne after the racing so its more than just a racing occasion. Some of those younger people will develop a love for the horse, the thrill of a winner is ecstacy almost as good as the other.
Ellerslie is the crown jewel, a number of our tracks are less than inviting and will not attract the numbers the industry needs. I think Entain will influence the powers that be and hopefully reinvigorate our industry. It wont happen overnight but the first steps are encouraging.
As they say, " Good things take time" Lets get in behind this great game and be a glass half full team.

Super win for them today...well deserved Group 1 for Danny Walker and Aaron Tata and congrats to Daniel Nakhle as he has put a lot into NZ racing and we can thank him for getting Warren Kennedy to our shores...great to see.... and they have managed this horse to perfection to achieve the ultimate Group 1 prize...nice horse with a big future you would think.
