drovers eyre- we are very lucky he came in tremendous order- us winning is no reflection on the last trainer- we have been able to place him well- he is rated  in 70's but u will see his llast 2 starts as a claimer in 55's he ran 3d  and snuck over to win. unfortunately he has  quite a serious leg problem and have to inject frequently-there is no doubt in my mind  north island lower grades are easier.his standing start manners are great so I hope he goes good- even though my 4 in the race are the worse on paper the money is good  and no point sitting at home. I would rate him as a horse in the the high 50's low 60's. anyway we wont kill him and retire him when the time is right.tks for   post.

best race of the year finish wise last night r1   amateurs  2.5 lengths first to last - slow time for slow horse but ultra competitive finish- rating system keeping those horses in a bunch makes good betting and close racing- no good for a punter watching a horse on a 60 rating trying to battle an 80 horse of the same mark in a mobile- like a game of tennis 2 even bad players make for good betting rather than a u beaut playing me.

of course as usual u right gary- why didn't   the club try and do what Cambridge did - offer a small share to a lucky person and trump it up- we have 1332 and 1476 as sports channels with decent amount of listeners-or even offer a share in every other horse in the  race- small-  harness don't help itself- they have a pr man to think these things up or promote them. northern club has a bit in common with the atc-.  need someone like david branch- full of ideas- I think the word is passion. great horses should bring great crowds but can sit on your arse and expect them to turn up-  hkjc give free gifts to customers- atc could have auctioned  some lazarus memorabilia for charity- get mark and natalie to give  signed hats away- anything but the effort seemed to be between nil and f--k all. the board just seem to be invisible. the president seems to mingle a bit and keep tabs on whats happening but the rest are full brothers to harry Houdini. why not do something at Auckland university- have vouchers for cheap drinks food- im not a paid employee but there are enough there . do the board have someone badgering tv radio   etc- they aint going to come to us- steven  stuart a tv 1 man great fan of harness- do they approach him.its not 30 years ago harness  clubs have to get off their arses- boring boring boring seems to be their catchcry.  if you get them there give them a reason to come back next week- offer  the public something.not expensive drinks though  that is not a good option.

personally a band aid- we need a sustainable model so we can get decent stakes.  turnovers  diminishing are the problem. I like the though of helping thebottom. alan  jones the aussie talked about the rugby. he said the reason  is the roof is falling  in because    the foundation is buggered- a lot of sports have found the same problem. harness probably needs to take note.

another junior race canned this week- how do we expect to keep juniors- long hours poor pay and bugger all drives- one told me today he has had  enough- great young  fella but who can blame him- time to dump junior races bring in junior claims for all races 15k and under - depending on wins how many points they claim- like jockeys- if I have a 53 rated horse and get a 5 point claimer can enter a 48- not hard. retaining juniors and workers is getting harder and harder. give the young fellas a chance.  I know most of them up here- great fellas respectful but I am a small stable cant  put them all on. they need an advantage and a points claim is the obvious

missed everywhere  great trainer but owners seem his problem - not the only one of course but hard to imagine with his record he cant attract  some big spending clients-
