Fair play Chris.  You don't post as pseudonym and you don't hide from the questions.
I personally think next season this track will be the best track in the country for consistency.

Selling the hill was the right move to fund this renovation , imagine if they had borrowed the $55 million .
I suggest a little patience , wait and see where this goes, it seems Ellerslie's biggest crime is trying to bring racing and it's facility's into  modern times.

Funny that Aaron, have to agree, negativity runs through a lot of Kiwis veins sadly, they want to see things fail, the old” I told you so scenario”.
Sad but true….anyway, let’s see how things pan out….
I for one think it was a good move to put the track in, yes the hill has gone, and coming from an ex jumps rider, it is sad, but change happens, like it or not!

Thanks Shane, never hidden on this site and like to try and see the positive side.
Things aren’t 100% obviously, but don’t get carried away, see what the powers to be come up with.
They might be just as frustrated as what you people are….
The Strathayr team are on their way, they won’t walk away from their responsibilities, sure things will work out and as you say Shane, it will be the best surface in the Country.
Amazing how people hide behind a barrier, got something to say, put your name to it…..

For gods Sake, horses break down on any track Scooby, you know that.
Super Sid has gone around a few times, Pearl of Alsace might have felt the firm track, some do some don’t.
Injuries  happen, it’s called an attrition rate, if you read all stripes reports from all tracks things will be pretty similar.
Give Ellerslie some time, I for one, along with a lot of others will race there when it is in use….
It’s Headquarters, and not the other Famous landmark at the Viaduct!

Thank You - you are a good man. I am recalling I wrote a story on Ocean Way way back.. He wase was over 30 years old. Went to Patsy' place and took photos. If I can find I will put it up. But I doubt it
I used to see Bob at Puke and Ellerslie and say hello. He was a good Counties man.

Mark Walker and Opie Bosson celebrate Imperatriz's Moir Stakes win (Image: Racing Photos) An expansion of Te Akau Racing's Cranbourne base will prompt champion trainer Mark Walker to move to Victoria within the next 12 months.
Walker confirmed that Te Akau has come to an agreement with the Cranbourne Turf Club to build 50 new boxes in 2024, taking the operation's capacity at Victoria's largest training centre to 70 horses.
Ben Gleeson has been running the Cranbourne stable since it opened earlier in the racing season and from it, Imperatriz dominated the spring with three Group 1 victories.
Walker's training partner Sam Bergerson will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of Te Akau's New Zealand base once Walker makes the move across the Tasman.
Speaking from Melbourne, where he is overseeing the final preparations for Imperatriz's first-up run in the G1 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m), Walker said his move has been backed by Te Akau's boss David Ellis.
"I'm really happy with how the Cranbourne base has been operating," Walker said.
"With the challenge involved in it all - we're going to build another 50 boxes - we want to have a serious presence here and I want to be around for that.
"I was the one who initially said to David (Ellis) and Karyn (Fenton-Ellis) after we broke all the records (in New Zealand) last year that it was probably the right thing to do for our owners, for me to base myself in Melbourne.
"I discussed it with them and they said that if I wanted to have a crack, they would back me.
"Sam Bergerson came into the partnership this year and he's going really well, so we'll still have the partnership together and still have a big focus on New Zealand racing.
"Instead of three weeks in New Zealand and one week here, it'll be three-and-a-half weeks here (Melbourne) and a few days in New Zealand every month."

    Thanks PeteL
Just had a quick look at the videos - obviously not very high resolution, but the track looks pretty decent.
Slower times maybe resulting from a decent amount of water being thrown at it since KM day and a 'take it easy approach' ??
I see they raced wide in a group at the end of the day - maybe a coordinated request to test out more of the track??

It’s not a flop Hi Ho, I had a conversation with a few this morning here in Cambridge, no soundness issues from their perspective, I didn’t see Chad to ask about his horse.
It seems one stable may have had some issues by the word on the street, but if your injecting youngsters joints at this age, you are asking for problems as I see it, the pressure on two and three year olds without letting them mature naturally is always going to give you quite a high casualty rate, so let’s not blame the track for that.

I think some people buy two or three horses at the $20-$60K mark knowing that if they get one right, it can still be a profitable transaction after all.  If they get 2 right they are well ahead, 3 right and in clover.
So I think the overall purchases have to be looked at.  Hence Wexford also purchased Molly Bloom from the same sale.

    Phenylbutazone is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent.
It has analgesic (pain relieving), anti-inflammatory and fever suppression properties and is registered for use in horses by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. The substance is prohibited under the Australian Rules of Racing when detected in a sample taken from a horse at a race meeting or trial (including an official trial or a jump-out for the purpose of obtaining a permit to start in a race).

Trainers had to submit an expression of interest to Entain for this new initiative so perhaps some trainers didn't do so, and that's why they don't have a horse.
