  1. It can go both ways though. I had a jockey hop off one not too long ago and tell me the best solution was to "get a faster one". Next prep it came out and won 3 of its first 5 starts!
  2. You just can't get anything close to food like that on any NZ racecourse, though frankly, I'd be just as happy with a couple of $10 dollar whitebait sandwiches at Ashburton.
  3. Exactly. The official response from the RIB was that they didn't didn't support even the 2023 whip rule changes.
  4. Nor, will I. Been there done that to no avail. If you want to, you could do so anonymously if you don't want your name attached Bucky. https://www.integrityline-nz.org/rib Perhaps in the Race Fixing or Mishandling of Animal categories.
  5. I agree, but that's a different matter. Turny's comment is about the ridiculously long boring racedays for those who actually go.
  6. Fair enough. Btw I have the same thing you mentioned above among my friends about the deplorable whip use. Won't come to the races because of it and some would probably race a horse with me and can easily afford to, if it weren't for that.
  7. Can't they just turn the tv on from say 1-5 then, if that's what suits them.
  8. Do you think that somehow would improve racing's revenue, either in the shorter or longer term?
  9. It's widely used here for training tracks.
  10. An online casino for Entain is subject to entirely separate licensing. It is not related to their arrangement as a racing and sports betting operator via their arrangement with TABNZ
  11. i completely agree. Wasting time and energy on venue plans is pretty much moot unless the underlying issues can be turned around and we are probably decades too late for that. The only potential in venue plans is for asset sales which seems the only hope to continue to fund stakes at current levels once the Entain funding ends in 2028.
  12. Looks like only trainer/employers can nominate?
  13. I agree it probably wouldn't happen and not saying it should. However, you have to remember that in other jurisdictions, the US in particular, most racing is NOT on grass. It is on all-weather tracks, dirt and synthetic, with only a thin sprinkling of grass racing. Remember that includes some of the world's biggest and most highly regarded races internationally like the Ky Derby and Breeders' Cup carnival. Those are significant stallion making races that have a large influence on the breed globally.
