Thanks. David does most of the work behind the site. It is days like today at Manukau where the first 7 of 8 races were won by dogs mapped to lead that David and I get a real kick out of it. We know many punters use them, and combined with those who have a bit more knowledge, along with the Ratings and replays etc, you can have a lot of fun and hopefully make a enough to pay for the Sunday night out at the movies! And I can thoroughly recommend the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society movie ( the brief title is explained in the opening scene!

Having actually taken the time to speak with those in charge of the restructuring, the Levin Kennels will be totally revamped. Capacity will be increased and the quality of the facilities will be upgraded. A number of issues were identified and the new protocols will increase the number of positive outcomes.  The plan has been months in the making and is the result of consultation with the groups that actually matter including taking on board member concerns.

The GPL has long been a source of deliberately misleading information. Their latest posting on Facebook regarding the positive is no exception. When you look at the actual figures the positive while potentially damaging is the only positive this season. 1 from approximately 2500 swabs taken does not support their claims of endemic. The GPL has been in existence for approx. 5 years, in that time they have only managed to gain roughly 2500 Facebook followers, actual members far, far less. A large proportion of those followers are AR activists who reside in other countries.

It is not hard to fathom what form any impending attack will take. The GPL is predictable at best. Their leader will get the notoriety he craves for a short period of time and then will disappear back into the darkness trolling the internet. A couple of MP's will use this situation to gain political mileage, but in doing so they will effectively be criticising the government they are in coalition with, that very rarely affects change.

GRNZ have authorised us to pay the stakes for the abandoned race Friday, $2860.00 split between the 8 runners = $357.50 per runner, this is being paid by GRNZ money not Wanganui Greyhounds

On Catching pen the NSWGA have just put more money in to the pocket of the people  who bring the Greyhounds that put on the entertainment.
Now our GOVERNMENT have just told us they are going to put petrol up.
It is time the GRANZ put back money on the 7th and 8th.They got $1/2m from the RB after a year long wait from the court case.
Now it is going to cost more for people to get their vehicle to the track.

What a wonderful win from a great dog. Congratulations to the Coles, Craig and all concerned. Home bred as well' The run for third from Levi was almost as good, huge effort all round
Now add the Lois Henley , the Graham Hayden-Holmes, and the  Palmerston North Gold cup plus chuck in a few more grade races and can anyone think  of a more successful day for a trainer in NZ ?
What  a successful brood Romberg Lass has been. And to think she never won a race past sprint distance. Throw's some theories out the window. Went to some great studs though.

In the future, If these races were for only New Zealand bred and owned dogs, you would probably find there would be 8 heats. People are not interested in getting their heads kicked in by the  hot Aussie dogs any longer. But if the New Zealand breeder knew that there was an incentive to race in the group races, you would probably find that the betting on them would be better and the competition very even, instead of it being a one sided exhibition on who has the fastest import.  Lets make the industry a New Zealand based industry where we are all on a level playing field and at least have the opportunity to race in good races. As well as making it a fair go for all, the money goes back into our Industry, as we all continue to breed and sell for a fair price.  Unless we start thinking to the future, there may be no future?

Have put a rail in a Capalaba but most of the trainer did not like it so they went back to the lure down the middle. It was very safe track. I did hear that PN looked at Foxton race track,
To put in at straight track, I am all for it.

Trouble on the 1st bend. How about 6 dog fields? About 5yrs ago Wanganui put forward 6 dog fields, but it did not get past the 1st reading.
At the same time,Wanganui put forward that dogs could be drawn in boxes that suit the dogs, railer 1to3, wide runners 678.
We just look at OZ, how about we look at UK?
As we will have too many dogs here, the 1st thing we can do is to stop all OZ dogs coming in?The dogs that come in is about the same number that go to GAP?

Just To let you all know, I do not believe in live baiting and we do not do it.I do believe we should be able to have skins at home to play with our dogs.
The rule could be changed that only skins, no body or flesh.

I am aware of that now, and i find that troubling. It was not gazetted according to the NZGRA's own rule book. Putting that aside, to include untanned skins, or road kills, or rabbits you have shot is a nonsense, and needs to be overturned. There is a huge difference between live baiting, and using the skin of a dead animal. The use of the word dead baiting is emotive and wrong, and is clearly an over reaction to animal right activists, and will only empower them towards their real agenda of shutting down Greyhound racing altogether. One must beer in mind, it does not matter how much you cave in to these activists, it will never be enough, because the end game is the destruction of Greyhound racing full stop. At some point you need to stop retreating, and stand and fight for your beliefs. That time has come. Expunge dead baiting from the rule book, it only weakens the rule on live baiting which should be the focus of the Industry.
The 16 yrs given to the poor bloke in Australia for using an untanned skin is outrageous, and hopefully when it gets before a real judge will be overturned.

I was never aware of the rule until recently, cannot remember ever seeing any info on it, but what worries me most is that there was no input asked from the members/users beforehand.
The rule is stupid, it defies logic and  if I had questioned it , my bet going on previous experience would have been that I would not likely have got a reply or acknowledgement. Sue starts this thread quoting the Aussie example. In my opinion the Aussie case as ridiculous, Ok it may not meet the rules but it did not warrant the resulting sentence. What if the trainer had fed the dead carcasses to his dogs. That would have been legal so what's the difference and if it was not legal what about other types of animal carcasses we feed to dogs.
Where I live a neighbour lets his son in law exercise his dogs, Two large mongrels and two ankle biters on his property and it is not unusual for them to catch a rabbit. I cannot help but wonder at the irony that a fence between us is all that makes it not a national outcry.
Actually this brings up another point. If you do not agree with the a rule how do you get your views heard?
We used to address this through our clubs who would put forward remits at the AGM. This year the AGM was just a financial statement. What about other business?
We used to have a LP REP, now that has finished. The new management very quickly changed our letterhead and seem intent on disenfranchising the members as well.
As for you Alltheway saying Shelley is as guilty as the perpetrator's of the current debacle , you are way out of line and display you have an ulterior motive. Firstly there has been no one found guilty of anything yet , although you are wishing and secondly Shelly has only told the truth.
Emotive and others who say it is alright to gather video evidence illegally think back to the Tama Iti case where  the very clear video evidence was thrown out because it was filmed illegally.

        Cheers Mike
