  1. Yes...was glad to see it did actually pick up later!!! My post done just after the first dozen or so lots.
  2. Dont think I can ever remember premier sale starting so low.
  3. ........................but wait there could be an explaination.........so......Give this truly GREAT horseman a break, he may be telling the truth!!! Maybe the gear in question was not used in Aus. He could be TOO GOOD to clean or pick up gear himself !!! SO..this is how it could have happened.... after a race in NZ some underling picked the gear up off the floor for him and put it in his bag., As he is SO GOOD he has a second set of gear already cleaned and packed in the same bag, and, he in fact used that second set in Aus!!! As his underling didnt travel to Aus with him..and as he is TOO GOOD to do it himself,.nobody picked up his gear off the floor in Aus so it got left where it lay!!!!!! He merely picks up his bag and heads to the airport with only the dirty gear from NZ still in his bag. Remember he is SO GOOD ....he doesnt saddle up his own horses merely turns up and jumps in the sulky, then after the race he jumps out and flicks the reins to someone else to cool the horse, unsaddle etc. TOO GOOD to even pat a horse!!!! So maybe he infact did have no contact with any horses!!!! TUI AD!!!
  4. I see no mention in stipes report for the race that the public was misled regarding the weight. Is this usually covered in the report if the stipes are made aware following the race and before the report is written?
  5. it is announced on course and over tv prior to a race that an apprentice has a 4kg allowance. Found out after the race that apprentice had in fact only been able to claim 1/2 kg off due to his weight. Not hugely fair on punters I would have thought. Impression given to all that jockey was riding 3 1/2 kg lighter than he actually was !!!!! Wasn't a large bet on my part..and not sore at losing...but feel punters were misled and wonder how often this happens!!!
  6. it is my understanding that horses noinated prior to original closing get preference to start over late nominated horses. Do they also get preference over draw for starting gates. Take for instance the 2 yr old race at Te Rapa. Worst draw we could get with original noms is 8. With noms let open and say another 4 nominate potentially if no preference given we could get barrier 12. Any one know???
  7. Married to one of the owners sons.....still racing in the same colours and still trying for another like him......1/4 as good would be nice.........gotta have a dream!!!!!
  8. Helen's Rose/ Captain Rio colt foal. born 09/10/2012. Quite pleased with this guy. Nice straight legs.
  9. /attachment=66:IMAG0190.jpg] not sure if this has worked. This foal Helen's Rose/Captain Rio born 09/10/12. photo taken today 25/11/12
  10. changes to the racing monthly magazine. Font size dropped to reduce page numbers, meeting headings no longer highlighted in red to make easy to spot. BRING BACK THE OLD FORMAT!!!! There's not enough money in racing for stronger glasses!!!!!!!!
  11. ...just wished it happened more often...and yes ground staff get rewarded to...(but hard NOT to sling your own kids)..and usually a shout at the pub as well...hmmm ...there's not much left for us so just as well it's only a hobby!!!!!Here's hoping for this campaign...great kick off at the trials last week!!!!
  12. how long these take to be posted on NZRacing site?? Went to trials to watch horse monday. Knew would be cutting fine after leavin work andf pickin up grandkids from school but trials running 15mins early and missed it !!!!!
  13. Neat report in the Herald today wirh reference to Shifnal Chief and our success with Pogue on saturday, Great reading and gave all the family a thrill!!!!
  14. We only small team...he's it....and we're totally rapt in yesterdays race. Believe me the celebrations went all night and the cows had an experience getting milked this morning!!!! He's definitely showing a wee bit of promise and hopefully he'll give us another one or two!! STOKED!!!!
  15. Only scratrched because no other scratchings received. Never mind horse has had a lovely 4 1/2 hour trip halfway there and back this morning while we were waiting to find out if we were in!!! Such is life! And to .....laadeedaa.....you read me wrong...and in case you read this reply wrongly as well ....I am not moaning in response to above post this time merely stating a fact. And in reply to your previ ous post on this thread where you found it necessary to quote me... I, wasnt moaning then either but merely answering a question. Was asked if the horse was worth backing...and merely replied that even if he did get back he was probably not worth placing a dollar on as he would be favourite or close to!!!
  16. if he doesnt get back in.....even then probably not...be favourite probably...Pogue
  17. so now have to get up at 4 to leave for Ruakaka just in case there is a scratching in the morning......Race 1 or 3!!! Can see both sides of the argument re putting in already nominated horses first......but hardly our fault Rotorua and Counties both called off!!!!!! If either of them had been held we wouldnt have had to be a late nom!!!! Will be 2 and 1/2 hrs on the road before scratchings have to be in, and could have to just turn around and come home before even getting there!!!! Nice....NOT!!!
  18. still.....our luck with Rotorua abandoned then counties but still not as bad as a mate who has had Auckland shifted to Paeroa then abandoned, then Rotorua adandoned then Counties abandoned. We both in at wellington ( and both first pick in the book)...but whats the chances and do you risk leaving on friday morning driving through snow in central north island to get halfway down to be told that abandoned too!!! Looks like a nom for whangarei just in case!!!!!
  19. Counties being on or off tomorrow?????
  20. Lived and worked at the gap for years and appreciated by all
  21. on the passing of Old Roy. Been living at the track in the caravan for years. You will be missed by many. Rest in Peace Roy.
  22. Ours too. Fields out now.Not many more noms cause I see only maiden 1200 split into two races because of extra noms.
  23. fields had been reopened because Rotorua was abandoned. Closed at 12 today so think they will need to come out as noms again.Think they were looking at splitting a couple of races if too many more noms.
  24. updated noms for Counties on wednesday will be out???
  25. This IS supposed to be WINTER racing!!! Give us some tracks that can be raced on!!! Some horses love this!!!
