  1. It seems the two main causes/issues are

1 They chose to grow the Strathayr from seeds and not roll in pre grown turf. This had never been done before.

And I think this one may be even worse

2 They never fixed the camber on the home turn to preserve the "chracter" of Ellerslie. I believe this is a large contributor to the amount of slipping on the home turn.

But hey not being anti Ellerslie or Negative, just would like some answers instead of the waffle they keep putting out to cover their proverbial.

I keep saying the industry MUST have this track at its absolute best.

Yes, never a chance the Kiwi, only passed the tired ones in the straight. I presume Entain funded Waitak to go over so they had something to promote. Interestingly I never saw a single mention of the race on any NZ Racing forum other than this thread, so not a lot of interest really given the hype trackside and the TAB tried to build up.

Not a bad trip for finishing where he did 200K more than he got just about for winning the Railway...I would go too if I had one good enough...good on them for having a go.

But at least they are trying different things...right???

    Didn't even use a wet ticket .

The circle of people that have a racing profile in NZ is getting smaller and smaller , PW is seems has all but joined Weigh In team he's on there that often .

They have to keep towing the party line...the truth always comes out.....let's just wait and see...better not discuss it too much or will be seen to resent the track or be seen to be negative...cant have that LOL.Imagine if this had happened at a smaller club??

    Wow.
So close, my Veandercross stablemates !
A fitting nail-biting finish to what has been such a highly entertaining and highly enjoyable comp these past many, many weeks.
Pondy launched late . . . John, too. . . and almost brought us home !
Very well done Pete, Foxmerts, Idolmite and Stoyd - very worthy champions the team Bonecrusher. You were a benchmark team right through, and held your nerve when it mattered most when under heavy attack.
I was thrilled to be in a team with John, Pondy and Kloppite. Great stablemates. We can be proud of finishing a close 2nd.
Most of all, thanks John and Scooby for this marvellous competition. John, your skill at running these comps is simply breathtaking. Many, many thanks, my friend. 👏👏

Well done guys was really hoping you could get home...well done to the Champs in both comps great comp all round thanks John for thinking this up...now back to finding losers LOL.

  6. The problem is from experts who have just walked it...in their opinion... the thatch on the surface is not allowing the water to get through..the thatch is soaked  but under the thatch is dry so no water penetrates...rushing to race on it for KM night seems to have caused a ton of issues now...and that is a fact....lets see what happens now and what the spin doctors throw out to cover their arses...

Now Lethal blaming it on 40mls of rain today , nobody to blame . FFS , what am I missing .

The track is supposed to be better with rain...Ellerslie is one of the few Strathayrs with rain thats had races abandoned...2x now...you need to ask yourself what did we do wrong...the thing is they didn't follow the advice...they knew better...well now it seems they didn't and heads should roll..but they wont. Just wait mate until it beds in...3 years later.

Worst possible outcome , the one thing Strathayr is supposed to do is handle rain .

230mls at Randwick 2 weeks ago and they raced , what is being done here that is so radically different .

It seems we cannot renovate a track in NZ without ongoing issues .

No they chose to do it their way not follow the tried and true process...chickens roosting...springs to mind...but it still just needs to bed in...come on nomates...for 55 million surely they can have a few tries to get it right.

  9. Chris, just in case you forgot.....

It was never a wet issue it was the track without rain was too hard and horses have been injured and many  jarred up on previous days. This is exactly what it was meant to do but they need to fix the hardness on non wet days as the water was going through way to fast from what I was told. Good to see it doing what its meant to in the wet...50% of the job done, now lets hope the hardness issue is fixed too.We need it to be the best, not a white elephant and I really hope they can sort it out to be good on all occasions .
