  1. I watched a TV doco about 6 months ago re a country overseas, I think it was Switzerland, They provide a lunch to all schools free of charge. The benefits well outweigh the costs in the long run and really made sense. Apart from each child being fed the win falls were that in later life the childrens health was much better and a less drain on their health system, less sick leave at work and more productive thus saving more than they invested. Initially it cost alot but greater benefits in the long run. Looking at Campbell live last night and the food some families provided would have cost about $10.00 for the day and was junk food.....maybe every child should have $20.00 pw for each child paid directly to the school and the school buys all food and feeds each child. Parents don't need to provide as school feeding them. Any money left over can be used to pay kids school fees and the goverment can pay to employ a cook or parents can be assigned a days to come and do the cooking. The only problem is getting parents to pay but can be deducted straight from Benefits, working for families or employers, just need parents to nominate a school.
  2. I can't locate the competition on the HRNZ website.....does anyone know the link???
  3. Hi Mardy.....we own both Cloudy Beach and Rocky Beach. We had great enjoyment last week at Addington when they both won. We were very pleased with Rocky's win price of $28.00 and got abit. We have always held him in very high regard and he finally showed us what he can do.
  4. Won't matter where they finish....our girl will still win the race

Can some please advise why it is a good thing to bar dogs that do this.....I can see no reason......its RACING !!!!....you can't control a dog when the race starts and things will happen. It the same as being checked during a race, we don't put dogs out for interference. The person being penalised here is the owner who has to pay food and keep and gets no return while dog on the sidelines. If it does it twice or more then you are ending its racing career and possibly life. Maybe a Fine is the way to go and the dog keeps racing.
  6. It was a "Repeat".....it was on about a year ago
  7. Judicial report: Further to the running report on Race 10 at Wanganui GRC meeting on 13.07.2012 and in relation to the performance of BIGTIME KINVARA who was the favourite for the race. BIGTIME KINVARA led in the early and middle stages but dropped out to finish in last place and was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury or illness. The kennel representative in charge of the dog was requested to report to the Stewards if any problems became apparent with BIGTIME KINVARA in subsequent days. It was reported to the Stewards on this day that the dog had been very ill the day following the meeting with diarrhoea and vomitting and had been placed on a drip to assist with his recovery. There have been a number of Greyhounds with similar illness in recent days in both the North and South Island.
  8. I had to laugh....there was an incident when a member of the public advised a cop that the offending car had crossed the centre line and she was reporting it. He found the car a few hours later and issued them a ticket on her say so. Now I think this is appalling, maybe a warning but no physical evidence was provided, it was just on a say so. The person paid it but I never would.
  9. Living in Christchurch we get use to them, I must admit I did feel your one last night. Those "7"'s are a real eye opener and quite frightening. I just checked our website and I see we have had 11,323 since the big one in September so I'm hoping you guys don't get what we have had.
  10. Stay aware from a projector TV, probally not Digital.....I would recommend an LED, sure you are paying more than a normal LCD but the picture is better quality especially sharpness. Just one thing to be careful of, not all TV's now have Teletext and if needed for racing then make sure the TV has this. I know they are saying its going out but we don't know when and how will they replace it. ----If you can't afford this then go for a LCD and stay away from a Plasma. The LCD benefit it that in a sunny room you can see the picture via the Black screen it has where Plasma doesn't have this ability and shows any reflection. I have found the 2 best TV's are either Panasonic or Sony but found the Sony remote quite confusing where the Panason is quite straight forward.
  11. One of the worst damaged streets is "Goodman St", many of the residents have now left and there are many houses on a lean, The TV program "Fairgo" concentrated on this street as one of the worst. Just going down the other streets around this area is a real eye opener and you feel so sorry for all the residents.
  12. Did anyone receive a Wedding invite from the TAB........what a complete waste of money and talk about confusing.......first of all when I opened it up I have no idea who the Bride and Groom are???? upon opening the invite in full its now to do with the cricket and how you can use your mobile to place a bet........if your going to send out something like this then please include tickets to actually attend the cricket game.

    DVD's

I couldn't agree more with you.....It should start with horse's being loaded, total race, horse returing to scale, judges decision and full result of dividends. What did they charge you for this DVD ???, I would take it back and ask for a refund unless it was a complementry DVD that the course provide. If a professional paid for copy then this is shocking. Whats the name of the horse ???
  14. The room was full of pregnant women with their partners. The class was in full swing. The instructor was teaching the women how to breathe and was telling the men how to give the necessary assurance to their partners at this stage of the pregnancy. She said "Ladies, remember that exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. It strengthens the pelvic muscles and will make delivery that much easier." Just take several stops and stay on a soft surface like grass or a path. She looked at the men in the room, "and Gentlemen, remember -- You're in this together -- It wouldn't hurt you to go walking with her. The room suddenly got very quiet as the men absorbed this information. Then a man at the back of the room slowly raised his hand. "Yes, answered the Instructor. "I was just wondering if it would be all right if she carries a golf bag while we walk??
