  1. Couldn't agree more. Good proactive husbandry is the key for any animal owner, and especially those animals being pushed to their limits. Also agree sumawine. It took me 5 years and a 77K debt before I even earned a cent as a Vet, which was $45K a year for a 70 hour week. I don't think Vets in NZ are too expensive when all things are considered. It's just that NZ vets have always been far too cheap. Compare us to Plumbers and Builders and we are not that different price wise.
  2. Then my advice is much the same as others in this thread, shop around. In my experience, Vets and farriers are cheap here in NZ when you look at what they charge in other countries. The overheads for Vets have skyrocketed over the past 20 years, and hence the increase in charges.
  3. I'm not a farrier, although I take my hat off to them (the trained professionals that is). Ask any Vet who does mixed practice, and they will tell you their horse clients are the worst payers, and the first to complain. Sure it's a generalization, and there are some outstanding horse clients, but as a group, difficult clients.
  4. Well, horse clients are the most demanding, the biggest moaners and the worst payers.
  5. If you think that AI doesn't happen in the thoroughbred industry already, you probably think Elvis is living a quiet existence in Te Teko. Sure, the straws aren't traveling away from the stud, but it sure makes the foal batter go a lot further.
  6. That run was the just a glimpse of what this filly will do. She's a superstar in the making!
  7. Santa was a day late for me, but he brought a paper brick that could choke a dozen donkeys, thanks to Booming. Get well soon.
  8. Lisa Latta has 24 runners in at Awapuni on boxing day. Must be some kind of record surely! Getting a few winners this season too. Got off to a flyer at the start of the season. Takes a fair effort to outpace Dummy in the first few months.
  9. Hey pickle packer, have a gander at my Karaka picks for your Badingadong Cup prospects
  10. Agree Kevin, I know of a young lad taught by some very judges. They gave him the choice between Kevin Gray and Brian Deacon. Talk about shooting fish in a barrel. He turned out not a bad hoop.
  11. ...but I'm sure a man of your judgement already knows that. You might get a couple of these for 50K 1103 1149 1212 1276 1362 1374 1418
  12. Hi Small Change, yep Erin's would be the place to go. Top horseman and top staff.
  13. When I read your post I thought of that other word to describe an "INSIDE HER". Your misplaced schadenfreude is a pathetic disguise for jealousy. I put it to you, that you couldn't train a dog to lick its "OUTSIDE HIM"
  14. Congrats Don, that was one of the smartest wins I have seen in a while. He's come up like a freak this time in. If he can do that over 1200M, you're in for a massive season.
  15. Would have thought she would have been better over hurdles. Hope he's organised the elephant juice, she could give Alison Roe's record a nudge.
