  1. Agree with Hacko.......BUMMER !! Hope he recovers quickly.
  2. Interesting and thought provoking in light of the supposed shots fired yesterday!!!
  3. Never been to Woodville races but another small club that needs a mention for wonderful race days is Dargaville. Went there a couple of years ago for a midweek race and was fantastic. Large crowd, great atmosphere and the standard of the toheroa fritters cooked for trainers etc for breakfast was fantastic. Big thumbs up for Dargaville......hope its still as good and hope to return with a horse soon!!!
  4. Given this book to read last week and sure makes interesting reading!!!
  5. Yep that sure was a crack up of a finish!!!!!
  6. Race 1 at Canterbury Aus!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
  7. Fantastic win today by Classcoroc in the Hawkes Bay Gold Cup!!! Great to see the smaller guys bringing home the bickies!!!! You rock!!!!
  8. until the next day do early nominators ( ie horses nominated prior to first official closing) get starting preference over ones later nominated if field is then over filled and ballot required?
  9. Anyone know how these can be obtained? Had a look on NZTR and see it should be under trials results but unlike other trial results have to download to get anything, Neither of the download formats give easy to read results. Anyone help???
  10. First race day ride and its a winner!!! Congratulations !!!!!!!
  11. I'm with Bestbets on this one. Bit tragic that these dogooders make a public outcry about the death of 2 horses and yet no outcry about the loss of jockey''s lives a few weeks ago. No autopsy result that I've heard but sounds like one had an aneurism and one caused by some flag waving idiot. Neither the fault of racing as an aneurism can happen with a horse just running around in a paddock. Next thing we will hear is they want to ban toilets as straining often causes aneurisms in people. I feel gutted for the connections of the horses....it's bad enough to lose one let alone hear all this sh.t after the event.
  12. Agree with others on this topic. Pain in the butt when they switch coverage from one channel to the other. Almost causing a divorce in this household because I'm sick of listening to his moaning every damn time it happens. Other bug bear in this house is the way they switch direct from a thoroughbred race as soon as it finishes, and often even before places confirmed, just so we can watch pot lickers do their business in the parade ring before they walk around to the start. Then they replay the pot licker race 2 or even 3 times, and then we watch them being caught and led back before they switch back to gallops. On the plus side.....the do seem to be allowing videos of trials to be loaded more quickly of NZTR than previously.
  13. Anyone know when these will be shown on trackside or videos posted on NZ Racing?
  14. Thoughts are with Ashley and her family at this time. Best wishes and here's hoping for a speedy full recovery.
  15. Our sincere thoughts are with you at this time. Condolences to the entire Pitman Family, we cannot begin to imagine your grief. As a previous post says : he was what every parent strives to achieve in the upbringing of their children. Graeme and Jacky Cameron
  16. Small correction to Chris Wood's earlier post. Shifnal Chiel was trained by the Camerons out of Te Aroha not Te Rapa although most work including gallops was done on their home track at Taupiri.
  17. Would they have been correct? 2 x 1200 mtrs . First one on a slow 9 and time was 1.10.76 and next after upgrade to slow 8 1.09.47. Seem pretty quick for track conditions.
  18. Good little rider. Great ride yesterday!!! Well done.
  19. Actually........ NO !!!!!!! ..... and if i've I have made special arrangements with someone then I make sure I dont sleep in!!!!! Pedantic??? No!!!! Just plain old fashioned GOOD MANNERS !!!!!! May not have been such an issue if... I... hadnt been up at 2am to make sure we had finished early enough to be there by 5.30!!!!!!!!!
  20. Hubby rang a top jockey to gallop a horse at a track this morning as wanting her to ride in a trial next week. Yep..good as says jockey but can you be there at 5.30am. No worries says hubby. Gets up at 2am as had to milk first!!!! Gets to track approx 5.20 am and waits, waits, and waits again. As hubby not very technically minded and has no cell phone, gets someone to ring jocky to see what happenned. Sorry...slept in says jockey!!!! LUCKY FOR SOME I'D SAY!!!!!!!
  21. I did think 15 years but............... 1980, 1996 and 2009 so only 13 between last two
  22. how long a horse has to be retired from racing before you can reuse the name. We had a gelding born 1996 and see there was 3 yr old filly racing today with same name. Funny thing is when I checked NZTR I found that there had also been a horse 16 yrs previous to ours with same name!!!! Ist one with the name had no wins...ours had 5....hope the new one gets 10+. Good luck to the owners...we will follow!!!
